House of Horror Page 3

"I am not absolutely sure, no," Amanda was saying. "But since Matthew started complaining about the voices in his flat, I've not had any issue with it."

"Okay, then. Maybe we should stay in your flat, then. At least for the night and then in the morning, you guys should report this to the authorities and get this house fixed," Taylor said, looking at Matt with daggers.

Matthew didn't know how the authorities would fix it. Maybe sprinkle some holy water around the place and have a vicar chant some words. Whatever they did, he still wasn't going to be staying.

"Alright, Taylor. I can fix you up when we get inside. I have a first aid kit to clean your cuts," Amanda offered, holding out her hand to help pull Taylor up.

Matthew, led the way. The beam of light had moved slightly so that it was beginning to point at the front of Amanda's flat. Reaching the part of the door that wasn't illuminated by the light; he tried to peek through to see if he would see anything. He could see where the path of the light was travelling, but it looked dark. It seemed as though the darkness overwhelmed the light when it was in his flat. From his broken door into the apartment, there was no light, not even the ones he had turned on when he got home.

Since the doorknob was on the dark side of the corridor, he wasn't afraid of reaching for it. They would have to be careful not to collide with the travelling rays when they were entering. The ray of light seemed to be linked to whatever the thing was that had been tormenting him. He turned the knob, opened the door, and peeked into the flat, scanning the dark to make sure that there was nothing lurking around the corner. He entered the flat, followed by Taylor then Amanda, who flipped a switch and the lights came on. Matt did another quick scan of the living room, and everywhere the light could touch.

"I think this room is clear," Matthew told the two girls. "Let's check the other rooms and be sure we are safe in here."

Amanda nodded and led the way to the other rooms in the flat. Everywhere was clear.

"I think we're safe enough," Amanda said, "I'll get the first-aid kit from the bathroom and see if we can fix up your face a bit, Taylor."

She had just left the room when the wall in front of Matt began to shift, change and decay. The thing had found them. Amanda screamed and Matt ran to the sound, aware Taylor was right behind him. The bathroom they had just checked and seemed normal only moments before, was now overwhelmed with the bright light, the same as the one outside the door. Matt turned and tried to run back to the living room, but it felt as if he was being pulled into the light. It was a strange feeling, like someone was tugging and pulling at his body at the same time. He could feel icy fingers run over his exposed skin and the chill crept into his bones, leaving a dull ache.

Then Matthew saw what Taylor had been trying to describe to them. He could not see them, but he could feel their presence. He could feel their probing eyes and their voices piercing into his mind like tiny needles. Amanda's face was white with fear. Her fingers trembled. Taylor looked as if she was trying to scream, her face distorted. The three of them were standing side by side, when the beings began to take form.

The figures began to transform. They looked almost human but their tongues flailed out of their mouths long and pointed. The faces disappeared and were replaced by a total darkness, hidden in a hood, each with a single, shining red eye still peering at them.

Matt stood there motionless, beside the two girls, staring at the transformation of the creatures as they crept forward. It was as if he had been transfixed, unable to move, paralyzed by a force he could not fight.

The creatures played their tongues out, slashing all three on the face. Matthews face exploded in a sharp pain that burned with intensity. Just as the tongues left his skin, Matthew, found himself back in the bathroom again, with Amanda and Taylor. Everywhere was calm, as though nothing had happened.

Touching his face to check for the cut on it, Matt couldn't find anything. He rushed to the mirror and he saw nothing there. He turned back to look at Taylor and Amanda, and their faces reflected his surprise. There were no cuts on their faces either. Even the one on Taylor's forehead before they entered Amanda's flat was gone. Taylor's eyes suddenly flashed an inhuman red. Matt jumped back in surprise and terror.

"What's the meaning of--" He was not able to finish his statement before he was gone again. This time, there was no light, just darkness all around him. Then he heard the voice, just one voice this time, as it screamed.

"Welcome to the House of Horrors!" A shrill laugh followed. He spun around in a circle but he could see nothing but black. The darkness seemed to close in, a tangible presence, muffling the air around him, pressing in until it began to suffocate him. He struggled to breathe. The voice laughed again. It seemed to enjoy his terror.

Cold licked at his face and crept under his clothes, spreading over his skin like the tide on a cold winter beach. The air around him had dropped below freezing and the act of shivering became painful.

"Who are y-you?" he stuttered, finding it hard to form the question through his fear and chattering teeth.

He was met by silence. He stayed motionless, waiting for the voice to call out again or to wake up and find it had all been a terrifying dream.

Something sharp whipped across his face, and he realized that it wasn't a dream but completely real. His face stung and burned and he could feel the warm liquid run down his face. A few drops of the blood dripped into his mouth and the metallic taste caused sickness to rise. He could hear moans and cries of agony coming from somewhere in the darkness.

Silhouettes appeared all around him - human shapes, but all he could make out was the whites of their eyes. He recoiled and spun around. The silhouettes began to take on faces. He gasped and closed his eyes, but even with his eyes squeezed shut he could still see them. Each of the faces he recognized or could vaguely recognize. They were the faces of the girls he had taken to his bed. All of them stared blankly in his direction. Their blank expressions made his flesh creep. He heard the tapping of heels and felt so relieved his knees seemed weak and he nearly collapsed. Amanda, he thought. She had come to help him. However, it wasn't Amanda, but the beautiful, blond Taylor. She stopped a few feet away. Her lips curled into an evil smirk that didn't seem to fit her pretty face.

"Matthew," her voice echoed all around him, "welcome to the House of Horror," she said sweetly as her eyes turned from blue to red. They became like a knife to his heart, the sharp point digging deeper. Their warmth had all but gone and was replaced with the coldness of steel. The darkness began to recede and what he saw made a cold sweat break out throughout his entire body.

He was standing in an endless stone room. The walls were covered in different types of torture tools. Men were in chains and completely naked. They were covered in deep cuts and almost looked lifeless. He would have thought them dead if it were not for the slight moans of pains that some of them let escape from their weak and bloodied lips. He then realized that the cries of pain he had heard before were from these men. Women swarmed the room, all bearing deadly objects and wearing black leather skirts and matching strapless tops. Each of the women looked sexy with knee high boots that gleamed in the dim light and had metal heels. In synchronized movements, they began to beat the helpless men. Each slash of a whip or the sound of a baseball bat hitting their bodies vibrated through him. Their agonizing cries of pain ripped through his heart and soul like a dagger. He wanted to close his eyes, but it was no use. He could still see what was happening as if it was being imprinted on his mind.

Without warning and not knowing what had happened, he found himself naked and chained to the wall, just as he had seen the other men. The metal from the cuffs bit into his skin and he could feel the blood trickle down his raised arms. Taylor stood in front of him, her eyes still glowing red. She tutted loudly as he struggled against his restraints.

"You're mine now for all eternity. You have used and abused women one time too many," She stepped closer. "You should have walked away from me. If o
nly you had, then the voices would have stopped and moved on to their next victim. Instead, you took me home and used me like you used so many others," she whispered into his ear then stepped back. "Now, you will suffer for your actions."

She ran her hands over his naked body biting her lower lip as if in anticipation, then walked over to the wall that held various tools that they used for torture. She ran her slender hands over the cold metal tools that hung in an orderly fashion on the stone wall and gave a giggle. Then Taylor turned back to face him, breathed in deeply and gave him a sweet smile. Matthew's mouth was dry and his heart seemed to push up into his throat. He gulped and stared at the hammer she held tightly in her hand. He was more than afraid. His chest became tight, causing breathing to become difficult and painful. Matthew couldn't take his eyes off the cold metal that reflected the dim lighting. His mind drifted briefly to Amanda and he said a quick prayer that she was okay and not undergoing any suffering. He was shocked at his thought, as he had never thought of others safety before now. Yet, he couldn't help thinking that Amanda had known what would happen to him. All her previous lectures about using woman flooded his mind.

Taylor slowly walked back to where he was held captured and with a twisted grin raised the hammer in the air. He braced himself for the impact. Everything hit him at once. He understood now. The cries were the first warning. The voices were his second warning. The decaying walls were a sign. Each and every one of the warnings he had ignored. Sleeping with Taylor was the final nail in his coffin. He would have to suffer at the hands of these women for his actions. Trapped in the House of Horror for eternity.
