Reining in Riley Page 9

by Claire Britain

Kate shuffled over to the wall and pushed her pajama bottoms down. Helen smiled as she watched her from her seat on the bed.

“And those panties. I want to see that bare bottom just as it will be over my knee in a few minutes!” Helen chided, trying to sound stern.

Kate was growing aroused at Helen’s directions as she complied and slid her panties down to meet her PJs. She could feel the cool air on her exposed bottom and wetness that was starting to form between her legs.

“What are you going to do?” Kate asked desperately.

“I’m going to bend you over my knee and spank that naughty bottom of yours until it’s crimson. That is what I’m going to do!” Helen replied in a sultry tone.

A small grin spread over Kate’s face; she was getting more turned on with every word Helen said, still a little buzzed from the tequila but still unsure if she was in for a real punishment or not.

Helen stood up and walked behind Kate. “You are a naughty girl, aren’t you? Swearing and disobeying me!” Helen whispered into Kate’s ear as she rubbed Kate’s bottom, allowing a finger to stray down to find her wetness.

  “Ahhh…” Kate breathed.

“Do you think I should spank your naughty bottom?” Helen teased.

“Yes!” Kate stammered as her breathing became more ragged.

“Yes, what?” Helen said firmly, landing a firm swat to Kate’s right cheek.

“Yes, I think you should sp… spank me.”

Helen placed her hands on Kate’s hips lightly, sending electricity through her with her touch. She brushed her fingers around to her front and dipped down into her wet center, brushing against her clit, eliciting a small shiver and moan from Kate.

“Young lady, I want you naked over my knee in ten seconds!” Helen ordered as she moved away and retook her seat on the bed.

Kate grinned, ripped off her shirt, and stepped out of her PJs and underwear, and was in front of Helen in an instant. Helen turned sideways, put her left leg up on the bed, and guided Kate down over her strong thigh, putting her in position so her bottom was prominent over her lap.

  Chapter Eight

Excited about her first day at the New York office, Riley waited eagerly in the lobby in a stylish, double-breasted wool pea coat over one of her new pantsuits.

“Did you get a chance to get some breakfast after your run, Riley?” Helen asked as she and Joanna stepped out of the elevator.

“Yep, probably the best bagel I ever had!” Riley said, smiling.

Vinnie pulled up right at eight. He greeted the women and chauffeured them to the office building, which was only a couple of blocks away. The New York office of Armstrong, Klein, Dixon took up two floors of an upscale high-rise on the east side of Central Park. After Riley had been given her badge and security access, Joanna and Helen gave her a tour and introduced her to the staff. The office was even more modern and fashionable than Riley had imagined with its city chic and contemporary furnishings. Riley loved the vibe and she smiled to herself as Billy Joel’s ‘New York State of Mind’ played in her head.

“What’s with the grin, Riley?” Helen asked. “Do you think you can see yourself here for a while with us?”

“Oh, yes!” Riley said definitively with wide eyes.

Riley spent some of the day working on her presentation and researching the new client. At three-thirty she poked her head around the door-less opening of Helen Klein’s reception area and knocked lightly on the frame.

“Hi, Riley, come on in, what can I do for you?” Helen’s assistant Cathy asked warmly.

“Umm, I was wondering if Ms. Klein and Ms. Armstrong had a few minutes to talk about tomorrow’s meeting?”

Cathy smiled as she picked up the phone. “Hi, Helen. Riley’s out front and she wants to know if you and Ms. Armstrong have a few minutes to discuss tomorrow’s meeting? Okay!” Cathy hung up the phone. “Go on in, Riley.”

Riley knocked on the office door and entered Helen’s elegant office where Helen and Joanna were having tea at the conference table.

“Hi, Riley, sit down, you want some tea?” Joanna greeted her.

“Um, no, I’m good, thanks. I hope I’m not interrupting anything. I wanted to run a couple of things by you?” Riley asked a little nervously.

“What’s this?” Helen asked as Riley slid each of them a folder across the desk.

“Well, I hope I’m not overstepping my bounds, but I was researching the client and I know the plan was for mid-January to kick off the campaign, but from what I could tell their product is way ahead of schedule and will be distributed before Christmas. So, well, since we have some concepts ready, I was thinking, well, can I show you?” Riley asked, reaching across and opening the folders to the first page. On it was a graphic of a New York City bus traveling through the streets of busy Manhattan with one of Riley’s designs prominently displayed on the bus and on a sign at the bus stop it has just passed. Helen put on her black-rimmed glasses and studied the image.

“God, this is a great graphic, Riley. It showcases your design beautifully!” Helen praised.

“Thanks. The new software is great, I can do so much with it. So I checked with Ed in fabrication and he said if the graphics are copy ready, which they will be, he could have the bus wraps by the end of the month. I asked Andrea if she could check with her contact at NTA and they said they have buses ready and installers chomping at the bit for extra work before the holidays. So, if the client does like the design, we could have it on a hundred city buses by the first week in December and twice as many bus shelter stops and subways if we want.”

Helen looked up over her glasses at Riley, who was nervously biting her lip waiting for a reaction, and then over at Joanna, who cracked a small smirk back at her.

“And what’s this?” Helen asked, flipping to the second page that displayed an equally impressive graphic depicting the Times Square ball drop celebration with Riley’s ad design emblazoned on a neon-lit sign right below the crystal Times Square ball.

“Um, well, that’s potentially where millions of people and over a billion people watching on TV around the world could see our client’s product.”

“Riley, these spaces are impossible to get; they have zero availability and are reserved for years in advance,” Joanna reasoned.

“Yes, I know that now, but the company who has this space now just went out of business. They will have this exact space available for three months until the next contract. I was a little over my head here, especially with the seven-figure price tag…”

“So what are you saying, Riley?” Helen asked urgently, making Riley flinch.

“Uh, well, I reserved the space, because they said we had an account and I have a confirmation code here, but they want full payment by the end of today or we lose it, that’s why I…”

Helen held up her finger and walked over to her desk where she picked up the phone and dialed accounting while Joanna just smiled, nodding her head slowly at Riley.

“Phillip, I need a P.O. cut urgently for NYA. Yes, it’s AKD27841, can you see it? Good, I know, Riley, yes. I need the contract e-mailed to me ASAP. Oh, and do you see any restrictions for New Year’s Eve? No? Good. Thanks, Phillip, call me when it’s done.”

Helen returned to her seat at the table where Riley was still biting her lip.

“I’m sorry, it was just a hunch. I guess I should have gone through Phillip, I was really just curious.”

“Riley, let me tell you something. If you had gone through Phillip, he would have told you that you were wasting your time and we would have lost the most coveted advertising space in New York. So you feel free to just follow that hunch anytime!” Helen announced triumphantly. “And this, my dear, is brilliant. Good job, Riley, and if they want to move with the design, present this tomorrow, we can talk figures later.”

“But Ms. Klein, I assumed you or Ms. Armstrong would want to present it?” Riley replied, surprised that they would even consider allowing her to.

&n
bsp; “Nonsense, Riley, this is your baby, it’s all you tomorrow!” Joanna said proudly as the phone rang.

“Yes, Phillip? Fantastic. I know, me neither.” Helen looked over at Joanna and Riley “We got it!”

“Well, let’s get our logo up there for a couple of days. That will make some of our competition wonder!” Joanna said gleefully.

“Great idea, they could probably have it up by the end of the day. I’ll get Andrea on it,” Helen announced.

“Okay, I’m going to finish the deck for tomorrow in case they want to move on it, thank you, Ms. Klein…”

“Riley, that’s the last time I’m going to tell you, no Ms. It’s Helen, got it?”

“Yes, sorry,” Riley replied sheepishly. “Thanks, Helen, thanks, Joanna.”

“Okay, and think about where you want to go for dinner this evening. You name the type of food and Kate will have the restaurant picked out,” Helen smiled.

“Okay, but on one condition that you let me pay this time, I haven’t…”

Joanna cut Riley off sternly. “Young lady, you do not get to make conditions, now I suggest you go finish that deck!” she said, raising her eyebrows.

“Yes, ma’am!’ Riley grinned as she headed out of the office.

“She has no idea how good she is, does she?” Helen said, shaking her head and smiling.

“No, I don’t think she does, nor how much money she just made the company securing that space. What do you think, probably three times the investment?”

“More like four or five; things have gone up here in the Big Apple!” Helen replied shrewdly.

Riley woke early on Tuesday morning as the light was just beginning to emerge through her hotel window. The sirens from the city below had begun their daily ritual adding to the hustle and bustle of the New York morning. Riley had decided to go to the office early to make sure she was prepared for the new client. The CEO of Bencom Inc. and his team would be at the office in a couple of hours and Riley wanted to be ready. After showering, styling her hair, and doing her makeup to her satisfaction, she put on her new suit. With her hose and her new black heels, it looked better on her than she remembered. Riley smiled at herself in the mirror appreciatively, feeling confident about the day ahead. She would walk the two blocks to work in her tennis shoes and change into her heels when she got there.

“Where’s Riley?” Helen asked as Vinnie opened the door of the car for Joanna and Helen.

“At the office; she texted me at seven saying she was already there,” Joanna replied.

“Well, you have to like her enthusiasm. So Vinnie is picking up the Bencom group at eight-thirty. David Lannister, the CEO, his CFO, Susan Ackerman, and his sales director, whose name I can never remember! Stephen something, ah, here it is, Stephen Carlisle,” Helen stated fumbling through her portfolio as the women got out of the elevator and entered the office foyer.

Joanna stopped dead in her tracks as she laid eyes on Riley through the glass-walled conference room. She was mesmerized. Riley looked stunning in her tailored dark burgundy suit with a cream camisole that hugged her curves perfectly and the short skirt that accented her toned long legs. Joanna just drank her in.

“Here!” Helen said sharply as she proffered a Kleenex in front of Joanna, making her start. “You have a little something right here.” she said, pointing to the side of her own mouth. “And close your mouth, Jo, it’s so unbecoming.”

Joanna blushed when she realized Helen’s inference, then frowned as she snatched the Kleenex away to Helen’s amusement.

“Funny!” Joanna said, striding into the conference room.

“Good morning, Riley. You look great, new suit?” Joanna smiled.

  “Eh, yes, thank you.”

Now it was Riley’s turn to blush.

Helen and Joanna greeted the Bencom group and gave them a quick tour of the office before bringing them into the conference room. “Mr. Lannister, this is Riley Carrington; she is going to be the lead on your campaign. We are bringing her here from the LA office to work on your project,” Helen said as David Lannister extended a hand.

“Nice to meet you, Ms. Carrington. Helen tells me you already have some ideas for us?”

“Nice to meet you too, Mr. Lannister, and please call me Riley. Yes, I have a couple of ideas I’d like to show you today,” Riley said confidently.

David Lannister was handsome and charismatic and Riley liked him instantly. He was in his late thirties—young for a CEO—had short stylish brown hair, sparkling blue eyes, and was impeccably groomed in an Armani suit.

“So you will be spearheading our campaign, did I hear that right?” Stephen Carlisle asked as he joined the conversation. “Then I assume you’ve done your homework and know the demographic we’re targeting?”

“Riley, this is Stephen Carlisle, my marketing director, and this is Susan Ackerman. She’s in charge of the cash!” David said, smiling at Riley.

“Mr. Carlisle, Ms. Ackerman,” Riley said as she offered her hand. “Yes, I think I have a pretty good idea of your customer base.”

“Hmm, then I’d like to see what you have, Riley,” Carlisle said in a slightly cynical tone.

The two groups chatted over light refreshments and made their introductions for the first fifteen minutes.

“Well, now that we know each other a little better, can we show you a little of what Armstrong, Klein, Dixon can do for Bencom?” Helen asked, receiving an enthusiastic response. “Riley,” Helen nodded.

“Thank you, Helen,” Riley acknowledged confidently as she began her presentation. She was captivating and articulate and Joanna just beamed from the back of the room proudly.

“This is brilliant, this is exactly what we need,” Susan Ackerman interjected as the three began to discuss the designs with Riley.

“Shit, this is better than that camel thing that went viral. People are going to be talking about this. This girl’s not bad!” Stephen Carlisle announced.

Helen looked over at Joanna, who was still beaming at Riley as she charmed the three executives. “Oh, you’ve got it bad!” Helen announced in a whisper to Joanna.

“What?” Joanna looked perturbed at the interruption like she was being disturbed from watching a show.

“You and Riley!” Helen whispered, nodding in Riley’s direction.

“Don’t be ridiculous, Helen!” Joanna whispered back in an irritated tone.

Helen just smiled as they continued to watch Riley wow the Bencom executives.

“Well, we have an opportunity if you want to move sooner,” Riley explained as she started to talk about the concepts for her ads.

“You could really do this by the second week of December?” David Lannister asked.

“Hold on, we don’t want to rush into this and do things half-assed. I mean, is this realistic or are you just rushing to get something out there?” Stephen Carlisle asked pessimistically. “I like the design but it has to be done right. All or nothing here, David!”

Helen was about to step in, seeing Stephen Carlisle challenging Riley, but Joanna touched her arm gently. “Let her give it a try, we can step in we need to, she’s doing fine.”

“Mr. Carlisle, I assure you we have gone through all the details on this, and it’s ready to be set in motion. We also, in fact, have another unique opportunity that we would like to offer Bencom. We believe it will put you at the forefront of the market this season, assuming you have the product inventory to sustain it. If I may?”

“Please, Riley, you have me intrigued,” David said, smiling and gesturing for Riley to continue.

Riley presented the remainder of her concepts to the enthralled Bencom trio, who listened attentively.

“This could be huge for us, David!” Stephen Carlisle proclaimed.

Helen neared the front of the room as Riley ended her pitch. “Yes, and you can see the space for yourself in the square. It has the firm’s name on it right now and as Riley said, we felt thi
s was the perfect platform for your product and a teaser for the upcoming commercial.”

“Ms. Klein, Ms. Armstrong, I have learned two things from our meeting today,” David Lannister announced as he stood up and addressed the room. “One, we picked the right company to represent Bencom’s advertising needs, and two, I see no reason why we would want to limit our contract to only six months. I don’t want to run the risk of losing some of your talent such as Ms. Carrington here to other clients. I would like to extend our contract to a year and I want to move on these ads. Susan can stay and work out the details with Phillip, but I want that space and the bus wraps.”

“That’s good news, David. I know this campaign will be a success!” Helen said, shaking David’s hand.

Riley tried to hold back a grin as she said her goodbyes to the Bencom group. Helen and Joanna walked the team out of the conference room while Riley sank down into one of the conference room chairs and helped herself to a bagel and cup of coffee, smiling to herself. She immediately got up when Helen and Joanna returned to the conference room.

“Riley, sit down and finish your bagel!” Joanna scolded.

“Congratulations, young lady, you did a fantastic job!” Helen praised. “Even when Stephen was pressing, you kept your cool and gave them all the facts, really nice job!”

“Yes, Carlisle certainly had no reservations telling us exactly what he expects!” Joanna laughed.

“Seems kind of a douche to me!” Riley said absently as she sipped on her coffee.

“Riley!” the two women chided angrily in unison, making her jump.

“You’re right, he is kind of a douche!” came the voice of David Lannister from behind them. “I uh, forgot the folder,” he explained as he motioned to a binder lying on the table. “But he’s a hell of a sales guy, so I have to put up with his douchiness!” he exclaimed, smiling.

Riley was mortified as she jumped to her feet. “Mr. Lannister, I uh…” she stammered.

“See you around, Riley!” he said, winking. “Ladies.” He nodded to Joanna and Helen.
