I changed the subject, he didn't seem like he was leaving any time soon.
"You don't seem drunk. That's surprising for a frat like you." I remark, as I hold onto the door.
Dylan's smirk reappears on his face, "You think you're so funny don't you?"
I clench my jaw. "Actually, sometimes, yes."
"Cute."
I shook my head, "Will you stop with the nicknames. I'm not your girlfriend nor will I ever be."
"That's just how I am." his British accent cut deep as he spoke.
"Well stop."
"Fine." he continued, "Why did you leave earlier?"
I had completely forgotten about Dylan inviting me to his party. I left as fast as I was stuck in the closet with one of the seniors.
"I-I wasn't feeling good." I lied.
Dylan leaned his head back and laughed before replying, "Bullshit."
"No, I’m being honest. The Chinese food got to me." I lied; again.
"You got scared." He smirked, "Admit it."
He was right, I got scared. I had never been alone with a boy before tonight.
"I wasn't scared."
"Are you a virgin, Emily?" he asked, out of nowhere.
"That's absolutely none of your business." I backed away but he stepped closer.
He looked at me from head to toe and smirked as he came to my face.
"I can tell. You look the part." He smirked. When he spoke to me, his face was so close to mine. Our foreheads could have touched.
I pushed him away and back into the hall.
"It's late. Go home, Dylan." I said before slamming the door in his face.
Chapter 6
I patted Jasmine on the back, "Hey, Jas?"
She groaned and rolled over on the bed towards me, lifting her hand up to my face and squeezing my cheek.
"Jas!" I pulled her hand away from my face and she erupted in a fit of giggles.
"Emily?" she slurred her words.
"Yes, it's Emily." I lifted her off the bed and walked out into the hallway.
"What did you do to your face?" She laughed, "You have three eyes!"
I pretended to laugh at her joke as we stepped inside the elevator and walked into the showers.
"Jas you need to take a shower." I said. She was going to have to skip another day of classes but, luckily, I found Natasha's contact on her phone and asked if she could copy notes for her.
"Fine!" she whined, ripping her shirt off and attempting to pull it off her head.
"Whoa!" I shouted, stepping over her to stop her from stripping down even more, "get in the shower and strip down in there. Throw the clothes over the curtain to me."
She wobbled into the shower and threw her clothes over the curtain. A few seconds later, the water began to run.
I sat on the bench, waiting.
When the shower turned off, Jas wrapped the towel around her body and stepped out. I handed her a change of clothes and she stepped back inside.
Once she changed she came out and brushed her teeth and washed the remainder of the makeup on her face.
To be honest, I had no idea why I even was helping Jas right now after all the things she said to me tonight. But then again, Jas was my friend and I wasn't going to let her walk around campus at night drunk.
After she finished, I brought her back to our dorm. She collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep. Her hair was still soaking wet but at least I managed to clean her up and get her safely back here.
I thought of going back to sleep but when I looked at the clock it already read 6:38.
I decided on just letting Jas sleep and going to the coffee shop on campus. I changed into a pair of leggings and a sweater. I slipped on a pair of boots and walked out onto campus.
When I got to small shop, I ordered a coffee and sat down at a table in the corner.
I pulled my laptop out of my bag and began to type an essay I had due. I chewed on the end of my pencil as I researched.
I looked up at the line to the cash register. I couldn't help but look around at the people sitting at the other tables.
There was a couple drinking tea and sharing a muffin, a girl reading a book in the corner. I was about to look back down at my laptop and continue writing, when I saw a Dylan sitting in the opposite corner of the shop with his head in a English book and his laptop sitting on the table with his coffee.
I had to do a double take before I realized it was actually him. He was wearing black sweatpants and a black t-shirt, even wearing glasses. I never realized he had glasses.. and I never realized he actually did his homework.
I must have stared too long because he rubbed his temples and looked up from his book.
His eyes looked so green, even from far away. He looked surprised to see me here.
I quickly looked back down at my laptop and took a nervous sip of my coffee.
I typed a few more sentences before I heard someone sit down in the empty seat on the other side of the booth.
Dylan.
"Didn't realize you wore glasses." I snap, never looking up from my screen.
"Nobody knows and I plan to keep it that way." He said, removing the glasses from his eyes.
Deep down, I really wished he kept them on. He made them look sexy.
"So. You're saying if I tell anyone I'm screwed?"
"Yeah, basically." he snapped back.
"Listen, I don't care whether you wear glasses or not but I don't want anything to do with you anymore. Please just leave me alone."
He narrowed his eyebrows and leaned his head towards me while his hands rest on the table.
"I don't think that's going to happen. Your friend seems to like my friends and me a lot." He smirked, playing with a packet of sugar.
I leaned back in the booth and crossed my arms across my chest. "My friend has gotten drunk two times in the past week because of you and your parties."
Dylan laughed, "And that's my fault how? It's her choice to drink.. I just provide the alcohol."
I narrow my eyes at him, changing the subject, "Why are you even here anyway?"
He looked over at his table again, "Homework."
I can't help but laugh, "Seriously?"
"Yes," he says, keeping a straight face.
"Wow."
"Wow what?"
"You actually do homework."
"Yeah, I mean, I do plan on having a successful life."
"How are you going to be successful if you always party?"
He leaned his head back and sighed, "Please, Emily, shut the fuck up with all these questions. All you ever do is ask questions!"
I felt my jaw drop, he acted so nice but he was two faced and rude.
"Fine. If you hate my guts get up, this is my table." I snap.
He scooted out of the booth, pulling his glasses back on his face.
No matter how attractive I found him, his personality was terrible. Then again, I couldn't judge him now. I barely know him.
I tried my best to ignore Dylan the rest of the time I was there but I couldn't help but find myself staring at him the rest of the time he was there.
As I finished my essay, Dylan stuffed his laptop in his bag, along with his glasses, and started texting someone. His black iPhone could be heard all the way across the coffee shop. He smirked at his screen.
A few minute later, the tall brunette that was with Dylan last night walked into the coffee shop wearing a skirt and a tight crop top. Dylan got up from the table and greeted her with a very long kiss.
How fake was he?
Does she know that he wears glasses? Does she know he actually does schoolwork? Does she even know anything about him?
He was just hiding all those things because he wanted to be popular.
But deep down, I knew there was something about Dylan that was different.
He was smart and intelligent but he was hiding it to stay in the popular crowd.
Chapter 7
I walked out of the coffee shop and back towards my dorm
. I walked through the park where couples were laying down on the grass, students were reading books, and teachers walked down the sidewalk, hurrying to get to their class.
I wrapped my bag around my shoulder and continued to make my way back towards my dorm complex. It was Saturday and there was not much to do around here. I had friends on campus but hardly ever saw any of them.
Jasmine was probably still out cold and I hadn't kept in touch with any of my other friends.
As I turned the corner towards the dorm complex, a few girls stood outside.
"Emily!" Natasha stood among them, calling my name.
I approached them by the door.
"Hey." I answered, not too thrilled about starting a conversation with her.
"Is Jasmine home?" she asked, crossing her arms.
"She's shitfaced because of you, Natasha." I said adding a dry laugh.
Natasha smirked. "What do you mean because of me?"
I narrowed my eyebrows before saying, "You invite her to these parties."
"They're fun. Admit it, Emily."
I didn't find them the least bit fun.
"No, they're actually not that fun. They're dangerous."
"Listen, there is another one tonight except at the sorority house. You and Jasmine can come if you want."
I debated whether or not to go. Natasha wasn't rude. She just liked to have fun. I was the one overreacting.
I had finished my paper and didn't need to study for anything. Why not just go for the fun of it? After all, it is Saturday night.
"Fine." I answered, "I'll go. Jasmine needs to stay home, though. She can't get drunk again."
Natasha clapped her hands and hugged me, "Awesome! See you tonight."
I smiled and walked back inside.
I finished straightening the last of my hair and slipped on my black skinny jeans and white tank top.
I quietly left the dorm and walked down the hallway without Jas noticing.
It was late and the dorm complex was extremely silent. I tiptoed down the hallway and towards the elevator. Once I got to my car, I drove down towards the sorority houses. I thought I wouldn't be able to figure out which house the party was at until I saw couches on the front lawn and guys passed out on the lawn.
I parked my car and debated whether or not this was safe. I knew it wasn't but I also trusted that I wouldn't get wasted or stoned.
I walked inside and found Natasha in the doorway greeting everyone.
"Emily! You made it!" She grabbed me into a hug and pulled me inside.
I followed her towards the kitchen and into the dining room.
"I know you don't drink but can you handle some beer?" She asked me, handing me a red solo cup.
I nodded my head and took the drink from her grasp. She smiled and turned around as a few other girls tapped her on the shoulder.
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I set my drink down on a table.
I read the message on my screen.
*where are you? dorm is empty. -jas*
I unlocked my phone and responded, telling a little lie.
*out studying late. sorry.*
I picked my drink up from the table, took a sip, and walked back over to Natasha. I saw a few fraternity boys following behind me but I quickly shook it off and ignored them. I couldn't find her in the kitchen. I walked towards the staircase and made my way upstairs. I had to grab the railing because I felt as if I was losing my balance.
What the hell is going on?
I noticed hardly anybody was upstairs but I still continued to look for her anyway.
I was seeing double now and I bumping into things.
I was spiked. My drink was .. Spiked.
I did put my drink down on the table while I was texting Jasmine..
I heard the group of fraternity boys behind me. They were laughing and before I knew it I couldn't feel my body, it was as if I were paralyzed. They then picked me up off the floor and carried me into a room before everything went black.
My eyes fluttered open. Everything was blurry and my head was foggy. I watched as the group of fraternity boys kneeled over me as I lay on the bed.
"Take off her shirt." one boy said.
"No, just pull down her pants!" another one shouted.
I was terrified. I tried to move around and push him off me but I couldn't find the strength.
I found my voice and yelled, "Get the hell off me!"
They all turned towards me and the one closest to me grabbed my arms and pinned me to the bed.
"Help! Help me please, someone!" I shouted again before another fraternity boy clasped his hand over my mouth.
"Max!" the boy holding his hand over my mouth yelled.
I suddenly remembered who Max was. He was the one who cut me in the Starbucks line.
My eyes widened.
"Just unzip her pants and do it before someone comes in!" the other boy shouted who was by the door.
At this point, I was petrified.
I bit the inside of the boy’s hand that was over my mouth and he let out a cry of pain.
"Help! Someone please help me!" I screamed as loud as my voice would let me.
My throat burned when my voice gave out. Max threw his hand back and it collided with my face.
He slapped me.
My skin burned and my heart was beating so fast in my chest.
Why wasn't anyone coming?
I felt Max fiddling with the zipper on my tight jeans and I felt the tears flooding in my eyes. My face burned from where Max hit me.
Suddenly, the door flew open and in came the last person I would ever expect to save me.
Dylan.
"Get the fuck off her!" he yells, his voice loud and hoarse.
Max slid off me and I felt myself regain control over my body. I lay on the bed as Dylan came over and punched Max across the face; without even hesitating.
"What the hell did Emily ever do to you?" Dylan shouted, shoving Max against the wall.
Natasha came running in now and she sat next to me, running a hand through my hair.
I cried into her shirt as she re-zipped my pants and fixed the straps on my top.
"Get the hell out, Max. Don't fool around with freshman. Especially not Emily!" Dylan yelled.
There was a crowd standing outside the bedroom door and I felt embarrassed beyond belief. Every around campus would now know that Max Summerfield spiked my drink and tried to take advantage of me.
"Everyone move out of the way!" Dylan shouted at everyone outside the doorway.
The music was blasting and I still had a massive headache.
I watched through my blurry vision while everyone moved out of the way as Dylan approached me.
"I'll carry her. She can't stay here." Dylan told Natasha.
I watched as Dylan placed his toned arms underneath my legs and around my waist. I inhaled the smell his shirt carried. It was a mixture of cologne and laundry detergent.
As we walked down the stairs people had their cellphones out and were snapping pictures.
I felt so embarrassed.
Dylan carried me outside and pulled out the keys to his car, holding me with only his right around my waist. I could hardly move or think straight.
Natasha opened a car door and helped Dylan lay me down in the passenger seat. I moved into a comfortable position on the leather seats.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" Natasha asked, sliding into the backseat.
"I don't know..” I spoke for the first time.
Dylan sat down in the driver’s seat and started the engine.
"Did he touch you, Emily? You can tell Natasha and me." Dylan spoke, never taking his eyes off the road.
I tried to remember what had happened before I awoke in the bedroom, but I hardly knew anything anymore. My mind was a haze.
"I can't remember… All I know is that Max tried to pull my pants down but I stopped him but when I woke up my shirt and bra was disheveled," I answered, my voice small.
/>
I felt tears form in my eyes as I told my side of the story. Never in a million years did I expect to have my drink spiked.
"Emily..” Natasha ran a hand through her hair, "You're fine. You're going to be okay."
I completely lost all control over my emotions. I started crying.
Dylan pulled the car over onto the side of the road and placed a hand on the back of my seat.
"Emily, stop. Please." he begged.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have invited you." Natasha muttered.
I shook my head, "You didn't know."
Dylan started the car again, "Emily, I'm gonna get you back to your dorm safely. I promise."
Chapter 8
Dylan pulled up to my dorm complex and parked the car in an empty parking space.
"I'll walk her upstairs." Natasha offered, reaching for the door handle.
Dylan reached across the seat and touched his hand on her shoulder.
"No. I will." he insisted.
Natasha leaned back in her seat with a surprised, confused look on her face.
"Come on, Emily. Let's go." Dylan opened the driver seat door and then the back door. He helped me out of the seat since I still had a hard time standing up. He wrapped an arm around my waist.
We slowly walked to the door and I reached into my purse for my key.
"I'm sorry." Dylan admitted out of nowhere.
I turned towards him, confused.
"It wasn't your fault. You didn't even invite me tonight. It was my choice to come." I said.
I didn't realize Dylan cared so much. Maybe he was just scared that the dean of the school might find out about these parties he hosted. After all, the consequences for his actions could end in expulsion. I thought about telling but I figured it wouldn't be worth it. Everyone would hate me for ending the best parties and for snitching on one of the most well-known boys on campus.
As we approached my dorm, I pulled out my key and turned it in the lock. I looked around the empty hall for campus police.
Once the door was open Dylan spoke again, "Are you sure you'll be alright?"
I nodded my head and remembered the last time Dylan came to my dorm. He had acted so different. He might have been drunk, yes. But, now he was caring for me as if I were his child. I hated it.
