  Sonya grinned.

  “Ride or die?”

“Ride or die. Whatever that means.”

She burst out laughing. The darkness that had been looming over her, threatening to consume and dismantle her, seemed to be lifted immediately. It was like Diesel knew exactly what to do and what to say to make her feel better. It was bloody amazing. Sure, everything that had happened was still there, and she knew it didn’t just take a nice breakfast and a mattress to make a relationship, but like he’d said – it was a start. She sure could use a fresh start; and as far as she knew, so could he.

“Okay. I’m in too, then. Let’s see what happens.”

Diesel’s hopeful smile broke into a real grin now, and dammit if it didn’t just make him ten times as handsome as before – if that was even possible. He got up, the breakfast forgotten, and Sonya was reaching her hands out for him even before he made it over to her. She just about climbed up his body – as tall as he was – to get to his face and his lips.

Sonya kissed him hard, and he kissed her back just the same. Her knees latched around his waist and he let one hand travel up her ass and back, until it was resting on her neck. Diesel pulled back slightly despite her protests.

“How about we try out the mattress?” he asked, grinning.

  “Fuck yes,” she replied.

What else was there to say, anyway?

He almost ran over to the mattress, and she laughed as he threw her down on it and took off his shirt. Watching him tower over her like that was just about the sexiest thing she could imagine – until he took his pants off, of course. Sonya ripped her own shirt over her head just as he took off his jeans, and she didn’t even try to hide the small moan at the sight of his already hard, thick cock. She felt like the most beautiful woman in the world when he looked at her. That was a first. With Blade, she’d always felt little more than disposable.

She knew now that she’d never let anyone treat her like that again. But with Diesel, she was sure she’d never have to worry about that.

He didn’t have to tell her what he wanted. The velvety head glistened with precum, and she leant forward eagerly, swirling her tongue across the head and getting a taste of the saltiness. He hissed in a breath, and she loved the sound of it, loved knowing she had that effect on him. It seemed like an impossible feat to take it all, but she was damn well going to try. Diesel pushed her head back, his fingers curling in her hair, letting her do what she wanted to him.

She let her tongue wander across the head, leaving a slick trail as she tasted the curves and the edges, getting happily lost in the sensation. Nothing but pure enjoyment of the act existed for her, and Sonya lost herself in it. She wanted to make him scream, to make him cum.

Her lips slipped over the tip, sucking him in, and the shudder that went through his thighs made her need pulse hotter. She teased, licking and lapping at him but not taking him too deep, just bobbing up and down slowly. His muscles grew tense as she taunted him with her hot mouth, and she loved the outlines that his perfect body created, rigid with expectation.

Suddenly, Diesel gripped her long, flowing hair in his fist and bucked into her mouth, stretching her lips around his massive cock. Sonya gasped, but it was quickly replaced by a purr. She was a sucker for taking things just a little bit too far, and her nails dug into his strong thighs. Diesel started facefucking her, stroking in and out of her mouth. She knew she could stop him whenever she wanted, but the feeling of his hard pole of a cock sinking into her throat was just too fucking good to deny.

“Fuck, you’re good,” Diesel growled, sending tingles down her spine.

Sonya was soaking wet, drenched with her lust for him. Her nails let go of his thighs, and her hands went up to his hips and stomach, resting on the flat plains of his abs. Her eyes watered, and when she looked up at him, he smirked, his breath ragged. Diesel must have liked seeing her like that because he paused for a moment, almost completely in her mouth and throat. Sonya gurgled a moan, shaking all over, wanting more. She wouldn’t have pulled back. Not for anything. She wanted his cum in her – she wanted to give him that release.

“You’re gorgeous,” he hissed in that way that men do when they can finally get the truth out of their guts.

Suddenly, Diesel pulled out of her mouth and leant down. He picked her up and spun her around, pushing her down on the mattress on her hands and knees. He tore the panties off of her, and she yelped in surprise as the fabric ripped. Fuck them, she’d buy new ones.

A moment later, Diesel thrust into her, and Sonya’s world went black. Her back arched and she bucked into him, demanding he sink into her all the way. He seemed even bigger from that angle, and her screams of lust and pleasure were enough to confirm that. Diesel’s hands gripped her thighs as he plowed into her like a man possessed, driven by the need to claim her – she wanted it just as much as he did.

“Oh fuck, Diesel,” she gasped. “That’s so good!”

He grabbed her hair again and yanked her head back, leaning over her body to kiss her. His tongue invaded her mouth and she moaned into it, her own tongue fighting against his. His other hand kneaded her tits, and when he pinched her nipples, she was gone. Her orgasm rolled over her like she got hit by a truck, like every inch of self-control was sucked right out of her in one go.

She could faintly tell that she was screaming and pounding back into Diesel. She could feel his body shudder against hers, and when she heard his growling moan, she winced with pleasure. It was so good, it was almost too painful to take.

When they both collapsed next to one another, gasping for breath, heaving and sweaty, Sonya couldn’t move for the longest time. Only when Diesel finally pulled out of her and rolled her gently over to face him did she spend any mental dexterity on forming words or thoughts.

“That was…” she started, unable to describe what had just happened.

“Yup,” he confirmed, staring up at the ceiling.

Sonya laughed at that. Yup was going to be enough. She’d work on their eloquence later. Right now, she had a man to fuck and pancakes to eat, and both of those took precedence over forming neat sentences and thinking straight thoughts.

  EPILOGUE

  Diesel

“See, that’s more along the lines of what I meant when I said you could help out,” Rake said, laughter in his voice as Diesel chopped firewood.

There was a pile large enough to warm three houses for the length of the Idaho winter surrounding him, but Diesel could keep going for days if need be. He secured the axe in the old stump he’d been using as a stand and raised one foot on it as well, leaning his elbow on it. He felt a bit like a clichéd lumberjack, but when in Idaho, right?

Diesel wiped the sweat from his eyes and grinned in response to Rake.

“I might have got a bit carried away,” he admitted, accepting a bottle of water from the werelion.

“Just a bit. You know, I think this might be the right time to talk to you. Liza and Sonya are out back, chattering about art or something. Apparently your girl has management and organization skills, says she wants to throw together an exhibit for Liza. It would be the first one in Shifter Grove. You two getting serious?” Rake asked, dropping down on his haunches and taking a swig of his beer.

  Diesel nodded, unscrewing the water.

“We are,” he said noncommittally, though he couldn’t hide the smile on his lips when he said it.

“Okay. Then I think I need to tell you something. The thing with Blade and his crew? They went on trial regarding their illicit activities in Los Angeles. Warren somehow managed to keep her name out of it. Apparently someone owed him a favor. But I gotta ask, man. Do you know about her past?”

Diesel sobered for a moment. He took a sip of his drink, keeping his dark eyes on Rake. Then, he smirked.

“You mean that she used to be a cat burglar and that she knew what Blade was doing? I know, yeah.”

“And it doesn’t bother you?” Rake asked, raising his brows.

Diesel knew his friend meant nothing by it and was just looking out for him. And if anything, he knew Rake had done enough sketchy stuff in his life to be the last one to judge.

“Not one bit,” Diesel replied, just as Sonya walked up to them from behind.

“What doesn’t bother you, soldier-boy?” Sonya asked, walking straight to him and smacking a kiss on his lips.

“Whoa. That’s my cue to get out of here. Come out back when you two are done, I’m about to throw the steaks on the grill. I think Deacon and Aubrey are going to be over in a bit too. I bet she’d love to help out with the finances on that little show you were discussing.”

Rake tipped his hat and disappeared behind the mountain of firewood. Diesel slipped his hands around Sonya’s waist and pulled her to him, laying a kiss on her lips and then one on her cheek.

“Well, spill,” she urged, smiling softly at the attention he was showering on her.

He couldn’t keep his hands off of her. She’d been staying with him for a few months now, and every day that passed saw them growing closer and closer. Diesel had never felt anything like it – it was as if she were meant to be with him. In private, he’d thanked Rake at least ten times by now for being his usual mischievous self and hooking Diesel up with the mail-order bride ad. Without it, he was sure he would never have met this beautiful, intelligent and vivacious woman.

“He was just making sure I knew what I was getting myself into,” Diesel said with a grin, noticing the purr that hit his tone when he said it.

This woman made him purr. And he didn’t even mind. Hell.

“And do you?” she teased, brushing her hands through his hair as she sometimes did.

He leant into the touch eagerly.

“Well, I hope so. And if I don’t, I think that’s probably for the best.”

He gave her a look, and she made a face, sticking out her tongue. Diesel kissed her quickly before she could retract her tongue. Damn she was cute. And she was all his. Or at least, was going to be. It seemed like a good of a time as any, and he’d been carrying it around with him for a week now. Diesel fished out a small red box from the back of his pants. Without a further word, he got down on one knee in front of her and opened the box.

It revealed a simple golden band with a perfect black opal surrounded by small emeralds. It had belonged to his mother and, as tradition, moved on in the family via first-born sons. His mother had always told him there was a bit of magic to that ring, and he hoped it would mean good things for him and Sonya. Hell, even if it didn’t, he was pretty sure he could overcome any bad juju with Sonya by his side. Hadn’t he already dealt with his ghosts from the past?

“Sonya Blackpaw. Will you do me the honor of being my bride? I’ll promise to tell you everything, always. And I will promise to never let anything happen to you. You’re mine and I am yours.”

His voice didn’t shake at all. There was nothing to fear. He loved her with all his heart, and he was sure she knew it. Knowing Sonya, if she’d felt any less for him, she would have ducked out through a window a long time ago. She beamed, smiling wide. Sonya threw her arms around his neck, and Diesel pulled her into his embrace, nuzzling her neck.

  “Yup,” she replied.

That’s all he really needed. He slipped the ring on her finger and it fit perfectly. Just like he knew they would fit together – perfectly.

  BILLIONBEARS’ NEW HONEY EXCERPT

“We ain’t in Kansas no more,” Rush Dean drawled in his best Southern twang.

Any other time, it would have scraped Rhett’s ears, but this time he didn’t mind. Hell, he even chuckled.

“You’re right about that,” Rhett agreed.

They were both sitting on the hoods of their matching blue F-250s and the nearer they’d gotten to Shifter Grove, the more awkward he felt driving the big truck. He was no cowboy and neither was his brother, or at least they hadn’t been for a long time. The sun was slowly setting behind the hulking mountains and Shifter Grove, nestled in a cushy little valley, was basking in the last rays. The Dean brothers had stopped on a hillside that gave them a good view of the town to have a moment of peace before rolling in.

Rhett hadn’t even had to radio over to Rush to tell him to stop. Operating on the same wavelength as usual, Rush had gotten the idea to take a break before rolling into town probably at the same moment as Rhett had. Anyway, when they came to a stop, neither one of them was even a little bit surprised at what the other had been thinking.

“So, you think Mama’s gonna have a big spread for us waiting? I’m fucking famished,” Rush said, leaning back on his elbows and chewing on some sort of a stalk he’d plucked from the tall grass.

Rhett shrugged. His thoughts were as far away from food as they could have been, though he heard his stomach growling angrily at him. Maybe dinner was a good idea. They hadn’t stopped to eat since sometime at dawn, when they’d driven past a pancake place and gone to town on their all you can eat policy. Those people didn’t know what they were getting themselves into, offering unlimited servings to two Mississippi black bears. But the pancakes had been damn delicious and the Dean boys had left a generous tip.

“Probably. I bet she’ll be ecstatic to see us.”

“Billionaire Boys return to their mother, the town remains indifferent,” Rush said, moving his hand through the air as if he was envisioning a headline in the local newspaper.

Does Shifter Grove even have a newspaper? Probably not.

“I’d be surprised if we’d be the first ones in Shifter Grove, though. Shifters have been killing it lately. Must be all that pent up animal rage, making them take the business world by storm. But I don’t know how many of them return to be chided by their mother, though,” Rhett said, chuckling.

He dragged a hand through his messy auburn hair and then scratched his chin. He hadn’t shaved in days. That hadn’t happened in forever. He kind of liked it.

“Well, money can’t buy you happiness, but it sure keeps the local mammal population safe and sound,” Rush noted with a yawn, adjusting his sunglasses.

Rhett and Rush Dean weren’t your average black bear shifters. Alpha twins, they’d been destined for glory since the moment they were born. To the best of their ability, they had made good on that natural ability. Not only were they athletic, Rush in particular, but they’d made it their business to know everything they could about the world around them. Rhett made his first million at eighteen, putting up a hardware exchange business back home in Mississippi, and Rush had picked up a big endorsement the same year for his mountain biking achievements.

Now, they were both made men in their own right. Together, they owned expansive oil fields in both Texas and up north and though Rush had hung up his helmet some time ago, he still managed a number of top athletes through a firm he owned. Rhett had kept close to his roots as well, owning Dean’s Hardware, the first and foremost seller of heavy equipment in the east.

Yet, here they were, hanging out in bumfuck Idaho, considering their options on approaching their mother. Rhett felt Rush’s clear blue eyes on him and looked over to his younger brother by a few minutes, cocking his head to the side.

“You thinking what I’m thinking?” Rush asked.

“That mama’s going to have us married off so fast we won’t know what hit us? Yeah.”

“She’s going to be so annoyed with us…” Rush said.
