How the Rogue Stole Christmas Page 21

by Rosemary Stevens

“Oh.” Her voice came out even smaller.

Jordan pulled back his head and looked down at her. “Is that all you can say?”

  “Oh, Your Highness?” Margery tried.

Jordan gave a shout of laughter and drew her into his arms. “I know you are cold, and it will be a long walk back to Altham House unless someone in the stables is alerted to our predicament when Old Bart returns without us. But, Margery, I must know your feelings. It is true that I have had a reputation as—”

“Shh!” Margery said, silencing him with a finger placed lightly on his lips. “The past matters not. I love you, Jordan.”

The viscount let her know just what he thought of the gift she had given him by kissing her breathless.

When at last he could pull himself away, he smiled down into her eyes. “Say you will marry me, Margery. Make this the most special Christmas of my life.”

“Yes, I shall marry you,” Margery said happily, her eyes shining, but not from tears. “And every Christmas from now on will be a happy Christmas.”

  And they all were.

With love for my family—Tommy, Rachel, and Alana

With special thanks to Melissa Lynn Jones

In memory of Rose K. Martin—may you find peace at last, mom. I love you.

  About the Author

Rosemary Stevens researched and wrote her first Regency romance in 1994. A Crime of Manners was a finalist in the HOLT Medallion awards. She went on to have three more traditional Regency romances published, all of which featured cats. She then decided that Regency dandy, Beau Brummell, was secretly solving murder mysteries. Death On a Silver won both the Agatha Award and the Romantic Times Award for Best First Mystery. Three more books followed.

Under the pen name Rosemary Martin, she is also the author of a comedic mystery series set in the swinging 1960s featuring a naïve secretary and her worldly stewardess roommate. Rosemary Stevens can be reached via her website: www.rosemarystevens.com
