‘Eve… Nathaniel, please, will you stop for just a second,’ Cain sighed with exasperation. ‘Eve… The end of the world, it’s coming.’
I stared at him for a moment, confused. Is this what he had come to tell me? This was hardly significant news. ‘Cain, I know this, that’s what I’ve given up my life for, to save the world, when the end comes in three or five years’ time, I’ll be ready…’
‘Eve, it’s not five years, it’s not even one, something’s changed, something has brought it forward. Before the year is out, unless you can stop it, the world will be destroyed.’
