He lit his own smoke and inhaled deeply. “Big shit is going down with the Irish.”
“Okay… And?” I sat in my chair and stretched out. “The Irish always have shit happening. They’re dramatic. They throw a Molotov cocktail to open a door.”
“It’s the Irish here. In the states.”
“And?” I repeated. “They’re fookin’ dramatic, too.”
“Rumor is they’ve started a new business venture. Which I couldn’t give a damn about, except your name came up.”
“Mine? Why?”
“‘Cause it involves Lars’ club.”
Going tense, I leaned forward and put my forearms on my knees. “Tell me everything.”

“Faster,” Gus begged.
“Nah, lass. Slow.”
“Faster,” she repeated, more order than request. Fire burned in her eyes as she put her feet flat to the bed and moved against me.
Fooking herself on my dick.
Her pussy—like a damn vice—gripped me. Pulled at me.
“Aye,” I agreed, giving her what we both needed. “Faster.”
“Killian,” she whispered, her voice raspy as a smile curved her lips.
The way she said my name nearly made me shoot my load. I was able to hold off until she came on my dick, but barely.
When I rolled off her a minute later, I took her with me so she was mostly sprawled over my body.
Once she caught her breath she said, “Since you were willing to fuck me, I guess whatever Dair said wasn’t too bad.”
After telling me everything he knew, multiple times, Dair had left to check into a hotel.
I’d found Gus sleeping in our bed. Her hair had been damp from the bath, and she’d been wearing one of my tees.
It was even better than her sexy as hell dress and shoes.
I’d pushed the tee up, ate her until she’d begged for my dick, then I’d made her beg some more.
Payback.
Grabbing the hand she had on my chest, the one with my ring on it, I pulled it up and pressed my lips to her palm. “Someone could tell me the world was about to fall around me, mo chuisle, and I’d still want to fook you.”
She laughed softly. “Seriously, though, is everything okay?”
“I dunno,” I answered honestly. “It’s all whispers right now, but Dair is gonna stick around while we figure it out and make it okay.”
“Good,” she said instantly.
Trusting me.
I kissed the top of her head. “Love you, mo chuisle.”
“Love you, too.”
A few minutes later, she turned and curled on her side. And a few minutes after that, she was asleep.
But I wasn’t.
Dair’s words replayed in my mind. My gut echoed what he’d already said.
Shit was about to get bad.
Going up on my elbow, I watched Gus sleeping easy. Trusting me and knowing I’d die to keep her safe.
Dair had said I looked at her like my world revolved around her.
He’d been wrong.
I looked at her like she was my whole fookin’ world.
The thing that kept me alive.
My pulse.
Curling back around her, I palmed her tit and pussy before breathing deep. Even with the shitstorm brewing, I felt calm.
With the ugly shit that’d happened in my life, calm wasn’t something I’d felt until I’d seen a flah lass. One who was messy as shit, obsessed with tacos, petty, stubborn, funny as fook, smart as hell, and a shit-ton of other things that made my dick hard.
One who I’d live and fookin’ die to make as happy as she made me.
Until Gus.

Six years later…
“I’m basically a bunny now,” my wife muttered, looking longingly toward me.
Not at me.
Nah, all her want was directed at the mug in my hand.
Making a mental note to not drink it around her, I set the coffee down and closed the distance between us, pressing her against the counter so she could feel how hard I was. “Which one of us threw out your pills?”
“Well, me, but—”
“And climbed on my dick the minute I got back into town because your app said it was the right time?”
Gus tilted her head. “I mean, I technically always do that.”
I pushed in tighter, and her hands went to my chest, the pregnancy test still clutched in one. “Aye, but you don’t always stay in bed after with a pillow under your ass.”
“That was just—”
“I’ve never been so fookin’ happy, mo chuisle. And when Bonny and Teagan find out they’re finally getting the baby brother they want, they’re gonna be thrilled, too.”
“A brother? I’m, like, a day pregnant. The baby doesn’t even know what it is.”
“It’s a boy. And I’m always right, aye?”
Heat filled my wife’s gaze as she went up on her toes. “Aye.”
“Playing with fookin’ fire,” I growled before covering her mouth with mine.
Before I could lift her onto the counter, Nolan ran through the house, sounding like an elephant on steroids.
There were only three people who made him that excited, and one was already there, making me excited.
Gus tore her mouth from mine. “Girls are home.”
“Aye.” I stepped away and held her eyes as I adjusted my hard dick.
“Now who’s the tease?” She tossed the pregnancy test in the junk drawer, hiding the evidence.
My smile faded as I cupped her cheek. “You good?”
“Out of my mind happy,” she said with a wide grin. “I mean, I was looking forward to having a few drinks at Kase and Harlow’s, but it’s not like I’ll be the only one enjoying virgin margaritas.”
That was true.
The door banged open, and loud chatter and laughter filled the foyer.
It’d taken a lot of convincing, but when Gus had gotten pregnant with Teagan, she’d finally agreed to move out of the city. She’d shot down every listing we’d seen until finding one that mentioned exposed beam ceilings. Once I’d promised to redo the bathroom and put a brick backdrop in the kitchen, she’d tried to singlehandedly pack the apartment.
“Sorry we’re late,” Carol Anne called out. “We lost track of time at the park.”
Bonny, at the wise age of five, nodded her agreement.
Teagan, only three, was still as filterless as a drunk lass. “And we got ice cream!”
Bonny rolled her eyes. “Told you she can’t keep a secret.”
“It was worth a shot,” Carol Anne said, not looking surprised or ashamed.
“Meema, we talked about this,” Gus said.
“And I told you, spoiling great-grandkids is what Meemas do.” Her voice dropped to a whisper. “Plus, I need the extra practice if there’s gonna be one more to spoil.”
Gus’ jaw dropped. “How did you know?”
Flicking her wrist, Carol Anne boasted, “I always know.” Her face split into a grin as she pulled us into a hug. “I’ve got plans to play euchre and con some suckers out of dessert. We’ll celebrate soon.”
After saying goodbye to the girls, she rushed out the door, her schedule busier than all of ours combined.
“Go wash up and get changed,” my wife told our daughters. “We need to be at Uncle Kase and Aunt Harlow’s soon.”
“Will Lia be there?” Bonny asked.
“Since she’s their daughter, I’m betting yes.”
“Awesome!” she shouted as she ran to the stairs.
“Yeah! Awesuuummmm,” Teagan echoed as she went, always wanting to be like her big sister.
As soon as they were out of the room, Gus face-planted into my chest. “We’re having another,” she muttered, her words coming out muffled.
We were heading to a cookout with good friends. Our daughters were happy and filled with sugar, likely causing chaos instead of
getting ready. My wife was in my arms, our baby growing in her.
I pressed my smiling lips to the top of her head. “Aye, we’re that fookin’ lucky.”
Six years before, with Gus in my bed, I’d felt calm.
But in that moment, I was peacefully content in a way I never knew I could be.
Until Gus…
And Bonny, Teagan, and my unborn lad.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Layla Frost has always been a rebel. A true badass.
Growing up, Layla used to hide under her blanket with a flashlight to read the Sweet Valley High books she pilfered from her older sister. It wasn’t long before she was reading hidden Harlequins during class at school. This snowballed into pulling all-nighters after the promise of “just one more chapter”.
Her love of reading, especially the romance genre, took root early and has grown immeasurably.
In between reading and writing, Layla spends her free time rocking out (at concerts, on the couch, in the car… Anywhere is a stage if you get into it enough), watching TV (the nerdier the better!), and being a foodie. Though she lives in NY (the state, not the city), she’s an avid Red Sox fan.
