“Mmmm,” I moaned, as his delicious taste washed over my tongue.

I held him there for a moment, letting him enjoy the warm wetness of my mouth. Then, when I was ready, I moved down along the length of him, taking him into my mouth inch by inch.

As I moved closer to the base, I wondered if I was going to be able to take all of him into my mouth. But I closed my eyes, relaxed, and brought him down along my tongue. Moments later, I'd reached the end. Another moan sounded from Rhys at the sight of me with my mouth full of him.

Rhys glanced down and I met his eyes, my expression narrowed in naughty delight. He slipped his hands into my hair and guided me back towards his head. I wrapped my hand around his length and began stroking him slowly and firmly. Soon, I was in a steady rhythm, stroking him as I bobbed up and down on his member. I swirled around his head with my tongue as I sucked him, and soon the sweet, salty taste of his pre-cum filled my mouth.

Before he could come, however, Rhys bent down and slipped his hands under my arms. He pulled me up gently, his cock sliding out of my mouth. I glanced down at the now-glistening member, noting the dripping white liquid at the end of it.

“I need to be inside of you, right now,” he said, his voice low and hot.

Before I could say anything, he bent down and scooped me into his arms. Stepping out of his pants and shoes, he carried me to the bedroom and set me down. My eyes lingered on his now naked body. At that moment, I needed him in me more than I'd needed anything else in my life.

Rhys didn't make me wait. In a fluid motion, he swooped on top of me and quickly got me out of my pants and panties. I lay nude below him, the hard roundness of his head pressed against my wetness.

“I love you,” he said, looking down at me with those killer blue eyes.

“I love you, too,” I said.

Then, we kissed. As we did, Rhys reached down and took hold of his cock. He pressed it against my opening, the anticipation now beyond toleration. With a smooth motion, he entered me, my insides so wet that I took every bit of him without any trouble at all.

“Oh my God!” I gushed, my fingers digging in to the skin of his upper arms.

“You feel so good, babe,” he said, his length buried to the hilt.

I opened my mouth to speak, but the pleasure was so intense that only a weak moan escaped my lips. Rhys positioned his palms on both sides of my head and lifted his body up, giving me a full view of his cock moving in and out of me. My eyes locked onto it, the hypnotic sight of it unsheathing and burying over and over again. Turning my head to the side, I took in the view of the muscles of his upper arms flexing and tensing with each slow descent of hips.

It was, by far, the most sensual lovemaking of my life. I took in one sharp breath after another, the ecstasy building more and more by the moment. Rhys stared down hard at me, his blue eyes narrowed with both erotic heat and the love that I knew—beyond a shadow of a doubt—that he felt for me.

His pace quickened, and soon, I felt the throbbing pulse of an orgasm on the brink.

“Don't stop,” I moaned. “I'm almost there; I'm so close.”

It was clear he had no intention of stopping. He moved into me, deeper and deeper, filling me again and again. Soon, the orgasm exploded inside of me, running through my body like a white-hot light of pure sensual joy. I moaned and squirmed under him, my hands gripping his ass hard, holding him in place. Rhys came as I did, the muscles of his whole body tensing as he shot himself deep into me. He lowered his body and wrapped his arms around me, holding me tight against his warmth as we came together.

Soon, our orgasms faded. Rhys, his hair now even more wild around his face, smiled and kissed me before pulling out from me. With a heave, he fell to my side.

There was nothing to be said. Love in our hearts, we looked into each other's eyes as our hands moved slowly over one another's bodies. Everything I wanted was right there with me.

  Chapter 23

  Rhys

I awoke the next morning to the sound of my phone buzzing on the nightstand. With a quick movement, my eyes still closed, I reached over and pressed the button to silence it. I wrapped my arm around Cassidy, pulling her warm, soft body close, and prepared to slip back into sleep.

Then, the phone buzzed again. I repeated the process, silencing it and returning to Cassidy's side.

Then it buzzed again, then again. And again.

“What's going on over there?” asked Cassidy sleepily. “You're blowing up.”

“No idea, but it's someone who doesn't have the good sense not to bother me on a Saturday morning.”

By this point, I had accepted that I wasn't going to get back to sleep. The morning light filled the bedroom, and I realized that it was likely time to get up and about, anyway. I sat up and grabbed my phone, my eyes going wide as I looked at the screen.

“What is it?” asked Cassidy as she rolled over, her bare breasts threatening to distract me.

“It's my publicist,” I said. “Or, I should say, my publicity team. They've been trying to get a hold of me all night.”

“Why?” asked Cassidy, her voice heavy with sleep, her hair tossed lightly around her lovely face.

  “I think you know why.”

Cassidy looked confused for a moment before a sudden flash of realization formed on her features.

  “Oh…” she said. “Nina.”

“Yep,” I said. “My team wants to know why I threw away our little ruse without even bothering to check with them first.”

I wanted to toss the phone aside and turn my attention to Cassidy fully, but I had to deal with this at some point.

“You oughta call them back,” said Cassidy, resting her head on my leg. “Tell them something.”

“You're right,” I said, pulling up the number for Ethan Stein, the head of my publicity team.

I only heard about half of a ring before Ethan picked up and spoke in his usual frantic tone.

“Rhys!” he shouted. “Now, I know you're my boss, and I know it's your name on my paycheck, so take this with the respect that should be intended, but just what the hell did you do?”

  I could only smirk.

“I unilaterally decided to put an end to the Nina situation.”

“Unilaterally is certainly one freakin’ way to put it!” he exclaimed. “You're on the front page of every damn rag in this town! You and that big goddamn wine stain on your shirt!”

“I know,” I said. “It'll be out of the news cycles in a day or two.”

“Well, no kidding,” said Ethan. “Once they get a whiff of something else, they'll flock over to it like the vultures they are. But this is quite a thing to have your name associated with! Couldn't you have, you know, handled this a little more diplomatically?”

“I made my decision and wanted to get it all over with as soon as possible.”

“I can freakin' see that,” said Ethan.

I glanced down at Cassidy. Her head was still lying on my leg, and I swept my hand over her hair. There wasn't a doubt in my mind that I'd done the right thing.

“If you wanted to break things off, you could've done it all through me and her team. No muss, no fuss! We'd have had this all planned out for you in the least dramatic way possible,” continued Ethan.

“What's done is done,” I said, my voice still calm.

“No kidding. No crying over spilled milk—or tossed wine, in this case. But Rhys, another month of you two in the headlines would've been such a killer boost to the lines you have coming up. Can I ask why, exactly, you decided to do this?”

I glanced down at Cassidy once again.

“Just had other priorities. I'll give you all the details later, Ethan.”

“As mysterious as ever,” he said. “Keep me posted, I guess. And try not to piss off any more women in the meantime.”

  “Thanks, Ethan.”

I took a look at the other missed calls and texts, nearly all of them either other people from my publicity department or gossip rags l
ooking for an interview.

“Looks like you've got a busy day ahead of you,” said Cassidy. “Getting this mess cleaned up.”

“I do have a busy day ahead,” I said. “A busy day with you.”

  Cassidy's eyes went wide.

“Are you serious? Don't you have, um, a PR crisis to attend to?”

“It's what I pay my team for,” I said. “Besides, a media blackout for the weekend is the best thing I can do. Once they realize that the breakup peaked with the wine, they'll get bored and move on.”

“Then…” started Cassidy, “what exactly did you have in mind?”

A cheeky smile formed on my face before I leaned in and let her know just what I was thinking about.

An hour later, the two of us were showered and ready for the day.

“Might I ask what's on the agenda, Mr. Cole?”

“Whatever you want, my darling Miss May. I was thinking you and I could grab a quick breakfast before taking the convertible down the coast. Maybe a little lunch before we head back into town.”

“Any plans for the afternoon?” she asked.

“Not so far. Why, you have something in mind?”

“I got a text from one of the volunteers at my animal shelter. She had a family thing come up and her two-to-four shift is open. Feel like hanging out with some dogs later?”

  “Always.”

And with that, we were off.

The day was sunny and the weather was perfect for a day of fun. We grabbed a quick breakfast of Belgian waffles at the diner around the corner, going for a little walk afterward to my place. Once at my place, we loaded up in my silver convertible and took a long drive down the coast, the wind in our hair and the sun on our faces.

After the drive, we stopped at a park on the coast for a quick bite to eat, taking a little break for some more, ahem, fun, in a secluded little area we found. Once back in the city, we headed to the shelter for an hour. The shelter was having a slow day, and all that needed to be done was to take a few of the dogs for walks.

The pups were all great, but I found myself particularly drawn to an adorable chocolate lab named Roscoe. And, judging by the way he licked my face when it came time to say goodbye, the feeling was more than mutual.

“I think you've got a new little buddy there,” said Cassidy, a conspiratorial smile on her face.

“I think you're right,” I said, scratching the puppy behind the ears as he panted happily.

“You know, these animals are up for adoption,” she said.

“Not a chance,” I said. “Too busy for that.”

“I bet a year ago you would've said that you were too busy for kids, too,” she said.

  “Touché,” I grinned.

I gave Roscoe a few more pets before sending him back to his kennel, and Cassidy flashed me another look that seemed to indicate that she wasn't done with this particular topic.

Once our shift at the shelter was over, we stepped out into the cool evening air, the day having energized the both of us.

“What's next for our fabulous day out?” Cassidy asked.

“Well, I made a reservation at Chateau Michelle for eight, so there's that.”

“A reservation?” she asked, surprised. “When did you pull that little trick off?”

“I can be sneaky when I want to be,” I said.

“Well, then,” she said. “That still leaves us with a couple of hours before then. Plus, we'll need to get ready.”

“Let me tell you what I had in mind,” I said. “My place is a little bit of a bachelor pad, as I'm sure you've noticed.”

“That I have,” she said with a wink.

“What would you say to stopping by a baby store and picking out a few necessities? Never too early to find out where we're going to put three cribs, after all.”

Cassidy agreed readily, and with that, we were off.

As soon as we stepped over the threshold of the store, Cassidy was off to the races. She zipped down each aisle, eagerly looking over the various baby supplies and loading whatever caught her eye into our cart. I was totally out of my element in the store, and was more than happy to let her take the reins.

One of the employees stopped by to help, and once I told her that Cassidy was calling the shots with this matter, it was all over. The two of them went off, tossing this thing and that into the cart excitedly.

When we were done, bags in hand, we headed back to the apartment to get ready for our evening out. I put on one of my tuxes—a recent design that hadn't hit the shelves yet—and had one of my assistants bring Cassidy a dress from Cole Apparel’s ready-to-wear line. It was a stunning green gown which complemented her eyes perfectly and flowed over her baby bump. She did her hair up in eye-catching curls, and looked the picture of glowing, mother-to-be beauty.

As she stepped out into the living room to show me her outfit, a strange sensation flowed from my heart outwards. I knew this was love—that was beyond dispute—but seeing her standing there, in all her radiant charm, made me realize that this was the woman with whom I was fated to spend the rest of my life.

“Something wrong?” she asked, giving me one last twirl.

“Nothing,” I said, feeling overwhelmed by emotion. “You just look beautiful, is all.”

That answer seemed to make her happy, as she rushed over to me, threw her arms around my shoulders, and planted a kiss on my lips.

“I just thought of something,” she said, looking away in thought.

“Uh-oh,” I said. “What is it?”

“Well, this whole thing with you and me…no one knows about it, right?”

I knew right then what she was getting at.

  “Not a soul,” I said.

“Then…doesn't that mean that us going out on the town will make people think that we're, you know, some kind of item?”

  “Aren't we?”

That answer seemed to please her. A little hint of a smile tugged at the corner of one side of her mouth.

“I suppose we are. But I mean, what with you and Nina ‘breaking up,’ the tabloids will be all over this.”

I stepped over to Cassidy and took her hands into mine.

“The lies are over,” I said. “You're the mother of my children, and I love you. If the people want to talk, then let them talk. Just try not to throw a glass of wine in my face.”

  She flashed me a smirk.

“Only if you stay on your best behavior.”

  “I'll try.”

With that, I gestured towards the elevator and we were off. I couldn't keep my hands off of Cassidy during the ride over. We necked in the backseat of the limo like a couple of high-schoolers, and only our arrival at Chateau Michelle prevented things from getting even hotter.

Stepping into the elegant, low-lit restaurant, we were led to our table in the back corner. The position of the restaurant on one of the sloping hills of San Bravado afforded a lovely view of the city, the silver sliver of the moon hanging over the dark waters of the ocean off in the distance.

As Cassidy and I chatted, I couldn't help but notice the glances of the patrons around us.

“Don't worry,” she said. “I see them, too.”

Part of me bristled at being the subject of attention, but my desire to be with Cassidy was stronger than my desire to not be a subject of gossip.

“You want to get out of here?” Cassidy asked, her voice laced with concern.

I reached across the table and took her hands.

  “Wouldn't dream of it.”

Dinner went on, with the two of us chatting about our plans for the future, after the babies were born.

“You know,” I said, polishing off the last bit of my steak, “I'm starting to think that my penthouse isn't going to have the space that three kids will need.”

  Cassidy raised an eyebrow.

  “What're you thinking?”

“Just that I might need to start thinking about other properties.”

  “House shopping?” she asked, her
eyes lighting up.

I couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm.

“Not so fast,” I said. “In case you've forgotten, we've still got our collaboration to worry about.”

“Oh, I haven't,” said Cassidy. “I've been spending just about every minute of my free time finishing up the last couple of designs. Should have them sent over to you guys by the end of the week.”

“Perfect,” I said. “Then we can get everything ready for a fall reveal in a few months.”

  “You nervous?” she asked.

“What would I have to be nervous about?”

“I don't know,” she said, looking away. “That you're going to be hinging your reputation on the work of a newbie like me. That people might think that you only gave me the job because we're involved, because—”

  I stopped her there.

“People are going to talk,” I said. “No matter what. Those people live for gossip—it's how they make their living. If they didn't have any to talk about, they'd make something up and write about that. Now that you and I are going to be out about our relationship, you're going to have to learn to ignore others’ opinions.”

  Cassidy nodded in understanding.

“Just something that I've never had to worry about before.”

“I'll be here to walk you through it,” I said, giving her a smile and a hand squeeze.

She returned my smile, her expression making it clear she was ready for anything. Just at that moment, our waiter, a trim young man with a head of frizzy dark hair, approached the table.

“Can I interest you both in some dessert?” he asked as he took the empty plates from our table.

  “Sure, we'll take a lo—”

Then, something caught my attention. On the pocket of the stark-white fabric of waiter's dress shirt was a small black hole, no larger than the size of a pencil eraser. I turned my head to look, and saw that there was something in the pocket, a rectangular shape that couldn't be anything other than a phone. The hole had been punched through the shirt so that the camera would have an unobstructed view.

A view of Cassidy and me, that is.
