The Ducal Detective (Ducal Detective Mysteries Book 1) Page 10

by Sarah E. Burr

In the days that followed the trial, Jax did not have the slightest desire to visit Arnie, her curiosity satisfied as to why the woman she loved as a sister betrayed her. In the end, Arnie’s love for Hadrian and lust for ducal power won out. People did horrible things for love, she thought as she strolled in the moonlight under a garden trellis. But people also did wonderful things for love, as well.

Perry’s figure stood in the clearing before her, moonlight pooling around him. He’d been her rock since the moment she clasped his hand, their bond growing tighter with each passing minute. She knew she owed Duke Pettraud and Courtier Rence a finite answer. Where she once felt that she would begrudgingly accept the offer, she now looked forward to the moment when she would secure her future with Perry. Her father always wished that she’d be able to marry for love, and she had a feeling that it might just come true.
