“No—no I’m not ignoring you! I promise—” Kapono snapped his fingers. His flare of fire silenced her. Ashbel’s eyes were wide as she stared at his purple flames. In her mind, she should have been afraid of him. She should be running away from what he would do to her but instead she was rooted in place, unable to move. It was not fear that froze her however. It was something else entirely. Captivation? Curiosity? In front of her, his fire slowly formed into the shape of a whip, moving as if it was a snake. Kapono cracked the whip in her direction. Ashbel closed her eyes and winced, waiting for the fiery slash of pain. No such pain came however. The fire whip slashed across her dress, burning with completely away from her body. As her clothes fell to ashes, Ashbel just looked at her husband. Her chest was rising and falling with intensity. She should have been used to being naked in front of her own husband, but standing there as she was; it felt erotic. Almost too erotic where she felt like she had to hide her face from embarrassment. She was never the woman to seduce a man and it showed.

Kapono cracked his whip again but when it landed on her body, the touch was gentle and hot. With his wrist, he expertly moved the whip along her body as if he was some sort of snake master. Ashbel could hardly breathe as the heat from the whip glided across her body. It wrapped around her nipples and squeezed gently before moving down her stomach to the apex of her thighs. Ashbel crumbled over when it passed between the lips of her core. As a fire being, heat meant everything to them. It was their sustenance; their food, their energy, their life, and even their pleasure. Having something so warm and gentle against the slipperiness of her clit was just too much to handle. When she fell to the floor, Kapono let the fire whip disperse. Ashbel was breathing heavily as he approached her. Without a word, he scooped her up from the ground and strode into their bedroom. He used his food to kick the door shut.

“What is your plan then? What is this lesson you claim to have to teach me?” Ashbel questioned. Kapono dropped her onto the bed carelessly.

“I do not mind spoiling you Ashbel. But I take offense when you can be so spoiled that you do not realize your right and your wrongs. Have you ever heard, spare the rod, spoil the child?” As he spoke, he slowly unbuttoned his pants and shrugged them off his hips. The thickness sprouting from his hips was already dribbling with excitement.

“Y—Yes I have heard the sentiment. My mother has said it to me plenty of times,” Ashbel gulped.

“I have my own version of that,” Kapono stated. He stood in between her legs. Even with the height of the bed, he was still tall enough for their bodies to match up perfectly. Ashbel thought he would enter her just like that but instead, he held the swell of her hips and flipped her over. This was not a position they had tried ever before. With her newness in intimacy, he never made any move that would make her uncomfortable in the slightest. This time, he didn’t question if she was comfortable. He set her on her hands and knees and pushed her head into the mattress, leaving her bottom high in the air. She felt so exposed, but there was nothing she could do about it. He was not letting her move. Leaning over her, he bit her earlobe.

“Spare the rod, spoil the wife.” With that said, he sunk his entire length deep within her. Ashbel screamed into the mattress as his thickness seemed to tear her apart. When it seemed as if he couldn’t get any deeper, he simply made her arch her back and continued to fill her up.

“If I continue to spare you with tender love making and easy positions, then I would just continue to spoil you. I hope that you will find this lesson to be informative. Your husband will not tolerate your disrespect. I vow to listen to your every complaint Ashbel, but you will tell me of those complaints in a civilized manner.” As he spoke, he pounded into her steadily. The smack of their bodies on his inward thrust echoed off their bedroom walls. Ashbel was stunned into silence, her mouth open against the bed as her body tried to register what was happening to her. There was pleasure, but then there was pain. The pain seemed to make the pleasure even more pleasurable. It all made no sense to her and Ashbel couldn’t even fathom was what happening. All there was left to do was take what her husband was giving to her. The rough spot that he had found within her walls from the very beginning was being pressed again. In this position it felt almost too good. Too good where the line between pain and pleasure met. Ashbel brought her hand back and pushed against Kapono’s stomach.

“Kapono, it is too much for me to handle. Please. You must pull out,” Ashbel moaned. Her thighs began to shake.

  “Too much you say?”

  “Please.”

“I will be easy on you when I hear the right words Ashbel.” He pushed their bodies forward, climbing onto the bed behind her. Holding her wrist, he confined her hands to the arch in her back and rose above her as he if he was going to do pushups and continued to dive within her. The angle of his strokes gave him leverage to pound recklessly at her golden spot. Her body began to spew pleasure. Her eyes burned with tears from the sheer force. It was too much, yet she was still being brought to an intense release. She just could not handle it. Yet, she did not know the words he needed to hear.

“You—you’re going to rip me apart,” Ashbel moaned out, desperately trying to escape from under him.

“You want me to stop?” he grumbled in her ear.

“I want to cum. But not like this. I—I just can’t take it.” Her stomach was bulging from the intensity of his thrusts.

“You disrespected me in a place where you should not have. What do you think it is that I need to hear Ashbel?” he questioned. Ashbel didn’t have a chance to answer. Her body began to erupt with an orgasm so heavy it made her lose vision. Pleasure tangled her stomach in deep rooted knots that he just kept pounding and pounding. She couldn’t even hold herself up anymore. Falling onto her stomach, she thought she could escape the array of thrusts, but he simply adjusted his position. Kneeling, he held onto her waist as her upper body was laying limply and just continued to thrust and pound her body. She was unresponsive except for the spurts of her honey splashing with each inward thrust. She tried to flail her arms to get him to stop but nothing worked. He needed to hear something from her. She’d disrespected him in front of elders. Even if Kapono was not a brute, showing that he had a firm grip on his marriage and wife was important to all men. He would never control her but he was the man. He made the rules. He provided and protected. It finally clicked in her brain. She had stepped out of line.

“I—my dear husband. I apologize,” Ashbel said weakly.

Kapono froze. He was embedded deep within her, stuck so far in her stomach. His erection slowly began to heat up. Ashbel realized he was using his fire power to send heat directly to his elongated member. Loving the heat, Ashbel’s body ate it up, pulsing and throbbing. It caressed her beaten insides. He slowly pulled out of her before pushing back in with ease. The rub of his tip against her g-spot so tenderly had her ready to erupt. He stroked her with tenderness until her body did erupt but this time the intensity was severely drawn back. It ended with his hot seed spilling into her body.

Ashbel couldn’t move. She was laying flat on her stomach, her legs spread apart. Kapono slid off the bed, rolling his shoulders as if he had a kink. He looked at her from where he stood.

“Keep this in mind when you find yourself ready to speak out of line to me, Ashbel. I am not to kind of husband that spares the rod for this wife. Have you learned your lesson?” Ashbel just nodded, her head still laying on the mattress.

  “Good.”

“This was very savage of you Kapono!” Ashbel snapped. “We will not be engaging in any intimacy after this night! Do you hear me?”

“Still so feisty,” Kapono sighed. He shook his head. “I have many lessons to teach apparently.” He strode back over to the bed. Ashbel tried to will her body to move and to run away from him but he grabbed her ankle and yanked her towards him.

“Please don’t enter me again. It’s too sensitive. Haven’t you beaten it up enough?” Ashbel complained. Kapono took her
arm and turned her body around so it was her face in front of him and not her rear.

“That is not the hole I intend to fill. It’s the hole in your face that does not seem to know when it quit.” Holding the back of her neck, he pressed the thick tip and his penis against her lips. He had always pleasured her with his mouth and never asked for it in return. This would be her first time. Again, he was proving that he was truly sparing her the rod and it really did spoil her.

“Open your mouth and take me in. I am hoping that afterwards, your jaw will be too tired for you to talk so much,” he said.

“But I—” that was a mistake. The moment she opened to speak, he shoved his way inside, fitting himself down her throat.

“Hey, relax my little flame.” His words were tender. So tender in fact that Ashbel listened. She would never think of doing such a thing, yet her body made her respond with excitement. Having her husband in her mouth made her eager. She began moving on her own, sucking him in and out of her mouth.

“Good girl.” Kapono caressed her head.

“You did not mean what you said, did you? Both you and your body want me to give pleasure. You will not cut me off from touching you, will you?” Kapono asked. Ashbel shook her head and groaned as she continued to suck.

“And you want me, don’t you?” Ashbel nodded.

“If you do not learn how to behave, I will continue to punish you. You don’t want to be punished, right?” Ashbel shook her head.

“So, you will be my good wife? Won’t you?” Ashbel nodded hastily. She popped his penis from her mouth and looked up at him. Her sparkling golden eyes made his heart pitch. Blazes. She was so beautiful.

“I will be a good wife to you Kapono. I promise.”

“And I will be a good husband to you Ashbel.” With eagerness, Ashbel quickly sucked her husband back into her mouth, wanting to prove how good a wife she could be.

Ashbel kept quiet as she watched Kapono conduct a meeting with the heads of the royal army. He had never invited her to any of his meetings, but after her lessons they had a long talk. She had explained that she wanted to be included in some of his duties. Ashbel did not think he would make those changes but within the next day, he was adhering to her wishes and bringing her with him. It showed her a side of her husband that made Ashbel proud. From that moment on she realized she would have no trouble listening to any order he gave her because she knew he would listen to her wants and needs and provide for her.

“Sire, some of the new recruits are talentless but they sign up for the army because of the money they can earn. We have to be able to differentiate between recruits who can fight and those who just need money,” the army lead spoke up. Kapono stroked his beard and nodded.

“And they get through vigorous training without talent?” Kapono asked.

“Training is easy enough to get through if you have good stamina and you show up every day. Talent and fighting skills do not come into play.”

“If I might suggest something,” Ashbel spoke of. “What is training is only reserved for recruits who pass an intense written and physical exam. We can test their fighting skills before we put any effort into any training. If they cannot pass the test, they cannot be part of the army. But sometimes there are those who may not be talented but have a fighting spirit, they just need to learn. We can incorporate classes for those who cannot pass the exam to get them ready to pass the exam. After all we do want the people who protect us to have the fighting spirit and the desire to work for the army,” Ashbel explained. The head of the army scoffed at her.

‘My apologies lady Ashbel but as a woman, you do not know if the ins and out of the royal army. This is not a matter that you should have any say in. Do not interfere.” Ashbel pulled away, feeling embarrassed to be told off in a room full of people. Yes, she was a woman but did that mean she had no good ideas or was not allowed to speak out?

“General Tread.” Kapono said his name before launching a ball of purple fire directly at his face. The general was engulfed in flames before the other army attendants hurried to help pat the fire out.

“Next time. I’ll make sure my fire power is enough to turn you to ash. Don’t ever speak to my wife that way again. That goes for all of you. As future queen, Ashbel has say in whatever matters this kingdom has to deal with. Punishment will be heavy and quick if she is disrespected. I am a man of the throne but I will fight like a savage to defend my wife’s honor. Her suggestion will be put into play. Arrange the test and the schooling. Dismissed.”

Ashbel was dumbstruck, even as Kapono took her around the waist and let her out of the large rom. He guided her back to their suite and away from any more castle duties. Kapono threw himself onto the couch, angrily brooding for a moment. Grunting, he motioned for her to come to him.

“Come here,” he mumbled. Ashbel went to his side. He pulled her down into his lap, cradling her against his chest. He kissed her temple softly.

“I am sorry you had to hear such disrespect,” he mumbled.

“So not apologize for another man’s mistake,” Ashbel told him.

“I am your husband. I am tasked with keeping you safe from all things that set out to hurt you whether they are emotional, physical or mental. Apologies are in order when I have failed.” Ashbel smiled and shook her head.

“You nearly burned his head off for me Kapono. That was—that was very sexy of you,” Ashbel said. Kapono looked at her sharply. When she smiled, he chuckled. The deep baritone of his voice made her insides vibrate.

“And I will do it again if I have to,” he replied, stroking her orange hair. Ashbel held onto him tightly. No matter what, Kapono had never failed to make her feel safe. Even if he required her to respect him, he would never allow anyone to speak to her in any manner even if it was an esteemed official. That meant he put their marriage over his crown and his duties. To say he would become a savage to protect her honor showed that his heart beat for her. Ashbel found that her heart beat for him in the same way. Kapono inhaled her scent from her neck. His eyes widened.

“Little flame? Are you with child?” he questioned. Her scent had shifted ever so slightly, but it was enough for Kapono to detect it.

“Wondered when you would sense the change,” Ashbel laughed. She was not sure what reaction Kapono would give her but when he jumped up and shouted with glee; Ashbel did not expect that. The joy that enveloped her broke free as if I was locked away inside her body without a key. Seeing the brightness of those violet eyes and the airiness of his cheer was the true nature of his happiness.

It was in that moment where she knew that she had truly fallen in love with her husband.

  Five Months Later

“Sir, what do we do now? I’m afraid we’ve waiting too long to take action! First it was the announcement of Prince Kapono’s betrothal and now his bride is with child! The Red Dragon and the Red Breath clan are now one. We cannot hope to launch any attack. Those two clans alone are powerful and now they’re allies!” The low class dragon man was in full panic, the prospect of challenging the powerful clans frightening him beyond measure. He worked in the castle as nothing more than an attendant, seeing to the king, queen, and now the future king and queen. He was the ears and eyes behind the operation. His dragon blood was miniscule compared to anyone else in the castle. His bloodline of dragon was weak and that resulted in weakened power. It was said Prince Kapono could roar fire just as a dragon could but the lowly attendant couldn’t even burp a fireball.

  “Be calm.”

  “But sire!”

“The plan will take place as normal. I care not about what else is happening. You were the one that heard of the prince and princess’s arrangement. Their wedding was a farce just to create an ally. That means the king is as weak as I assumed him to be, and I will do as I must to keep Kapono from assuming the throne. It’s time for another clan to rule the throne. The Red Dragon and Red Breath clan have made it impossible for anyone but them to attain power and now with this marriage? It
’s as if they’re blatantly giving the middle finger to any other dragon clan in Emberdom, hell, in Fireland completely. I refuse to stand for it. My power is just as strong as anyone in the Red Dragon clan and I will not be cast aside and deemed weak.”

  “I—What shall I do now?”

“Keep as you have been doing. Give me daily reports. In three nights, I will strike. Be prepared.” He turned around sharply, his cloak fanning the floor as he stomped away.

“Jessop!” Jumping at the sound of his name, Jessop hurried away from the place he’d been meeting to conspire against the current royalty. His heart was slamming in his chest at hearing Kapono shout his name. Jessop rushed to the prince’s quarters. Inside the suite, Kapono was pacing back and forth. Although his name sounded as if it had been shouted, Kapono only spoke loud enough for Jessop’s keen hearing to hear him from wherever he was in the castle. As part of his job, he was never to be too far from Kapono or Ashbel. If Jessop did not hear the call, he would indeed face reprimand for being too far away.

  “Yes prince,” Jessop bowed.

“Ashbel is feeling a little bit under the weather today. I have two meetings to attend with my father. Can you see to it that she’s taken care of? She is a little weak, and won’t manage to call you loud enough for you to hear her if you leave the suite. Mara and Sera are also looking after her. I’m leaving you in charge.”

  “Me sir?”

“Do you not have extensive knowledge on herbs and medicine?” Kapono asked him.

“Oh yes, right. I am an herbalist. Yes.” Jessop was so shaken with the idea of helping to overrun the Red Dragon clan that even speaking with Kapono made him nervous.

“Is there something the matter?” Kapono asked him, raising a brow. Jessop stood straight. He calmed his breathing.

“No. Nothing.” Kapono observed him for a little while. He smelled the fear lacing off the man’s body but Kapono wasn’t sure if that was just because he was afraid of Kapono, or he was afraid for another reason. Still, something seemed to be off with the man.
