“If you want to be a coward then by all means go ahead, but I will not be following you anywhere!” she snapped. Ashbel shifted the weight on her feet. Her chest was rising and falling rapidly. She’d said what she had felt, but Kapono’s silence was unnerving her. He let his head fall slightly as if he was thinking about something. Ashbel only became more unnerved, unable to stay still. When Kapono finally picked his head up and looked at her, his eyes were blazing with violet flames. Ashbel gasped and took a step back, leaning into Firya. Kapono walked towards her with calm strides that contradicted the flame in his eyes. Up close and personal, Ashbel could feel the steam coming from his nose in his anger.
“We need to go have a private talk Ashbel,” he stated. Ashbel flashed back to a time where she’d spoken out against him. He raised his hand and smacked her on her bottom.
“Go,” he ordered. Ashbel gulped.
“Ladies, I’ll be right back,” Ashbel cleared her throat. With wobbly knees, she led the way back into the warehouse and down the hidden steps beneath the floorboards to the bunker. Kapono’s heat gathered around the both of them as she walked to her bedroom. He shut the door behind them. Ashbel whirled around and looked at him.
“Listen, the things I said—” Kapono put his hand up to silence her.
“But I—” he silenced her again. With his index finger pointed downwards, his twirled his wrist in a motion that told her to turn around.
“You may have forgotten how to talk to me around people Ashbel, but I’m sure you have not forgotten your punishment for that. Assume the position little flame,” he said. Ashbel’s chest blossomed with nerves while the petals between her legs blossomed with excitement. Kapono undid his pants. A throbbing erection appeared from the slit of his pants; hungry and seeking. Thick and engorged, his tip was already oozing with hot precum. Knowing she had little choice, Ashbel turned towards her bed. She hiked her short skirt over her bottom and rid herself of her underwear. Getting on her bed, she propped herself up on her hands and knees, keeping her bottom high in the air directly in front of him.
“I think you enjoy punishment. Look how aroused you are,” Kapono commented. Her insides were sparkling with her juices as they slowly dripped down her petals. When Kapono’s hands held her at the waist, she jumped slightly.
“Be easy,” he ordered, spanking her bottom. Placing his hand back at her hips, he held her in place as he nudged his thick tip between her petals. His size still dominated her but his hold on her hips assured that she wasn’t going anywhere. Without the care that he usually brought to her, Kapono eased himself inside of her without stopping. He filled her completely, pressing until he was resting deep within her stomach. Ashbel reached back, trying to press against his stomach but it was no use. Holding onto her hips the way he was, he controlled his powerful strokes that left a dent in her stomach each time he entered her. Ashbel’s thighs were trembling. Kapono felt her insides trembling just as well and pulled out of her, leaving her at the crux of her orgasm and not letting her finish.
“No. Please,” Ashbel begged. Her insides were clenching as if it could draw him back inside of her.
“I don’t hear you talking little flame. It’s like you’re forgetting this is a punishment and only enjoying yourself,” he commented.
“I apologize for my words. You are my husband. Because of that I have pledged to honor you, respect you, and to walk by your side. If at any time I should find discomfort in your words or your actions, I simply have to voice my concerns with ease because as your wife I should trust you will always have an open ear for me to speak into,” Ashbel breathed. She didn’t see the use in arguing or trying to fight back unlike the first time.
“See you have not completely forgotten your lesson,” Kapono grunted as he entered her again. Ashbel’s entire body was shaking as he studiously drilled inside of her. He reached forward and grabbed her arms; holding them in the crook of her elbows. He pulled them back, effectively arching her back deeply. Ashbel could feel her eyes roll as his thickened member continued to spear her open. He dominated her completely, leaving no choice but for her body and her heart to submit to him. Her orgasm poured down in waves, but despite that, he continued to hold her down. His strokes were continuous, breaching past her bundles her nerves and beyond. Ashbel never thought that those depths inside her could ever be touched. Yet, her husband’s broad shoulders leaned over her as he easily dove into those depths.
“Kapono please, no more,” Ashbel cried out, the pleasure becoming too much to handle. Her body wouldn’t quit shaking, and if he didn’t stop, she was liable to go up in flames right underneath him.
“Learned your lesson?” he asked her, spanking her bottom. Ashbel cried out at the intense heat resting on her ass from his slap. He did it again and again, spanking her butt raw. With hot fingers, he splashed around between her petals, caressing her engorged pleasure button. Ashbel’s body finally combusted, going up in flames from the intensity of her orgasm. She was so caught up in her own pleasure that she didn’t realize Kapono had reached his pivotal moment until the flames of his orgasm scalded her insides. Her body gulped up his release, drinking as if it had been starved and dehydrated. Feeling lightheaded, Ashbel fell forward, darkness consuming her as her pleasure still allowed for her body to be continuously engulfed in flames.
Humming softly, Ashbel snuggled into the softness of her bed. Kapono’s scent was intertwined within the confines of the bedroom, making her smile in her sleep. She reached over, trying to find the solace of his broad chest. The only thing that met her was emptiness. Ashbel’s eyes snapped open. She jumped up, looking around the dark room. She was alone. She was dressed in new clothing, her skin seemingly wiped clean from the sweat and ash from her flames. Ashbel scooted out of bed, hurrying to leave the room. Was it all a dream? Was Kapono ever really here? No. It was too real. Too real to just be a simple dream. Bursting out of her room, Ashbel found the Drakaina’s sitting around the table, having beers and drinks as they talked quietly.
“Where’s Kapono?!” Ashbel rushed out.
“Well, well, well, rise and shine,” Firya smiled at her. Ashbel just growled at her.
“Don’t growl at me little miss. I wasn’t the one who got punished so bad I passed out while my body was still in flames. That prince must be one hell of a man,” Firya winked. Even now, Ashbel could see feel the echo of Kapono’s hard body within hers. He was a hell of a man, for sure.
“Whatever Firya. Where did he go?” Ashbel asked.
“He left about an hour ago. He said he had to take care of something and that he would be right back,” Firya commented.
“He looked like he was in pain,” one of the women added. “He kept grabbing his head and wincing. His eyes were even glassy. For a long while after you were knocked out, he was trying to stay with you but he couldn’t stop pacing and then suddenly he declared he had to leave before he went crazy.” Ashbel immediately knew it was because of the sin raging inside of him. If he didn’t give into it, Kapono would be filled with intolerable pain.
“I’m going to look for him,” she declared.
“What?! Ashbel, did you forget that we’re in hiding?!” Firya exclaimed.
“I don’t give a damn what we are! My husband is finally back. I’m not losing him again. I’m going to find him right now.” Ashbel could care less for her own wellbeing. What good would her life be if she couldn’t spend it with Kapono? If anything, these years apart had taught her that life would be too hard without the man she loved. Arranged marriage or not, Kapono had given her his heart and she had given hers right back to him. The two of them were destined to be at each other’s side. Through hell and high waters, Ashbel was going to see to it that she always had her husband.
Without waiting to hear another word from the Drakaina’s, Ashbel hurried out of the bunker. In the warehouse entrance, she quickly shoved her feet in her sandal’s and tied the strings up her legs, securing them. Kapono’s scent had completely changed and Ashbe
l realized despite distance, that was the reason she could never scent the man she knew was alive. Now, with his new scent in her nose, he’d left a trail that Ashbel could follow. He was still in Emberdom, which meant he wasn’t too far from her.
“I’m coming Kapono,” she whispered. Ashbel began her jog back towards the center of Emberdom. With the mission of having Kapono back in her arms, nothing slowed Ashbel down. Running long distances did not bother her, especially because she was of dragon blood and in the prime of her health. Thinking of Kapono only made her thighs push further, keeping her running consistently. The night sky was still blanketing the earth in darkness but the signature heat of Emberdom still clung to the air. Ashbel’s body became slick with sweat by the time she had begun to see more and more houses clustered together towards the center of Emberdom.
As a typical night in Emberdom, the streets were not quiet and still. Families were gathered on their porches, enjoying the calmness of the night. Children were running around near the street, playing and experimenting with their own fire power. A young boy dashed out in front of Ashbel, nearly tripping her as she jogged. She scooped him out of the way before her weight trampled him.
“Hey! You’ve got to be careful now,” Ashbel scolded him. She set him on the ground and kneeled to look at him.
“Sorry ma’am! I was practicing!” He cupped his hands and showed her his electric blue fire. Ashbel smiled at him and plucked his small nose.
“You keep practicing. But be careful.” Ashbel smiled at him.
“Keon!” A woman rushed forward, the child’s mother. Her face was drawn with lines of worry until she saw her son was safe.
“Thank you,” she rushed out to Ashbel as she led her son away. After looking into Ashbel’s face, the woman gasped.
“You should get out of here! It’s not safe!” she whispered. Ashbel knew immediately the woman was giving her a warning because there was a bounty on Ashbel’s head.
“Thanks,” Ashbel whispered. She began jogging away, knowing she needed to keep moving. She dodged between the people still in the streets, sniffing hard to be able to continue smelling Kapono. With new scents being introduced she was slowly losing his trail. That made her push her legs harder so she could run faster.
Ashbel pushed by a dark figure who was standing in her way. That same person snarled at her. Ashbel’s head snapped back as he grabbed onto her hair.
“Gotcha! Orange hair means a bounty,” he growled. He snatched at her hair so roughly, Ashbel thought her neck would break. He dragged her backwards, leading her away from the main street. Ashbel fought in his hold, trying to pry his hands from around her hair. If he kept jerking her around, he was liable to break her damn neck. With her head pulled back, she decided to blow fire out of her mouth, directly into his darkened face to try and distract him enough to let her go. Her orange fire blinded him, but he still clutched onto her hair.
“My family has been starving for weeks. We can’t even afford a good meal thanks to this damn king and his taxes because he wants a lavish lifestyle. I’m sorry but I have to bring you in. I have two little boys I have to be able to feed them,” he explained desperately.
“This—this isn’t the way. I have a family too. Please let me go,” Ashbel begged.
“We all know you don’t have a family. Your psychotic husband made sure of that,” he growled.
“Now, just be quiet. Guard! I’ve captured one of them!” Ashbel began to panic. She knew that throughout town, guards were posted leisurely, always keeping surveillance in case any of the Drakaina’s popped up.
“Let me go,” Ashbel gritted, throwing blind punches in his direction. She shot flames from her fists, hitting him across the jaw. He snatched her head back roughly again.
“Ugh, I said be quiet!” His heavy hand came down hard on her face as if he was trying to knock her unconscious in one blow. Ashbel screamed in pain but she didn’t stop her fight even as he continued dragging her towards a royal guard. Closing her eyes, she forced her fire power up her entire body, allowing for her hair to burst into orange flames. He yelped and tore his hands away from her hair, saving himself from being burned. Glaring at her with eyes that could cut, he was sneering angrily. Snapping his fingers, his hand enveloped in flames. Ashbel began backing up. She could either run, or she could fight. There was no sense in fighting someone she knew could outpower her, but if she ran, she would have to be intensely evasive to get rid of him. Plus, a chase may call the attention of other royal guards.
Distracted by her own train of thought, Ashbel was nearly burned by a ball of flame being thrown at her. She screamed and ducked out of the way, knowing that her own fire power couldn’t diffuse the power of his fire. The thought of running off came too late as he lunged for her, his fist of fire ready to connect with her face. Ashbel cowered and covered her face, gearing for impact. The loud thud that echoed loud enough to scare away stray birds that flapped their wings harshly to get away. Ashbel has braced for impact, but after the loud thud, she’d felt nothing. Slowly, Ashbel peeked out from under her cover. Kapono was standing in front of her, his entire hand devouring the man’s flamed fist. Like a siphon, Kapono seemed to feed on the man’s fire without having to showcase his own fire.
“Did he hurt you little flame?” Kapono questioned. He turned to look at her and didn’t have to hear her response. Her face was red where he’d struck her, as if he was trying to render her unconscious. Before her eyes, Kapono’s brows dipped in anger. Lines of rage stormed him face. His eyes turned smokey as if he was losing himself completely in wrath.
Oh. Kill this bastard. Wrath ordered simply inside of Kapono’s head. Usually, Wrath was irate or forceful with his demands, but this was said so casually as if it wasn’t a big deal. Kapono smirked. Although Wrath seemed to have an issue with Ashbel, Kapono knew he was declaring this man’s death because of what he’d done to Ashbel.
“You hit her. So, I’m going to kill you,” Kapono stated. The man’s eyes widened. Sweat began rolling down his face. Ashbel jumped up quickly.
“No! Don’t!” she begged. Kapono looked at her.
“And why not?”
“He has a family! The king has made people turn into things they’re not because that’s the only way they can survive. Bringing me in with the amount of bounty that’s over my head will allow his family to not starve anymore. I can understand his desperation. I don’t want to be responsible for taking him away from his family,” she explained. Kapono was still clutching onto the man’s fist. He was so afraid he hadn’t even tried to escape Kapono’s grasp. Or maybe Kapono was squeezing his fist so tightly he knew that he couldn’t escape.
“Ashbel. His death is not my request. And you know I cannot refuse completely.” Ashbel immediately understood that it was Wrath giving Kapono the orders. Ashbel put her hand on Kapono’s shoulder. The pulsating urge to fulfill the man’s death started to fade away slightly at her touch.
“You in there. Back off. Right now.” Ashbel spoke firmly to Wrath. She wasn’t even sure the demon could understand her but she figured if it communicated with Kapono to talk about people’s actions, then it could very well understand what she was saying.
Kapono inhaled sharply. He stared at Ashbel. His brows that were once furrowed with anger now rising with disbelief. The pulsing pain that came with the need to give into Wrath dissipated completely. Kapono let the man’s fist go and there was still no pain.
Fine! But I’ll need my vengeance from somewhere else woman! Wrath growled. Kapono couldn’t believe it. In fact, he was beyond shocked. Even he had pleaded with the demon to release him from some of the vengeance that the demon wanted but he never gave in. He would give Kapono the benefit of time, but he never released Kapono from the urges. In a strange turn of events, Ashbel’s words had completely changed the demon’s mind.
“He said you owe him his wrath from somewhere else,” Kapono said, still in disbelief.
“And I’ll give it to him,” she insisted. She look
ed at the man who had tried to turn her in. He was still sweating with fear, as he watched Ashbel and Kapono.
“Get out of here, okay? Take care of your family,” Ashbel told him. Gulping, he looked at Kapono. Realization dawned in his eyes.
“You—you’re the prince,” he whispered.
“Tell no one you saw me,” Kapono ordered. The man nodded and backed away hastily before he was turning and running off. The royal guard that the man was calling to appeared from around the corner, his sword already drawn. Kapono yanked Ashbel’s arm tender and drew her onto his back. Ashbel gained five feet of height as she wrapped her legs around Kapono’s waist and her arms around his neck. She pressed her head into his broad back feeling completely safe. He was still dressed from head to toe and covered his face once more, but Ashbel didn’t need to see him to know he was her savior. She inhaled his new scent, loving the fact that his old scent still lingered deep beneath the surface.
“Ashbel Crimson! You’re under arrest!” the royal guard shouted, pointing his sword at Kapono. Wrath didn’t have to say anything. Kapono had his own anger welling inside of him to take care of the man pointing a sword towards his wife.
Kapono launched forward quickly and grabbed the wrist of the hand to which the guard was holding the sword. With a quick twist, he squeezed and broke the guard’s wrist. The sword clanked to the ground. While still holding onto the guard’s wrist, Kapono bent down and picked up the sword. Ashbel was so light on his back, she didn’t deter his movements. With the sword in hand, pressed the tip against the guard’s bare stomach.
