Hope's Chance Page 25

by Jennifer Foor

When we were finally done walking around with the guide, he offered that we could walk anywhere we wanted to. Hope and I thanked him for his time and started walking around the different buildings. Of course, this college offered so much more than the community college, it was a good school.

As we were walking through, we heard someone calling my name. I kept holding Hope’s hand, not really caring anymore who would see. The baseball director that knew Hope’s dad was approaching us. I still never let go of her hand. She looked up at me and I winked at her, letting her know that I just didn’t care. No matter what, we were going to be together.

“Mr. Avery, I forgot to give you this information booklet. It has all kinds of questions and answers and if you can’t find anything feel free to give me a call.” He said.

I grabbed the brochure and shook the guy’s hand. “Thanks!”

As he walked away, I looked at Hope and shrugged. We had finally toured every inch of the campus and climbed in Hope’s car with sore feet. The college was listed as twenty six hundred acres, but it seemed like we walked forty miles.

Hope decided to drive home while I looked through the information that we had gotten from the tours and the sports director. I was already familiar with a lot of the information. Most Universities have the same type of guidelines. One thing that caught my attention was that first year scholarships needed to live on campus, but after that they could live off campus. There was even a coed dorm available. I knew Hope and I couldn’t room together, but if we were in the same building it would be easier to spend time together.

Maybe I was getting overly excited. Just imagining being in college with Hope at my side was overwhelming. She may have overreacted before, but now she seemed just as interested as I did.

“Did you like it?” I asked.

“Kinda a lot to take in. How about you? Are you ready to sign on the dotted line?”

I grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it. “I won’t go anywhere without you. But yeah, I can see myself walking around campus with the hottest woman on the planet.”

Hope giggled. “I am not that hot Chance.”

“Um, then you must be looking through a dirty mirror. Yes you are baby.” I looked over at her driving. She had her hair up in one of those messy buns. She was wearing a small amount of eye makeup but not too much. Hope was so tan that she never needed to wear makeup. “In fact, just looking at you makes me horny.” I joked.

“Chance! I. Am. Trying. To. Drive.”

“What? It’s the truth. I mean, if you need to pull over so that I can show you, it is fine.” I said convincingly.

She shocked me. “Okay, where shall we pull over smartass?”

  “Seriously? That would be awesome.”

Hope took her eyes off the road and looked over at me. “I was kidding!”

“Damn.” I wasn’t convinced. I took my hand and slid it down the inside of her thigh. “Are you sure?”

I watched her bite down on her lip. “I don’t want to get caught.”

  “Chicken.” I teased.

I ran my hand up and down her thigh again, this time putting a bit more pressure. I leaned over and kissed her on the neck, and then the bottom of her chin. “Let’s just find an old abandoned road for a little while.” I suggested.

“Chance we are in the middle of nowhere. Are you kidding me right now?”

“No, I’m not. I want you so bad. It is difficult to be around you and not want you. I think you fed me a love potion because I never used to be this sappy.”

“Oh my Gosh, you are so stupid!”She laughed.

“I want you to kiss me until my lips hurt.” I kissed her neck again and nibbled on her ear. “If you aren’t going to pull over, than you should at least let me drive, that way you can straddle me.”

I saw her half smile forming. “Stop talking about it. I can’t concentrate on the road.”

“Sorry, I can’t help it. Your body is sending me subliminal messages. It’s saying...Chance…I want you so bad…take me Chance…oh yeah…I want it.” I started laughing after I said it.

“I don’t say that.” She argued.

“Yes you do.” I said as I ran my hand through her long hair.

  She started giggling again. “Whatever!”

I was smiling from ear to ear. I could tell she was having a good time with my humor. I would never have taken things too far and made her upset.

“So are we going to park or what?” I pushed.

We were on a country road and had passed several old country driveways that were clearly abandoned or possibly hunting property. “Turn into the next dirt road.”

She shook her head as she started turning into a little hidden driveway. “I can’t believe you are making me do this.”

I kissed her on her cheek slowly then reached my lips to her ear. “I am not making you do anything baby, well nothing you don’t want to do.” I teased.

Hope threw the car in park and within seconds, she was sitting on top of me in the car. Her hands were all over me and mine all over hers. We were in the middle of nowhere and didn’t have to hide our feelings from anyone.

I planned on taking full advantage of the situation.

  Chapter 46

  Hope

I can’t believe that Chance talked me into parking in the middle of nowhere for some afternoon delight, but he did, and I was loving every second of it. Once I put my car into park, I climbed right over and began groping my boyfriend. I was not sure how serious he was really being when he was telling me to pull over, but after a while, I just wanted to.

Chance had the strongest hands and he knew how to use them. We were trying to make due of the little space we had in the car, but it was not working out as good as we had anticipated. Even my backseat was small in comparison to Chances body. He stood darn near six foot tall and maneuvering both of our bodies was quite complicated.

“Let’s get out of the car.” Chance suggested when even the backseat wasn’t working. The funny thing was that we both had climbed in the back without getting out of the car. It would have been so much easier to have opened the car door and taken two steps then entering in the backseat.

“Okay.” I said in between kisses.

Chance opened the door without taking his hands off of me. He had reached behind and opened it. He guided our bodies out of the car and closed it by pushing my body back against the door. I stopped kissing him to looked around at the property. We were down a long driveway surrounded by huge trees. It was cloudy out, but it seemed so dark being beneath the trees. Chance didn’t waste any time when he picked me up and sat me on the flat part of my trunk. I wrapped my legs around his waist and pulled him into me with them. My hands slid up his chest and I could feel every muscle brushing over my palms.

His hands wrapped around my waste and slid up my back. I felt my bra loosen and with one swift tug, he had removed my top. Chance bit down on his lip and I watched as his hands pulled away my bra, exposing me to whatever was out there in the woods with us. At the heat of the moment, I did not even care. In my eyes, it was just us.

“Is there a blanket or something in the trunk?” Chance asked.

I ran my tongue against his neck and slid it up to his ear. “Yes.” I whispered.

Chance pulled away from me and started rushing toward the driver’s side of the car. As I grabbed a shirt to cover my naked chest, I couldn’t help but noticed the bulge protruding from his pants. “Hurry up.” I ordered.

“I am.” He stated as he got to the driver’s door. “Shit!”

“What is it?” I said as I jumped down from the car.

“It’s locked. Go around the other side and hit the unlock button.” He suggested.

I ran to the other side of the car and tried the passenger side door. “Oh crap.” Then I quickly tried the back door that we came out of. “Oh no, no, no! It’s locked too.”

“Fuck! I must have leaned you against it as we were getting out. Shit!” Chanced leaned
his head over the roof of the car.

“What are we going to do?” I asked.

“See if any of the windows are cracked.” He suggested.

We both looked on our sides. “Nothing!” Chance yelled.

“Same here.” I rubbed my face with my hands. “What are we going to do?”

Chance came over to my side of the car. He took me in his arms. “Right now we are going to pretend we aren’t locked out of the car.” He pressed his lips against mine and removed the shirt from my hands.

“Chance we shouldn’t.” I whispered as our lips pressed together.

His lips worked their way down my neck and then gently across one of my exposed breasts. My head fell back and I bit my lip. “We can’t” I moaned.

His hands reached for my waist and he pushed me gently against the car. “We can.” He said as he unbuttoned my pants.

“We shouldn’t.” I pleaded, but the sensations were too strong. I couldn’t fight the desire I had for Chance when he was touching me. I wanted him to continue.

The next time he pressed his lips on mine, I wiggled myself out of my pants. Just as fast as I had done that, I proceeded to unbutton his pants. Chance picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist as he leaned my butt up against the car. My arms went around his shoulders and he immediately entered me.

Being with him like this was so erotic. We were exposed in the woods. It was private, but not really. I pulled Chance’s shirt over his head.

We felt the raindrops hitting us, but did nothing until they became heavier. We should have stopped, but the more the rain hit Chances rock hard abs, the more I wanted him. He held me tight against him and even after we were finished, he pushed his body against mine and let the rain continue to fall down on us.

“Now what do we do? We are soaking wet and it is getting cold.” I said as we began looking around for our clothes. Putting them on was pointless considering they were all soaked, but we did it anyway. The rain continued to fall and even though we were up shits creek, I couldn’t help but admire how beautiful Chance looked soaking wet.

Chance looked around the woods. I had no idea what he was doing, but he seemed like he knew.

The rain was really coming down now. I hugged myself trying to keep warm. Chance came back to the car with a giant rock in his hand. “I promise I will pay to have this repaired Hope.” He said.

All I could do was nod. I just wanted to be warm.

  Chance

I hated having to break Hope’s window to get inside the car, but neither of us even had our phones. We were stuck in the woods in the middle of nowhere. It wasn’t like I could easily flag someone down to help us. It was starting to get dark and pretty cold, not to mention that the rain was not letting up.

When Hope saw me with the rock, she didn’t overreact. I chose the passenger rear window, because it was the smallest. When the rock hit the window, the tiny tempered glass pieces crumpled in and outside the car. I took my hand and reached in to unlock the door. Once it was open, I got Hope inside and ran to the driver’s side to get it turned on. When the heat came on, Hope looked relieved.

“I thought we were going to freeze to death.” She admitted.

I watched as she held her hands up to where the hot air was blowing from the vents. We were both soaking wet. Before I pulled out of the wet dirt road, I remembered she said she had a blanket in the trunk. I ran to the rear of the car and grabbed it out. When I got back in, I wrapped it around Hope to get her warm faster.

“Is that better?” I asked, while my teeth were still chattering.

“Much.” She gave me a quick smile while I made a makeshift cover for the broken window out of an old bumper sticker I found in her back window. I bit the sticker into small pieces so it acted as tape and used a piece of cardboard from an old taco box I found on the floor. Good thing Hope had a messy car.

“Okay, now let’s get you home.” I suggested.

  “Chance?”

  “Yeah baby?”

“I love you.” I looked toward her. She had a big smile on her face.

“I love you too baby. I would do anything for you.” I confessed.

After about a half hour of driving, Hope finally fell asleep. We only had another half hour to go, so I didn’t bother waking her.

Driving home in the silence gave me a lot of time to think about everything that happened. I enjoyed visiting the school and seeing what all of our possibilities could be, but I just didn’t feel as excited as I would have hoped. I lived my whole life thinking that all I wanted to do was play ball, but after everything that occurred last year, it made me realize that there are more important things in life to me.

I wanted more than just to play a sport forever. Finishing my education was important as well, but I was looking at a bigger picture now. I could do all of those things and have Hope by my side. I didn't need to separate the two. We needed to make the decision to move together. I wouldn’t do it without her, because I knew that once school was over, she was my future. I couldn’t risk giving that up for any reason.

It wasn’t that Hope would deliberately make me give something like that up. She wasn’t like that at all; in fact, she would have pushed me toward it, forsaking her own happiness for mine. It pissed me off when she put her needs last. I wanted her to be happy too. In all honesty, Hope was the kind of girl that didn’t need a lot of things to make her happy. She made do with what she had and was generally happy about it.

Whatever we were to decide, we needed to do it soon. With Christmas and the wedding, things were about to get hectic.

When I pulled into the driveway, I noticed that the living room light was on. Without waking Hope, I managed to reach into the passenger side and lift her into my arms. She wrapped her arms around me, but it was obvious she was still half-asleep. Mark met me at the door and held it open while I carried Hope upstairs to her room. I received some curious looks when they saw her disheveled hair and blanket. I knew as soon as I walked down the steps, I would be drilled by the sergeant himself.

Sure enough, I hit that last step and he was there waiting. “What happened to you two?”

“Hope thought she hit something so she pulled over. We both jumped out of the car, but one of us must have somehow hit the damn lock button. When we went to get back in, we were locked out. Our phones and everything were in the car. I had to break the window to get us inside.” I confessed, even though only half was the truth.

“I assume it was already raining?” He asked.

“Yep, it had just started. Anyway, Hope said she had a blanket in the trunk, so once I got her safely into the heat, I grabbed it and made sure she was warm enough.”

“Thank you Chance. You are always keeping her safe. I really appreciate it.” He gave me a pat on my shoulder. “So come in here and tell me how it went today. Did you see anything you liked?”

We walked into the kitchen and I started pouring myself some tea. “It was really nice. The fields are great there. Seems like they have a lot to offer.”

“What about Hope? Did she seem interested?” He asked.

I shrugged my shoulders. “Some things she really liked, but you know Hope. She hates school. I don’t know what she would decided honestly. Maybe giving her a goodnight sleep will help.”

“So, have you made up your mind?”

“I don’t know yet Mark. I mean, I haven’t played in a while. I don’t even know if I will still be good enough.” I admitted.

“I don’t mean to keep pushing you about it Chance. I just want Hope to want to get a degree in something. She just has no clue what she wants to do with her life. I feel like if she has you there, she won’t feel so reluctant about it. You are friends and you could be a mentor to her like you are here at home.”

If he only knew how I mentored his daughter.

“I will talk to her tomorrow about it.” I announced.

“Thanks for taking her today Chance. She never would have gone with me.” He admitt
ed.

  I laughed. “Probably not.”

I took my drink and headed out to the pool house. Wishing Hope was there with me sort of came true when I found her already in my bed.

“Hey, how did you get in here?” I asked as I crawled into the bed behind her.

“I went out the garage while you and dad were talking. I locked my bedroom door and he already thinks I am sleeping. I just wanted to be close to you.” She confessed.

I got up and threw on some dry clothes and then finally cuddled my body into hers. With one final kiss to the top of her head, I easily fell fast asleep knowing she was right where she belonged.

  Chapter47

  Hope

Waking up in Chances arms was something that I wanted to do every day, for the rest of my life. It didn’t matter where we were as long as it happened. His strong arms were wrapped tightly around me and I never felt safer.

Knowing I needed to get back inside of the main house before I was detected missing was getting easier. When I snuck out, I would wear my running clothes. Exiting Chance’s pool house from the rear was easy and I would return to the house, without my father knowing any different. Most of the time, he didn’t even notice me coming in.

I kissed Chance on his perfect nose. “Good morning.”

He kept his eyes closed but gave me a welcomed smile. “Morning baby.”

Chance nestled his face into my hair. I actually think he likes smelling it, since he did it often. I let him hold me close, because I was not ready to be let go.

“What are your plans today?” I asked.

“Well I would love to stay right here in this bed and hold you tight all day, but I guess that isn’t very feasible.” He admitted. “I need to run out and get this Christmas shopping done so that I am not out there with all the crazies.”

“Can I come with you? I have to get something for my mom, and I also wanted to pick out Dad and Buff’s wedding gift.”

I felt little kisses on top of my head. “Of course we can go together, after I get your window fixed of course. I almost forgot about that.” He was quiet for a second. “Do you want to get them something from the both of us?”
