Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to touch one of the ears. The moment I felt the rubberized skin, I jerked my hand away. I had my confirmation.
Of course I had to call Simon and Amanda and let them know. But first I had something important to do. A final commitment I had made to a friend.
So I went upstairs to my portable bar in the living room and poured out a shot of whisky.
What I was about to do wasn’t appropriate, not that I cared. While General Garber hadn’t deserved to die for a mistake he’d made during the heat of battle, he was still a sick son of a bitch and a rapist.
I raised the glass in a silent toast.Andy, you finally gave a damn.
I took a drink.
