  Keo smiled back at her before turning his full attention to Horse. The animal had already lost interest in their reunion and was grazing on a heavy patch of green on the ground.

  “Got a long road ahead of us, boy,” Keo said as he rubbed down the animal’s silky smooth mane. “I’m gonna need you to be fast. Faster than you were in Axton. Faster than you were in Cordine City. Really fast. Can you do that?”

  As if in response, Horse lifted his head and whinnied before going back to his lunch.

  “Gotta fly, boy, gotta fly like the wind,” Keo whispered. “Gotta get to Lara. Gotta get to Lara before it’s too late…”
