Because it wouldn’t be nice of me to just drop Cody off, I went up to the door with him. He opened it up and we went inside. “Hey Uncle Matt, we’re back?” he hollered out. I wasn’t moving as quickly as Cody was, but I was hanging in there.

Matt rounded the corner and smiled. “Hey! Did you have a nice afternoon?” he asked.

“It was great!” Cody said. “I got a bloody nose and Tasha fixed it right up.”

Matt shot me a look. “Is that right?”

I shrugged. “Might have had a few mishaps, but overall it went according to plan.”

He smiled and raised his eyebrows, then looked back at Cody. “Glad you had fun. Run upstairs and get washed up. Food will be ready shortly.”

“Bye Tasha!” Cody called out as he ran up the stairs.

“Bye buddy,” I said, letting my voice drift away. I glanced at Matt. “Did you have a good day at work?”

He nodded. “Yeah, it went well. Thanks.” He moved closer to me and to my surprise, lifted his hand up and brushed a strand of hair away from my cheek. “So, the kids didn’t give you too hard of a time today I hope.” He dropped his hand slowly.

  I shrugged. “I managed.”

He nodded. “I’m quite impressed. I thought the fiasco at the ice cream parlor would have scared you away.”

I frowned. “Fiasco?” He winked at me, and in that moment, I knew he had been watching me. “Were you spying on me this whole time?” I asked.

“Well, let’s just say that I didn’t want to keep you in the lion’s den, if I could help you out. But you patched up that one boy’s knee and took care of Cody like you were a regular Florence Nightingale.”

I shook my head and punched him in the shoulder. He pretended it hurt, but I saw otherwise as he laughed. “You could have helped me out there.”

“But you said that it would be amazing, and you could handle it. I just wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt and, honestly, I couldn’t have handled it any better. You did a good job.”

I blushed. “Thanks, but I’m exhausted.”

That caused both of us to laugh and, in that moment, we were just two people that were no longer boss and employee. I felt that he was someone that I could now call friend. “Yeah, sometimes I don’t even realize how I get through it raising Cody, but I always seem to manage.”

“You do a wonderful job. You really should know that,” I said causing another smile to spread across his handsome face.

“Thanks, Tasha.” He looked away from me and I saw something on this mind, but when he looked back in my direction it seemed to dissipate. “You wanna stay for dinner?” he asked.

Normally, I probably would have agreed, and I really wanted to agree, but I felt gross and just wanted to take a shower, so I could rest in my pajamas. “Thanks for offering, but maybe a raincheck?”

He smiled. “Of course.” He walked to the door and opened it up for me. I glanced at him and I saw such a genuinely nice look on his face that I nearly changed my mind, but I reluctantly said my goodbyes. “Goodbye Matt. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Goodbye for now, Tasha,” he said, and I walked out of the house, feeling his eyes directed on me.

A smile came to my lips. If every encounter with him could be that sweet, then I would never want to leave. I just didn’t want to get too attached, only to find it all gone in a blink of an eye.

  Chapter Eight

  Tasha

  The Sleepover

A week went by since I braved a day with four ten-year olds, and I was lounging around my apartment ready for a quiet day of watching TV, when I got the call. It was Matt and he repeatedly apologized, but he needed me on short notice to come over and stay with Cody. He explained that he had a company party to attend and asked me to spend the night since he would be home extremely late, if not the next morning. “I hope you don’t mind staying over. Last year when I attended this gala I didn’t get home until after three a.m. because of the long drive from Orlando to Miami.”

I looked at my TV that had Netflix queued up to play a full season of Scandal. “I don’t mind, Matt.” The truth was that I had looked forward to lazing around all evening, but seeing Matt every day and spending time with Cody had become my addiction, so this was a no-brainer for me.

“Great. Cody wouldn’t be comfortable with anyone other than you, if I end up using my comp room at the hotel in Orlando instead of driving back tonight,” Matt said, and I could sense the relief in his voice.

“No problem. I’ll be there within an hour,” I told him.

“Thank you, and I’m sorry to ask you on such short notice, but I’ve been swamped at work and I wasn’t planning to go. But, I just got word that Rihanna has been confirmed to be attending with Drake, and it will be a great networking opportunity.”

“Say no more, Mr. Wilde.” I had been calling him Matt. However, Mr. Wilde had seemed fitting during this conversation about his work trip. Plus, every now and then, I liked to remind myself that, though we were friendly toward one another, he was my boss and I was his employee.

“You’re a lifesaver, Tasha. You can expect a bonus on this week’s check. But there’s one thing…”

  “What’s that?”

“That’s the last time I want to hear you call me Mr. Wilde. It’s Matt from now on. You’re making me feel extremely old when you call me Mr. Wilde, and you’ve been here long enough. I feel we’ve been through a lot this past month and I want to let go of the formalities.” I could almost hear the smile on his face and he was right. In the past month, we’d been through a lot. Starting off with nearly burning his place down, to the incident with the bully, and to proving to him that I could handle the task of being with Cody and even a few of his friends.

“I’m sorry…Matt,” I said, and his name felt just as good rolling off my tongue then as it did when I imagined how it would sound to scream out his name in the middle of butt naked sex. “I didn’t mean to make you feel old, but I’m a few months shy of thirty myself. I know you’re not older than me.” If he was, he damn sure didn’t look it.

“I’m close to that number,” he said and laughed. “See you when you get here.”

When I got to the house, he offered me a guestroom to stay in. It was a lavish bedroom that also looked big enough to spread out my entire apartment, and it would certainly make me comfortable. However, while Matt was gone, Cody and I hung out in the den all night playing cards and board games until we were exhausted. I tucked him in bed and came back downstairs. I didn’t even make it to the guestroom and instead found myself crashed out on the couch.

Sometime during the night though, I got restless. After tossing and turning for hours on the uncomfortable couch, I got up and walked to the bathroom on the first floor. It was next door to Matt’s ground floor master bedroom. After I relieved my bladder, I washed my hands and came out of the bathroom. I had planned to go to the guestroom Matt offered to me. However, for an unexplainable reason I stood at his closed door, with the nagging desire to see how the room he slept in every night looked. I shouldn’t have even considered it, but temptation was begging me to peek inside. I hesitated, but only for a split second.

I gave in, turned the knob, and walked into the super large room where elegance just wrapped its arms around me once I walked in. My sock covered feet sank into the feather carpet as I walked over to his bed and stared at the huge mound of comfortable looking cream-colored fabrics.

I couldn’t control the urge. I sank into Matt’s comfortable bed, feeling him all around me. Within minutes of laying my head on the pillow, I was asleep. I immediately drifted off into a cloud of dreams. What a difference expensive cotton made for the sleeping experience. I floated through the soft cotton clouds for hours and what seemed like days, until I gasped. Matt had found me in the clouds and pulled me against his warm body. I smiled as we both started floating together. It felt so good snuggling against him, and I was going to enjoy every minute of it. So much so, I didn’t want to wake up
. Sweet baby Jesus, just let me take this feeling out of my dreams and with me forever, I prayed in my dream.

The moment our lips met, I arched my body against his and the shockwaves from his kiss traveled all through me. That dream had to be ranked up at the top of my best dreams ever, so good that it felt real. Too real. His tongue explored my mouth gently at first, then with an urgency that caused me to moan “Oh, God please don’t stop,” against his lips.

“I won’t stop, ever.” His breathless response caused my eyes to buck open. I was in the darkness of Matt’s bedroom with very real hands clasping my cheeks and kissing me passionately. I pushed him, and he fell back on the bed smiling.

  It wasn’t a dream. Shit, I wasn’t dreaming…

“What the hell are you doing, Matt?” I jumped away from him and immediately wanted to slap the smile off his face.

“What do you mean? I was following your lead, Tasha.”

“My lead? I thought I was dreaming what the hell are you doing in bed with me?” I asked, still in shock that I’d kissed my boss and loved every scrumptious morsel of it. This wasn’t supposed to happen…

“First off, you’re in my bed. Second, you kissed me.” Matt smiled brighter. He was enjoying my discomfort and he wouldn’t stop staring at my slightly swollen lips that still yearned for his to devour them.

I looked around the room. He was right. “I-I- am in your bed.” My face fell. How could I be so stupid as to fall asleep in there? “I’m so sorry. Am I fired, again? It’s been so nice working here, and I know that this might change things, but I didn’t mean for this to happen. I was sleep, then went to the bathroom, and ended up in here. Please don’t fire me.” The words rushed out as I stared blankly at him, still flabbergasted how my dream had come flooding back to reality.

“Tasha, calm down…” he said. His husky voice drooled with sex appeal. “Not on your life am I going to fire you. After that kiss, you are hired for a long-term position that I don’t see ending any time in the near future.”

I frowned slightly as his words echoed in my mind. I didn’t want to muddy our working relationship waters, so I didn’t put too much stock into what he’d said. “Matt, this isn’t right. I shouldn’t have gotten in your bed.” I looked away from him. I knew my face had to be a thousand shades of brown with even a hint of red. “I’m sorry that I did…um…this.” I looked at his bed and quickly scrambled out from under his covers. “Since you’re home now, I’ll just grab my bag and head home. Goodnight!” I started to make my escape, but he grabbed my hand.

“Don’t go!” he said, and those two words in his husky whisper made my knees buckle and I was unable to move any further away from him. I opened my mouth to tell him I didn’t want to leave him, but that it would be best that I go, when I heard my name being called frantically from upstairs.

“Tasha? TASHA!” I jerked back and turned to Matt’s door. Cody’s loud screams were enough to tear anyone’s attention from what they were doing, even if it involved the potential of being seduced by a tall, gorgeous, successful man that smelled a mixture of martinis and lightly sprayed Clive Christian cologne. I glanced once more at Matt, then without a word, I left his bedroom. I hurried up the steps to Cody’s room and heard his voice again. “Tasha…where are you?”

I hurried into his room. “What’s wrong buddy?” I asked.

He looked at me, fear stuck in his eyes. I went over to his bed and sat on the edge, pulling him towards me. “I had a bad dream,” he stated.

“I’m here now,” I whispered. I just held him, reciting soothing things softly to him to try to comfort him. As he was about to doze off, I heard his soft words.

  “I love you.”

My heart sang with those words. “I love you too, little buddy.” I kissed the top of his forehead and waited for him to fall into a deep sleep, before I slipped out from under his arms and quietly left his room.

I heaved a sigh when I made it into the hallway. Matt was standing close by the doorway, and his smile let me know that he had been looking in on us. We walked downstairs together, and I thought about Matt’s lips on mine, but I knew that moment was most likely lost forever. I could store it in the lost files with every other dream I’d had. I pretty much ridiculed him for kissing me, when my heart was still fluttering over that kiss.

When we reached the den, he took me by the hand and pulled me toward his room. I stopped at his door, which was still open, and fought the urge to peek my head inside, as he walked inside.

He turned toward me and tilted his head, quietly asking me to follow his lead. I swallowed the lump in my throat, and my better judgement told me I should’ve stayed out in the hallway. I followed none of the voices speaking to me. I stepped forward and peered into his bedroom. My mouth hung open when I got a side profile of him standing in just a pair of Budweiser lounge pants that he must’ve changed into when I went up to check on Cody. The cuts of his hard muscles glowed marvelously with the moonlight shinning into the room.

“Tasha,” he called out to me.

  “Uh…yeah…” I stuttered.

“You are great with Cody. Thank you.”

“No problem. He just had a bad dream.”

He nodded and moved closer to me. “Not all dreams can be good ones.” He winked, and I knew he was referencing my earlier admission of how I thought kissing him was a dream. Then, he surprised me by caressing my cheek with his hand. The heat from his hand caused me to instinctively close my eyes and relish his touch.

  “Matt…” I whispered. “I should go.”

“Why are you still thinking?” was his simple response, before he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into a kiss.

I went with it. I didn’t think. I slipped my hand up and massaged the nape of his neck, and his tongue slipped between my opened lips.

“I need this,” he softly stated in response and that’s really all it took for me to give in to the need that also lived deeply within me. I hadn’t slept with a man in over a year, and there Matt was, standing in front of me, sexy as hell, with the same longing for affection—even if his longing for me was temporary. I stepped fully into his room and he closed the door behind us.

As we walked to his bed, he slowly lifted my shirt up and over my head, tossing it to the floor. My bra was still on, so he unlatched the clasp and I slipped out of it. It felt so good to have my breasts brush up against his naked chest.

When we reached his bed, he sat down on the edge and our lips parted. He looked up at me with hunger in those brown eyes as he slowly started to undo my jeans. He held a smirk on his lips and I couldn’t stop staring at those sexy lips. As I kicked out of my jeans, he grabbed onto my panties and pulled them down. I then leaned into him and kissed him, pressing him down to the bed. With our bodies intertwined, he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him as he scooted back on the bed, so we were now flesh with the mattress.

I gripped onto his lounge pants and pulled them down, wiggling them down his legs, until they were gone. His large hand cupped the back of my head and we stayed in that position for several minutes, writhing flesh to flesh, getting acquainted with the feel of becoming one. I could feel his cock riding alongside my leg as we melted together. It felt so wrong, yet so right.

“Tasha, I don’t have any condoms,” he said, between heated kisses that alternated between my lips to my shoulder. I spread my legs and his cock rested against my opening.

  “I don’t either.”

  “Are you on the pill?”

I nodded ‘yes’, and lowered my lips to his chest and started trailing kisses down his chest. I could feel his engorged head touching my flesh, longing for more, craving it, and I couldn’t deprive us of his meeting that felt so natural. I wandered my lips back up his chest, until I sucked in his bottom lip for a kiss. I devoured his sugary sweet kisses, then positioned myself so that I was directly over his erection. I slid my tongue along his, crashing wildly against him as I reached down and grabbed onto his coc
k. I glided him into me, then slipped my hand back up to his arm, sinking down, and fully taking him in.

“God Tasha!” he moaned, thrusting deeper into me. I shifted my body and just relaxed, keeping him buried inside of me as I glided on top of him. His mouth trailed fiery kisses around my lips as we kept the momentum going. My pussy was tingling with a pressure that had been building up inside of me. I could feel the tightness in my stomach muscles clenching as every plunge caused me to whimper and my insides to heat to a burning blaze.

My breathing increased every time we crashed against one another, tossing and turning in his large oversized bed. My hands latched onto him as I dragged my nails down his back. I lifted myself up and broke from the kiss. My body smoothly rode him as I tossed my head back and just focused on the feel of his hands all over me. I looked down at him. His eyes were wide open, gaping at me with his smile curved up in this sensual way. I lifted myself up and lowered myself, letting his dick plunge into me as I let out a scream that was sure to wake Cody. I bit my lower lip and he laughed, wrapping his arm around my back and lowering me back down to him, so that he could smother my moans with fiery kisses that were equally moan-worthy.

My pussy contracted, drawing him in as he expanded inside of me. He was so tense that I knew he wouldn’t be able to contain his need to empty his seed into me, so I grabbed onto his shoulders and made my thrusts even stronger, harder, and fiercer.

“Yes, babe! That a girl,” he growled. My body shook on top of him and I gasped, and I was forced to part from the kiss and just sling my hips harder against him.

“Ahhhhh…” I cried, my spasms shaking the bed until my orgasm wouldn’t slow down.

With one final plunge, he burst through my core and we came together. I fell on top of him, breathing heavily and letting my lips fall to his shoulder. I kissed him softly, too tired to do much of anything else. I then started laughing, which was an obvious surprise to us both. I fell off of him and couldn’t control the giggles.
