Steal Your Soul Away Page 6

He shook his head. “My flat’s a five-minute walk from here.”

  “That’s convenient,” Roxy murmured.

Again he wondered whether there was a hint of extra meaning in her words.

She stepped closer, and pressed her lips to his cheek in a brief kiss. “Well, safe journey home and I’ll see you next week. It’s going to be fun working with you, Laurie.”

“Er, yeah… Goodnight, Roxy.” He turned and walked away without looking back, his skin seeming to burn from her touch. Damn her. Why was she making it so impossible for him to hate her?

The sex therapist was still on his mind as he let himself into his flat in a quiet mews that ran parallel to Marylebone High Street. He’d seen her expression when he’d admitted to living in this highly desirable—and eye-wateringly expensive—area. When he’d started working at London Sound, he’d never dreamed he’d be able to afford to own a property here, but then he’d landed a couple of plum voiceover jobs—one for a major chain of supermarkets, the other for an online travel booking firm. The income from those adverts had enabled him to put down the deposit on this place.

His usual post-show routine involved pouring himself a glass of merlot and playing video games on his Xbox, but while he’d been looking forward to cracking the next level of Dark Souls, the idea no longer appealed. He stripped down to his boxer shorts and wandered through to the bathroom. Having turned the shower to its most powerful setting, he pulled off his underwear and stepped under the spray. Hot water pounded against his skin, soothing the tension in his shoulder muscles, and he reached for the mandarin-scented shower gel. Laurie lathered up his body, hoping to put all thoughts of Roxy Rose at bay.

He should have known that would prove impossible. Try as he might, he couldn’t stop himself imagining it was her touch on his skin, her fingers working in slow, steady circles as they rubbed the foaming gel over every inch of him. Almost without being aware of it, Laurie took hold of his cock and tugged at it. In his fantasy, Roxy stood behind him, her wet, slippery body pressed tight to his, her breasts squashed against his back. She would reach round to play with his dick, one hand stroking up and down its length, the other cradling his heavy balls. All the while, she would keep up a steady stream of filthy patter, telling him in that sexy Southern drawl of hers how big and hard he was and how she couldn’t wait to have him buried deep in her wet pussy. God, he could probably come just from the sound of her voice alone…

Too keyed up to even think about holding back, Laurie groaned and shot his load, watching his cum arc out to mingle with the foamy bubbles on the floor of the shower cubicle. Breathing hard, he leaned back against the cool sepia tiles. He didn’t think he’d come that hard or fast since he’d been a horny teenager, and now his passion had been driven to fever pitch by thoughts of the dirty-talking Roxy Rose.

What had just happened was pure fantasy, he reminded himself. She might have a gorgeous body and a voice that could give a eunuch an erection, but he couldn’t dream of getting involved with her. He had to keep their relationship on a strictly professional footing for the sake of his job, as hard as that might be. And if that meant keeping her at a distance when she so obviously wanted to be friendly, just as he’d done tonight, then that’s what he’d do.
