“You should’ve been a cheerleader.” Clay wrapped an arm around her waist.
“No. Guys like you expected them to put out. I like you better now.”
“Me, too. He puts out for all of us,” Dean chuckled.
Clay punched Dean’s arm playfully, and she smiled to herself. Three men felt so natural that now just dating one would feel odd. Each man brought something special to her life. Steve was the practical leader, Clay the wild fearless one and Dean the caring balance. She still had her job and her family despite some interesting conversations.
Her boss had mentioned her boyfriends in passing and didn’t want her to do any events that were geared toward her new lifestyle. Other than that, the subject hadn’t come up. Mom and her church friends were a different story.
The older women clucked about three times the laundry, cooking, cleaning and sports. Moira had actually helped by commenting that the men were helpful to Kacy with all the chores. The church ladies were the worst of it, but Kacy’s mom had finally shushed everyone with a good “judge not….lest ye be judged” one-liner. It’d worked on the family grumps, too.
Kacy had to agree, she had a lot of men to look after, but they looked after her, as well. Dean and Clay both had an arm behind her, and she felt their fingers lace and slide down to rest on the seat along her backside. She didn’t get all the housework or the sex work. Sharing and understanding were the best parts. If Steve didn’t get a concern or issue, Clay or Dean would. They all tried.
“You’re planning something. The homecoming parade is over. It was great.” Clay kissed her cheek.
“Thanks. How do you know I’ve got a plan?” She had some ideas for what she wanted tonight.
“Your forehead and nose gets that crinkle thing.” Dean smiled.
She reached up and touched her forehead. “I don’t crinkle.”
“We’d still love you even if you did.” Clay pinched her ass.
She smacked his arm but giggled. They’d gotten over any pretense of acting as if they were just friends. “I moisturize,” she said.
“Okay. I did say crinkle, not wrinkle.” Dean bumped her hip with his.
“Watch the game.” She folded her arms and tried not to think about aging. She’d hit thirty, but finally found her guys. If she wanted a family, she certainly had enough help. They hadn’t discussed that just yet, but she didn’t want to wait too long.
The opposition fumbled the ball and Lucky Springs recovered. The game was all but over at that point. They ran out the clock and homecoming triumph surged through the small town crowd. Steve made his boys line up and shake hands with the opposition at every game. Teamwork and respect were as important as winning.
As the stands cleared out, Lucky Springs fans mingled and chatted. Pam and her sister waved to Kacy from a quarter of the field down. She waved back, and her phone beeped. Checking the text, she said, “They’re inviting the group to an after party,” she said.
“Sex or regular?” Clay asked and kissed her neck.
“Stop it.” She leaned on him and texted a thanks but no thanks reply. “It doesn’t matter. I want to be alone with my guys tonight.”
“I’ve got nothing else planned. Let’s head to the car then,” Dean said.
“Good. A quiet weekend at home would be perfect. Next weekend is my mother’s birthday party, so you’ll all have to be there and help me.” It was her first toe-dipping into party planning. She’d done all the family events, but this was her thinking of it as a business.
Kacy’s family had adapted well enough to her relationship. Her mom loved the added attention and found having three men around was handy if she needed something moved.
Things weren’t as easy with all of the guys’ families. Steve’s had been very welcoming with so many sisters. Dean’s was cautiously nice with a couple rude members. Clay’s family had a lot of tension with things now. Still, the quad was fully committed to the group.
Somehow, attending the sex parties had turned into a liberating way to prove that and connect with the other groups in town at the same time. She’d felt alone before, and now she felt as if she had lots of families and support in every direction. The wildest part was, despite her doubts as a teenager, she’d found three men who loved her in the small town they all called home.
