“You are not sedate,” he replied. “But I thought a woman like that would keep it from happening to me. Only Amanda and I didn’t hit it off. Instead, I picked a tiger.”
Joy rose onto her palms and growled.
Laughing, Heath patted the top of her head. “Good girl. Sheath the claws.”
Her smile returned. “I should buy something cougar print. You are a real sucker for the lingerie.”
He lifted a hand to her cheek. “I’m a sucker for you, have been since you jumped me at your sister’s bachelorette party.”
“You were hot, or you must’ve been, since I don’t remember it … but having experienced Heath Olson, I know it’s true. I like that kinky thing you did with your tongue in my belly button.”
“Oh yeah?” He grinned. “I’ll remember that.” Emotion crowded his throat, and he sobered. “All those things you write about love and destiny, I’ve never applied them to me, but right here, right now, I feel like the best man on the planet and whatever I have to do to hang onto this, whatever craziness you drag me into … I’m so grateful.”
“Grateful?”
He nodded. “I’m a better person with you near me.”
She gazed downward, silent, then climbed into his lap. With the wiggle of her bottom, he was erect in an instant. Her gaze wide, unapologetic, she tightened her thighs against him. “I’m not stopping,” she said.
“So don’t,” he replied.
