by Stephen Fry

André and I took the idea of the series to Richard Klein and Peter Fincham at the BBC and they were both passionate in their support–all from a refreshingly and benevolently hands-off distance.

My producing partner at Sprout, Gina Carter, deserves my profound thanks as always, and I am eternally grateful to Katy Carrington and her team at HarperCollins for their professionalism and creative flair in the face of a very short lead time and an author who seemed so often to be doing everything except sitting down and writing.

As ever gratitude and indebtedness beyond computation to my beloved and loyal personal assister, Jo Crocker.
