There was a frikkin’ bear on a rampage, coming at her like that big fat meteor came at the dinosaurs.
Big, with chocolate brown fur, the bear was running straight for her, his tongue wagging out of his mouth like some sort of demented bear. The bear roared at her, and she lost her balance, tripping and falling in the snow. She scrambled to get up while facing the bear…but the bear just sat his fat ass down in the snow and looked up at her.
“What the…?” started Gretel.
“Wait!” called a voice. Gretel looked past the bear. A man was running up to her.
“Where the heck were you two minutes ago?” shouted Gretel, putting a hand to her hip.
The man had broad shoulders, big, strapping arms, a barrel chest, and a mop of light brown hair and a scruffy beard. He was handsome, just Gretel’s type—the kind of man that could handle her curves with ease. He had dark brown eyes and was wearing a flannel shirt and jeans. The man finished running up to Gretel and the frikkin’ bear.
Gretel looked down. The bear was still there, just looking up at her.
“This yours?” asked Gretel, pointing at the bear.
“I mean, don’t they say bear is a man’s best friend?” jested the man.
