  Blurb:

  Frank

She was my best friend’s sister. Nothing could ever happen between us…

I didn’t mean anything by it. I was only kidding.

I can’t risk losing them. They are like family.

The world isn’t black and white. These feelings are wrong. I thought I could control them.

It’s her birthday. I want her to blow out more than candles.

I have to indulge. I want to find a way for us to be together. Las Vegas is calling.

A little drinking with a little flirting with other women will help. Why can’t I stop thinking about her?

She is forever etched on my lips. One kiss and I know I will fall head over heels.

  Leila

I’ve had a crush on him for years. It was puppy love. I knew that he couldn’t be trusted.

Telling him about my boyfriends makes him angry.

  He doesn’t think I notice. I do.

Having fun and pushing his buttons helps to get him out of my system.

Spoiled is my middle name. I get whatever I want. Guys are powerless to refuse.

Las Vegas sounds like fun. Gambling and drinking never hurt anyone.

My brother wasn’t going to be around. I could be wild and untamed.

I have needs. I’ve seen him with other women. How can I trust my heart to him?

  Chapter 1

  Frank

I was sitting in the leather chair daydreaming watching the clouds with Edward typing like mad in his office at home. I was there at his request to go over some numbers. He wanted to make sure we were on the same page. It felt comfortable, unlike the office where we felt under the gun to get things done.

Those offices were used to impress potential clients. You had to spend money to make money. Hedge funds and investment strategies were what we were good at and we made clients a lot of money.

He did find time for what mattered, but money would always be the carrot we were after. Working together was a pleasure. He was the brother I never had.

Leila stepped into my line of sight and sat there on the edge of Edward’s desk looking innocent. He was my best friend and partner in business. She was his sister and he was always doting on her. There was nothing she couldn’t ask for and couldn’t get.

The girl I knew growing up had turned into a remarkable young woman.

She’s not like the other girls and there’s something about her. Being around her makes me feel like a better man. The way that she dresses and acts makes me see the silver spoon in her mouth. She has Edward wrapped around her little finger.

  *****

Leila is standing there innocently at 20-years-old with her little finger in her mouth sucking on the tip. I can almost read her thoughts and they make me yearn for something I can’t have. She is wearing this black leather skirt and a short over the head halter that doesn’t cover her belly button.

I’m watching her out of the corner of my eye in Edward’s home office where he is preoccupied with business to notice how she shamelessly flirts with me.

It’s dangerous to do this under his nose, but she thrives on the possibility of getting caught. I’ve tried to dissuade her, but she persists. I can’t tell her the real reason it bothers me. She’s having a bit of fun at my expense.

She’s purposely angling her body to let me see brief hints of her delectable cleavage. She was more than a mouthful. Her slight statue of 5’3 and 120 lbs has me thinking about her legs wrapped around my waist. Her full lips with the purple lipstick draw me to her like a moth to a flame. Her hair lazily falls below her shoulders touching the nape of her long and sensuous neck. Her eyes are emerald with mischief playing in the stare she shares with me on a constant basis.

This is what we do to one another for a cheap laugh. Her right foot is dangling in the air with her heel barely hanging from her delicate toes.

It was early in the morning around 9 am and I was still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.

“I still can’t grasp the concept of you getting married. It’s hard for me to think about one woman chained to my ankle for the rest of my life,” I said with him glancing up from the computer to address this issue.

“I don’t know what to tell you. Things like this don’t usually happen to me. She’s everything that I have been looking for and more. I guess you never know when you’re going to find true love.” Edward was showing me photographs of his latest vacation with Grace in wedded bliss.

Finally, the weekend was here. I needed the rest and had been working my fingers to the bone while he was on vacation for the past month with Grace. They came back last week and we were playing catch up with no rest for the weary.

This weekend it was my party time. Edward owned a beautiful house here in Texas and his house used to be party central. That changed with his relationship with Grace. It was no longer the place for one-night stands as Edward had married the love of his life. Grace was that Angelic beauty with natural curves. I thought their marriage was quick. I had a standing bet with Edward’s sister Leila it wasn’t going to last 2 days.

I had lost and she had yet to collect. I couldn’t deny how Edward had changed with Grace by his side.

We were best friends since childhood. We had great times together from studying, doing business, and partying in whatever city we travelled to.

Our families shared a great partnership in business and personally. Edward and I never needed anyone else tagging along. We knew each other better than anyone.

We used to have the same goal to sleep with a variety of woman with n
o designs on putting a ring on it. Edward met Grace on one of those trips where we mixed business with pleasure.

Grace was with him for 12 hours and nothing more happened than a kiss. She did steal his money from his wallet that same trip, but he didn’t chase after her. He behaved like a love-sick teenager walking around in a daze. She had completely changed him. They met by complete chance not long after that exchange. Things escalated quickly from there.

I was determined to live for the moment never committing to one woman for the rest of my life. I loved fucking different girls and had several on speed dial in every port.

They had a bundle in the oven about to pop in less than 6 months.

They met quite by accident when Grace came with a past love of mine looking like she wanted to be anywhere else. It was all about the money and both I and Edward had no problem throwing our cash around for the right girl with all the tools to make us happy.

I never thought Grace was his type, but cupid’s arrow was funny like that. There was no rhyme or reason. On paper, it shouldn’t have worked, but they managed to dispel my disbelief. I thought we were going to incurable bachelors flitting from one beautiful flower to another.

Grace was nothing more than this shy girl and Edward was the dictionary meaning of the bad boy. His charm and good looks had most girls eating out of his hand. He had to work to convey to Grace that he could be something more. It was a long road, but his patience and trust taught her to give him a fighting chance. It was silly and I thought it would never last, but they proved everybody wrong.

I could see how happy they were.

It was almost sickening to see how far he had fallen from his playboy days of trapping innocent young women in his lair of depravity. The only thing that I could do was be there for him and to show him the support that he had always given me.

His personal life was his business and I wasn’t going to tell him that he was wasting his time by committing to one woman. It would only get me a stern look of disapproval.

“I’ve never seen you this happy unless you have been drinking and are surrounded by a bevy of beauties,” I stated with a mixture of sincerity and sarcastic wit mixed in for good measure.

“You don’t have to tell me how you feel about this. I don’t need your input when it comes to my personal life. Frank, no offense, but I would never take advice from you about women. You barely remember their names and have to carry around that book to remind you of which one you are going to find in every port,” He remarked with a trace of sarcastic wit in his tone.

Our business was booming and we had clients coming out of the woodwork. Word of mouth had spread quickly and our firm was the place to go to invest wisely. We had taken everything that we had learned from our fathers and what lessons they had given to us when we were sitting on their knees. We were going to make something of a legacy without relying on their name.

The one thing we were very good at was investment strategies. I knew how to mingle to garner interest and he had the numbers to back it up. It was fun globetrotting around the world with my best friend sharing the spoils after a lucrative contract was signed on the dotted line.

  Those days were long gone.

“It’s not nice to throw stones at glass houses. Go easy on Frank. You were exactly like him and you’ve never had any plans on settling down with one woman. Frank loves them and leaves them wanting more. If he had a pair of breasts and crimson lips with a hot little body everybody would be calling him a slut,” Leila said from where she was sitting on his desk with the morning sun behind her coming through the window.

That naughty word coming out of her innocent mouth made me realize that she wasn’t the little girl I remembered her as.

“You’re one to talk. I’ve seen the kind of guys you have been dating lately. They are only after one thing and I’ve heard the rumours of how they have to work to get it. Teasing will only take you so far and then you will have to show your appreciation or cut them loose,” I warned with the underlying meaning that most guys would say and do anything to get their hands into a woman’s panties.

I wanted her to tremble to my touch.

“If I were to close my eyes, I wouldn’t be able to tell the two of you apart in a crowded room. Neither one of you is willing to look past your next conquest. If this kind of happiness can happen for me then it can happen for the both of you when you least expect it,” Edward said snapping his fingers from where he was sitting in his office going over last-minute details of a business trip in a couple of days.

Edward had changed including the way that he dressed and his hairstyle. He was still put together, but he was more in trend with the times. It was obvious what kind of effect Grace was having on him a little more each day.

“It’s not fair to judge us. I’m surprised that you would fall into the same trap as everybody else,” I rasped alluding to the fact that we were two peas in a pod.

“I’m not sure what you’re getting at.”

“We’ve seen it before in other friends who have gone down the same road that you are going. They see the error of their ways through the woman’s eyes that have captured their heart and they want everybody around them to be as happy as they are,” I chortled finding a reason to mock him in a playful banter.

The only thing separating us from coming to blows was his sister Leila playing mediator by stepping in between us.

She had her hand on my chest and I could feel her fingers burning a hole through the thin fabric of my expensive white Italian woven shirt. It was nothing but the best.

“If you are suggesting that I’m whipped then I can assure you that my relationship with Grace isn’t like that. We have learned from each other and if you can’t understand that then that’s your problem. The same thing goes with my sister.” He was up and put his hands on the desk glaring at me trying to back me down with intimidation.

“Don’t put me in the middle of this. The only thing I’ve ever wanted for the two of you is for the both of you to be happy. I’m not fond of the idea that you have replaced me. Don’t look at me like that. We both know what I’m talking about. You’re never around anymore and I miss having my brother to join me on my shopping sprees,” She hinted with her baby blues batting her eyelashes in a blatant attempt to reach into her brother’s pocket.

“The only thing you want from me is my credit card. Take it and take Frank with you. I have a lot of work to do to prepare myself for my trip to Hawaii. I’m going to mix business with pleasure. I can handle this on my own.” He ushered us out of the office and closed the door in our face.

Leila was happy and I could see her eyes lighting up with dollar signs. She was spoiled and her family gave her everything she wanted. I didn’t prescribe to the same thing even though I had more than enough money to spend frivolously on her.

“I guess you have my undivided attention for the next couple of hours,” I said knowing that I was able to weasel my way out of it but didn’t want to.

I enjoyed my time spent with Leila in any capacity. I missed her when she wasn’t around and I thought of her often. The only time I wasn’t thinking about her was when I was with another woman concentrating on the pleasure that our bodies could give one another.

I could never say the right things at exactly the right time. I’d resorted to the tried and true methods of teasing her relentlessly. The way that she dressed was provocative and I pretended to be her surrogate father with amusing results.

“I have no problem with you hanging with me for the rest of the day. I just don’t want you to get bored of me playing Pretty Woman. You know how I lose track of time when I’m surrounded by pretty things,” She said touching the necklace that my friend and her brother had bought her on his latest adventure.

It was a flawless string of pearls and the oysters they came from cried when they were taken away. Leila had no problem flaunting her wealth. She never worried that somebody would take offense and people had killed for less. I was always quite an
xious when I was out with her wondering if I was going to have to defend her honor.

“I always find it quite interesting to see you in your element. Shopping has always been your guilty pleasure. The look I see in your eyes when you see those price tags knowing that there is no expense spared is priceless. Besides, your brother is driving me crazy with all this talk about true love and star-crossed lovers,” I mocked with a teasing gesture, but deep down I was jealous of his good fortune.

Grace was an untouched piece of art. I could see the fascination in her eyes every time that she was introduced to something of an extravagance. Living vicariously was easy when we had her around as a role model.

Edward stood at over 6 feet and we were practically brothers from another mother and father. I was happy to have him around to be my wingman. I missed having him there to spot me in the gym and at the bar. He was off the market playing fast and loose with the woman that he cared for more than he did breathing.

I was momentarily distracted by the way that Leila was bending down to adjust her heels. I couldn’t believe that she was doing anything untoward on purpose to get my attention. My eyes widened at the prospect that she wasn’t wearing panties. The lower half of her ass cheeks were exposed for a split second.

I grabbed my briefcase from the floor, holding the black leather against my midsection to prevent her from seeing what she was doing to me.

“The door isn’t going to open itself.” She gestured with her head cocked to the side like she was expecting me to be her own personal valet.

“Where are my manners? I should know better than to stand in your way. God forbid that you would have to open up your own doors. It would be truly sacrilege and against the way that you have been raised to be a spoiled brat,” I said with her standing there impatiently tapping her foot.
