“Undress.” Rae gasped frightened. “Now.” With shaking frightened hands she pulled the hem of her sweater up over her head. He was naked now and standing before her. “What happens now?” She asked quietly studying the hem of the sheet. Dakota reached over and caught her chin with his fingertips.
“What would you like to happen?” He watched her eyes. “Would you like breakfast?” She chewed on her lip thinking about it. “Would you like to make love again?” Rae blushed from the roots of her hair to her toes. Rae heard a growl low in his throat. “Hmm, what to do?” His lips brushed her temple lightly. “I think I will give you some time to consider it but while you’re doing that, I’ll find something else to do, okay?” She nodded, that would work, and she needed time to think about all this weirdness anyway. Twenty minutes, okay?” Rae smiled. She watched the muscles of his back flex and bunch as he retrieved his tee shirt and pulled it over his head as he walked out of the room. Rae let out a breath that she didn’t realize she’d been holding.

She showered and dressed quickly, putting on jeans and a tee shirt of her own. Letting her fiery curls cascade down her back, she put on lip gloss and mascara then surveyed herself. “So this is what you look like the morning after amazing sex? “But I can’t hear your every thought, that’s not fair.” She looked up at him from under her lashes. Rae forked some scrambled eggs into her mouth.
“Sure you can, you just don’t know it yet. I haven’t let you hear every thought Rae, there’s no sense in scaring the shit out of you. I’ve been around awhile and I am well practiced in letting you hear me or not. I know that you haven’t experienced anything wolf in your life, you’ve barely experienced your human life. You have plenty of time to understand and develop your skills.” He cut his steak and sunny side up eggs then put hot sauce on the eggs. Rae watched wondering what that tasted like. Dakota stabbed a piece of meat and offered it to her. She plucked it from the fork with her fingertips and popped it into her mouth. He gave her a disapproving glance. “My mouth has been all over you Rae, are you afraid of my germs?” He murmured.
“No.” She bit her lip. “I..um..” Dakota shook his head. He stabbed another piece and held it in front of her mouth. She leaned forward now and took it from his fork with her mouth. His lips curled up satisfied and he went back to his breakfast. Rae finished her eggs, toast and one more bite of his steak. She carried the dishes to the sink to wash them. He followed and stood behind her. His arms wrapped around her middle and he kissed her neck. Rae leaned back against him and let the warmth envelop her.
“I’m going up to your father’s, okay?” She nodded. He kissed her once more and left. Rae let out a long breath.
“Intense.” She murmured. Rae went back to the bedroom and straightened the bed and found a sweater to pull on over her tee shirt. She found her purse and went out into the fall air to her car. She put it in gear and drove to work. Her commute was much shorter now and she arrived in no time.
Parking in front of the store in the small strip mall, Rae hurried inside. She went up the stairs to the office and sat down at her desk. “Hey Rae!” Rhonda called as she came in with two cups of coffee. “Here,” she offered Rae a coffee. “How did you find me?” Rae asked so Rhonda couldn’t hear.
“I told you, every word, every emotion, every feeling. You seemed a little overwhelmed when you left. You didn’t tell me that you were leaving.”
“You can hear my every thought. I don’t need to tell you.” She spun to look at him accusingly. He exhaled.
“True. I knew that you left but I didn’t know to where just to work. I followed your scent here.” His brows lifted and he smiled.
“Oh! That’s too much. Yes, I am overwhelmed.” She hissed. “This is way too intense and too weird Dakota.”
“How so darling? We’re mates, this is how it is.” He was still leaning over her, his hands on the arms of the chair at her sides and talking quietly in her ear.
