Whispered Truths (God's Reapers MC Book 2) Page 4

by Parker, Kara

From the office, there were two doors. One was open and led to the darkened storefront. The other was closed and on the left side of the office. Carefully, David opened that door, revealing a set of metal stairs. Olivia propped open the door with a small rock, and together they silently made their way inside.

They tiptoed down the darkened stairs, hearing the voices and noises from people below them until they found themselves on a landing that overlooked a surprisingly huge basement. It was brightly lit and filled with long tables, and David could see workers opening the boxes marked, “cat treats” and pulling out bags and bags of white powder. From there, they opened the bags and began measuring and parceling out what was in there.

“I need to get a closer look; I need to see if I recognize anyone down there,” David whispered.

“No,” Olivia hissed back. “You’ll be seen and we’ll be caught. We need to call this in. This is bad, David.”

“We can’t call it in; we need to find out who’s moving it. Whoever it is, is smart enough to stay off the cops’ radar. They know what they’re doing; we need to find out who it is.” He moved to the left, intending to go down the stairs, but Olivia grabbed his arm and held him where he was with her surprisingly strong grip.

“The person in charge of this is that fat bald guy, do you know him?” Olivia asked.

  “No,” David had to admit.

“He was talking to his boss on the phone, which means the boss is not here. We need to go.”

David looked down at the floor. Someone had taken over their operations, and they had been planning to do so for a while. This wasn’t some last minute drug den someone had put together. The lighting and security and front spoke of a plan, of a lot of planning. David looked for the bald man; he wanted to find him and beat him until he told David everything he knew.

But Olivia’s firm grip was still on his arm. She was pulling him in the opposite direction, towards the stairs and freedom. On the floor, he could see that the men had unloaded the last of their drugs and were about to go back up the stairs.

“David, please,” Olivia whispered into his ear. “Please, we have to go now.” Reluctantly he allowed her arm to pull him away from the landing and up the stairs. They closed both doors behind them and snuck out through the now open backdoor. In his mind David couldn’t decide if he and Olivia were really good at this, if they had gotten lucky, or if the security was that bad.

They passed the empty truck with David taking careful note of the make, model, and license plate. They hopped into Olivia’s car and sat next to each other breathing heavily and staring at the door. It only took a moment for the delivery guys to come out, but they didn’t get right into the truck. They sat outside and lit cigarettes while flipping through their phones.

One man turned towards the car and looked right at David, right into his eyes. David played it cool, he let his face break into a smile, and he said out loud to Olivia, “Laugh, they’re looking at us.” Olivia’s face broke into a smile that didn’t reach her eyes and she pretended to laugh with him. David didn’t look back at the men. Instead, he leaned over to Olivia and kissed her. He let his tongue slide into her mouth and brought his hand to her cheek.

She kissed him back, and he closed his eyes. It hurt to kiss her. His still broken skin cried out at being stretched and pulled, but he didn’t care. It was worth it. Her kiss was gentle and testing, as they took the time to explore each other. His hands went down her arm and rested on her knee. Finally, she broke the kiss, turning away from him and tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.

“They’re going,” she said. “Should we follow them?”

“No,” David said. “They’ll see us.” He glanced up and watched the truck rumble out of sight. He leaned back in his seat and sighed, as the adrenaline drained from his body, leaving him feeling empty and tired.

“I got the plates. I can run them tomorrow; that might give us some answers,” Olivia said, starting the car.

“You’re not going to call it in?” David asked.

“No, you’re right. We need to get the guy on top. Otherwise this will just pop up somewhere else.” Together, they drove back into town. It was late now and streets were empty. David thought about what he had seen, that was heroin they had been moving in that warehouse. No more weed; they had moved on to bigger, harder, nastier drugs. David settled into his seat wondering what to do. He couldn't tell the Reapers that he was working with Olivia. Not only was she a cop, but also she was a cop on their beat and one many suspected of bringing the hammer down on the club. He also couldn’t tell them what he had found, less it sent the rat scurrying out of David’s reach.

“David,” he heard a soft voice whispering his name. He opened his eyes and sat up. He hadn’t even been aware of falling asleep, but there was Olivia gently stroking his face and whispering his name. Her perfect face above his was a lovely sight, and he couldn’t help but reach out to touch her, running his hand through her hair.

“You look exhausted,” she said with a smile.

“I am exhausted,” he answered. “But when I try to sleep, I just keep going over everything in my head over and over again. And when I finally get that out of my head. All I can think about is you.” Olivia’s breath hitched in her throat. “I don’t want what we have to just be a one-night stand. I want you—all the time. I’ll just be riding my bike or doing nothing at all and you’ll pop into my mind and I start kicking myself for letting you go.” He stopped, as Olivia’s lips fell onto his own.

He didn’t care that it hurt; he didn’t care that he was tired. This was what he wanted. He kissed her back deeply, his tongue mingling with hers. He leaned over and put his hand on the back of her neck pulling her closer, refusing to let them be separated. His tongue plunged into her mouth and caressed hers, and he let his hand fall from her neck to her breast where he massaged her through the thin fabric of her shirt.

He broke the kiss and leaned towards her and began to kiss his way down her neck. She cried out and moaned, as his tongue flicked against that sensitive place where her neck met her shoulder. He bit down, and she shuddered and tried to pull away, but he just continued to kiss her as she moaned his name. Finally, she leaned down and grabbed his mouth with hers, and they were kissing frantically, as if they could never quite get enough of each other.

Then, he felt her hand, as it traveled up his leg until it stopped at his growing member. Over his jeans, she gently ran her fingers up and down it. David shuddered and then leaned into her touch. His head was buried in her hair, and he was sure that he couldn’t take much more.

  “I want you,” he whispered.

  CHAPTER EIGHT

Olivia nodded at David, unable to speak. She didn’t want him. She needed him. She hadn’t been able to stop thinking about him, and now that she was so close to what she wanted, nothing could have torn her away.

“Take off your shirt,” he said quietly. Olivia’s hands reached down, and she pulled the shirt up and over her head, showing the lacey black bra she had been wearing underneath. “Your bra, too,” David said, his voice breathless. She reached around and undid the snaps, letting the straps fall away and finally the garment itself exposing her breasts to the cool desert air. She watched as David reached down and pulled the lever under his seat, pushing it back as far as it would go. He unbuttoned his jeans and slipped them off, his boxers following. His erection sprang forth, already hard and ready for her.

Olivia unzipped her shorts and slid out of them—but left the black lace panties she was wearing on.

“Come here,” he said. Olivia crawled over the seat to him, and putting one knee on either side, she straddled him.

“Am I hurting you?” she asked. With his shirt off, she could see the deep purple bruises on his rib cage.

“Never,” he said, and she leaned down and kissed each bruise gently. When she was done she sat up and kissed him again moaning when he bit down so gently on her lower lip. Still wearing her panties, she beg
an to grind against him. Rubbing up and along his shaft as she kissed him, he broke the kiss to moan loudly. His hands were running up and down her back, clinging to her and pulling her closer and harder against him. He pawed at the waistband to her panties in frustration. But Olivia just kept going, she could feel her release building up inside of her with every teasing touch from his cock that still hadn't entered her. She could feel him through the thin material, feel his hard erection and the pre-cum that had slipped out of it.

“I can’t take any more,” he whispered. Using both of his hands, he ripped the lace panties in half, pulling them off of her and throwing them into the back seat. Olivia gasped at the sensation of her clothes being literally ripped off of her. Looking deep into David’s blue eyes, she reached down and took him in her hand guiding him inside of her.

She gasped when he entered her, as her body stretched around him. He pushed in deeper and deeper until he was completely inside of her. She began to move, slowly pumping her body up and down on top of him.

“Yes,” he moaned into her ear, as Olivia let out a gasp of pleasure. Something about the angle was just right. With every thrust he hit that spot that sent shockwaves of pleasure through her body. It felt so good and every movement was building up inside of her into this roiling storm of passion and pleasure.

“Yes, David. Please,” she murmured into his ear. She was close; God, she was so close. She didn’t care if anyone saw or heard her. She needed that release at that moment more than anything. His hands were grabbing her hips, and his strong arms were guiding her up and down. Then, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close so that every part of her body was touching every part of his. Her skin felt like it was covered in sparks, and it was the most wonderful feeling she had ever experienced.

“Yes...yes,” she moaned as she came closer and closer to orgasm. She moved up and down, feeling his shaft as it entered her and then pulled all the way out. The sensation was too much to handle, but nothing could convince her to stop. She felt her orgasm grow and grow, getting closer and closer, until finally her skin began to tingle and she could feel it begin. That wave of passion that was going to consume her. She cried out loudly as it grew and then finally it crashed over her and with one last thrust from David she screamed out as her body convulsed against him. She lost of sense of herself, as it roared through her. They rode it out together, as David gave one last groan and thrust deeply into her, holding her until they were both spent.

Olivia was exhausted the next day. It was after two in the morning when she finally got home. She left David at the gas station with the promise that they would meet there the next night. She tore her clothes off, leaving a trail of clothes from her front door to her bed. She fell face first onto her mattress and was asleep before she knew it. The chimes of her alarm woke her at seven, and with a groan, she stumbled out of bed, showered, dressed, and headed to work. She still felt half asleep when she got there. She drank all the coffee she could get her hands on, but still, her eyes barely stayed open.

She had work to do. She sat down and logged into her computer and ran the plates from the night before. The vehicle was registered to a man who lived in Texas. There was a certificate of sale to a “Tom Smith,” a fake name if she had ever heard of one.

Olivia called the number that was associated with the last titleholder, but the line just rang and rang—another dead end. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the screen, deciding to search the building address next. She had just entered the address when Lance appeared over her shoulder.

“Why are you searching property on the west side of town? We don’t patrol there.”

“I was uh...” but her sleep deprived brain went blank. “Ugh, wrong address,” she said quickly. “I meant to search the east side of the street. I saw some people hanging out there the other day.” She quickly typed in the new address, praying it was a real place. Thankfully it was, and Lance nodded, satisfied, and sat down at his desk.

“You ready to go out on patrol?” Lance asked.

“Yeah, do you want to drive today? I’m exhausted, didn’t get any sleep last night,” Olivia said, as they stood and headed towards the garage.

“Sure, thanks,” Lance grumbled, taking the keys from Olivia.

Olivia slipped into the passenger seat and watched Lance get in the driver’s seat. A lot had changed since their first days working together. She had taken charge, and he had been a suitable number two. They hadn’t had any fights about answering calls or doing their jobs in general. It was nice; it felt like she had whipped him into shape, and now she was getting a pleasant reward.

“So, you didn’t sleep well last night? Up late with some guy?” Lance asked.

Olivia’s first instinct was to laugh. It was only after a second that she realized she had been up late with some guy. Only they hadn’t been drinking and hooking up. They’d been scoping out a drug den and trying to track down a rat. Then, they had hooked up. But she could never tell Lance that. Olivia wished she had a real partner; someone she could trust and confide in, but that person wasn’t Lance. It turned out that person was a biker.

“No, I wish,” Olivia said, shaking her head. “It was just one of those nights, you know?”

“Oh yeah. I hear you.” Lance answered. “The wife was up sick the other night—” Olivia slowly tuned Lance out. She knew all she needed to do was nod and say “yes” every now and again and Lance would be satisfied.

She hoped David was getting some rest. She imagined him in bed, no shirt on, fast asleep. She could crawl in next to him. Rest her head on his chest and let the rhythm of his breathing rock her to sleep. She could still remember his kiss and his touch. She hated the fact that she couldn't be with him, that she was stuck in this car with Lance instead.

Their shift was thankfully quiet and simple—a few tickets, but no calls. Things were still quiet from the raid on God’s Reapers. People were keeping their heads down and trying to stay off the cops’ radar. Olivia, for one, was thankful for the quiet day. They returned to the precinct early. Normally, this would be a time for paperwork, but it had been such a quiet day there wasn’t much to do.

Olivia needed a moment alone to search the property info that she and David had stumbled upon last night, but Lance was suddenly like a lost puppy, clinging to her side. She needed to get rid of him without raising suspicion.

“Hey man, why don’t you head off now? I can stay and do this paperwork. I feel bad that you always take the brunt of it,” Olivia said, assuming that the chance to leave work early would be an offer Lance couldn’t refuse.

“Oh no. I’ll stay. I like doing paperwork. I know how crazy that sounds, but it’s true,” Lance said. Olivia ground her teeth and wondered what to do now. She needed to search and didn’t want Lance hovering over her shoulder when she did it.

“No, I mean it,” Olivia said. She grabbed the handwritten note he was holding and pulled at it, but Lance only held it tighter. “Let me make this up to you and do this,” Olivia said forcefully, finally managing to pull the paper out of his hand. “Go on,” she said, trying to force her voice to be lighthearted. “Go home to that wife of yours; I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Yeah...alright,” Lance said, giving Olivia a confused look. “If you say so.”

Finally, he left, and Olivia threw the paperwork aside and searched the address. It belonged to a man named William Seymour. But when she looked up the name William Seymour, she found that his current address was an old folks’ home two towns over called Floral Winds Retirement Home. Olivia picked up the phone and called the nursing home.

“Yes, hello. I’m Officer Waters, calling from the Marina’s Crest PD, can I please speak to a Mr. William Seymour?” she said into the phone.

“What is this in regards to?” the receptionist on the other line asked.

“About a property he owns in Marina’s Crest.”

“Well, I’m sorry, but Mr. Seymour has been in a coma for the last four years,” the wo
man said.

“Is there a relative I can call instead?” Olivia asked.

“Sadly, no. He doesn’t have any family. We would actually love it if you could put us in touch with his relatives.”

  “Any visitors?” Olivia asked.

  “Nope,” the receptionist said. “Sorry.”

Olivia sighed and put the phone down, another dead-end. The only thing it did reveal was that whoever was running this new business had put a lot of time into it. Someone was ready to pick up where the Reapers had fallen; someone who had knocked them down first. It might be worth a visit to go and see William Seymour. Maybe the person had been nice enough to leave him some flowers before stealing his property, but there was no way for Olivia to know.

She was beyond exhausted but had offered to do all the paperwork from the day. She hurried through it and was finally able to leave. She had just enough time to go home and sleep for a few hours before she was set to meet David at midnight. They needed to find something solid tonight. She couldn’t keep doing this. She couldn't be a cop at night and by day. She needed a good night’s sleep some time. But more than that, she needed to make sure that no one saw her sneaking around late at night with David.
