The squawk of a red hawk pierced the moment. Overhead, two birds lazily soared back and forth together. “Ah… look,” Vicky purred. “She found her mate.”
“And so did I.” Christiaan gathered her into his arms. “Now, what about that kiss?”
He pulled her hard against him and captured her lips. Although they’d kissed a thousand times before, this one was far better than any previous. Emotions whirled, mixed, and washed over them like morning clouds at the top of Mother Shasta. Their love had endured and would until the end of time. It wouldn’t be sunsets and roses all the time, but they’d learned the most valuable lesson of love.
Believe in it. Trust in it. And, with it, you can climb mountains.
What God hath joined, let no man put asunder.
