With fingers she couldn’t believe were capable of unbuttoning his ruffled shirt, as shaky as they were, Teddy swiftly worked her way down the length of it until her hands were smoothing over his chest, palming his hot flesh.

“You’ve been driving me crazy for months, Gribanov,” he murmured against her lips, slipping his arms under her waist.
She pre
ssed her fingers to his lips to keep him at bay for just a moment longer. “Wait. Seriously. Tonight was everything a prom could be and more. Have I said thank you for making me feel like I’m the most important person in the world?”
Kissing her fingertips, Cormac smiled. “You are the most important person in my world. Well, you and Nee-Nee the giraffe. I’m just telling you right now, if anyone can give you a run for your money, it’s gonna be her. Have you seen the way she bats her eyelashes at me? Crushes me. She’s damn well irresistible.”
Nee-Nee, the one-eyed giraffe, adored Cormac. When she saw him from an acre away, she came running. “Am I gonna have to take a bitch down with my dart gun?” she teased, kissing the corner of his mouth.
He mock-shivered, his eyes gleaming. “Oooo, I like it when you get all Raiders of The Lost Ark on me. It’s hot.”

“Owned forever?” she asked, snuggling under him, more incredibly happy than she’d ever been.
“Forever, or at least until you retire that damn dart gun.” He laughed at his own joke.
And then she couldn’t help but laugh, too.
But the best part was when they laughed together—in the way only two people who were true life mates do.
