The Cowboy's Baby: Mpreg Romance (Black Meadow Ranch Book 1) Page 14

by Giovanna Reaves

“Hey, little one, I got to see you for the first time today.” He felt a kick against his palm. “I’m going to try to be the father you need, just like my dad is to me, the same way Bill and Denny are to your dad.” He meant every word, he wanted and would be a part of his son’s life. No matter what.

How had he accumulated so much stuff in the short amount of time he had been living with Marla? It was a few days after Kane had gone with him to his doctor’s appointment and true to his word, he was moving in with the man. When he’d told Marla and his parents, they were all pretty happy about it. Truthfully, Cole half expected them to run into his room and start packing his stuff. He looked around the room as he filled the last box and noticed that what he was putting in the box wasn’t his clothes.

They belonged to Kane. In a short time, Kane’s things had taken over his room. Two of his boots were still sitting in the corner and one of his baseball hats was hanging on the hook on the back of the door. Kane’s things were littered all over his small room. He was starting to get the feeling that he was set up by his lover.

  “Hey, are you ready?”

He looked at the entrance of the door to Kane. Am I? Staring into his lover’s face and imaging walking away from the man hurt more than it should have. He walked away easily from Ryker—more than once—and it didn’t make his heart ache, it could only mean one thing. He was ready to start their life together. He placed a smile on his face then walked over to his lover and wrapped his arms around his waist, laying his head on his chest. “You set me up, didn’t you?”

“What do you mean?” Kane asked while wrapping his arms around him.

“Nothing, don’t worry about it.” At this point, he didn’t care if Kane gave him a helping hand to get him to move forward.

They stood there holding each other, standing at the entrance of the room. His life was moving in a completely different direction. He ran from one man and ran into the arms of another who wanted to protect him. He was falling in love for maybe the first time. Raising his head, he gazed in Kane’s eyes.

  “Thank you.”

  “For what?”

He didn’t answer simply chuckled, going to his toes he kissed his lover quickly before backing away slowly. He held on to Kane’s hands. “Can you help me with these boxes?” He lowered his tone and let go of the other man’s hands. Reaching for the hem of his T-shirt, he raised it over his head.

“You know your parents and Marla are downstairs waiting for us.” He stepped closer to Cole, leaning in and sucking on his neck.

Cole’s breath hitched as his arms wrapped around Kane’s shoulders. “I know, but there’s nothing wrong in saying a proper goodbye to the room we shared our first night together in.”

Kane groaned as his hands moved down from his waist and grabbed his ass. Cole gripped Kane’s T-shirt, pulling it over his head, causing them to separate for a few short seconds. The T-shirt joined his on the floor. Hands going to his upper thighs as he was hoisted in the air. He wrapped his legs around Kane as he was carried to the bed. Even with his added baby weight, Kane lifted him as if he weighed nothing.

“This is going to be quick,” Kane said between kisses.

“I don’t need perfection, just you inside of me, now.”

  “Good.”

Slowly he felt his body being lowered to the bed. He was so wrapped up in the feeling of Kane over him and the man’s lips doing wicked things to his lips, he didn’t hear the clearing of someone’s throat.

“I swear if you two don’t stop it now, I’m going to get the hose and cool you two down,” his dad said.

Cole and Kane stopped kissing and slowly turned their heads toward the door and stared at Denny who had his hands crossed over his chest, scowling at them.

“If you two aren’t downstairs in two minutes, I’m coming back with a bucket of cold water.”

“Do you think you can be done in two minutes?” Cole asked Kane.

“Baby, not even I can be that fast.” He got off Cole and the bed, pulling him to his feet. They held hands as they walked to the door looking at Denny.

“No, I hear you’re more like ten minutes,” Denny mumbled loud enough for them to hear. Cole tried to stifle his laughter.

“Where the hell did you hear that?” Kane asked.

“I will not reveal my sources,” Denny answered. His eyes shifted quickly to Cole’s direction then back to Kane.

Kane turned and looked at him with his hands on his hips. “You told him?”

“I might have mentioned that your mother kind of interrupted and the conversation that followed after. But I did tell him your stamina is out of this world and you take me to heaven every time.” He finished with a sweet smile, hoping it boosted his lover’s ego.

Kane wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled him close. “I do, don’t I?”

“Always.” Kane bent down and kissed him, devouring his lips. He didn’t stop the moan that came from deep down inside of him.

“Oh brother, you two are sweet and sickening at the same time,” Denny said getting their attention.

“Yes, we are,” Cole told him. They separated except for their hands and started walking out of the room.

“Aren’t you guys forgetting something?” Denny asked them.

  “What?” Kane asked.

“The boxes you came up here for before you started groping on my son, and maybe putting your shirts back on.” He walked into the bedroom and took one of the boxes off the bed. “I swear if he wasn’t already pregnant, he would be by now the way you two are always all over each other,” he mumbled walking out of the bedroom.

Kane had the decency to blush causing him to laugh. His dad had no problem embarrassing his boss and son.

  “What’s so funny?”

“I . . .” The words froze on his lips. “I’m just happy,” he said instead. He knew what he was going to say but for some reason, he held back. The last time he told a man he loved him, the words were used against him.

“Me too,” Kane said to him. “Come on, let’s get you settled in your new home.” He walked around the room and picked up all his clothes, stuffing them in the box on the bed before walking out of the bedroom. “His new home,” that had a nice ring to it. Picking up the teddy bear that Marla bought for the baby, he brought it to his nose and smelled it, smiling. Things were looking better and better every day and he was starting to feel happy. So why did the feeling of dread linger in the back of his mind?

Kane was in his office going over some paperwork when the most enticing scent wafted under his nose. He looked up to see Cole standing at the door with a towel wrapped around his waist and his body glistening from his shower. He was staring at Kane with eyes that told him it wasn’t a coincidence.

They’d been living together for a couple of weeks and although he’d never lived with anyone before, he was finding that he had a knack for domestication. He woke up in the morning with a sexy man sleeping against him and came home to a home-cooked meal after a long day at work. Not to mention that Cole seemed to be going through some kind of phase where he couldn’t keep his hands off Kane.

Thank the gods for pregnancy hormones.

“Can I help you?” he asked setting his pen down. His cock jerked when Cole licked his already wet, pouty lips.

“Do you plan on working for long?” He walked into his office undoing his towel. Kane pushed his chair back from his desk and turned to meet Cole who straddled his legs.

“Why?” His voice deep and thick with arousal. He leaned in and pulled one of his lover’s nipples into his mouth.

“I got lonely in the shower,” he panted. Fingers carded through his hair, stopping at the base of his neck. “Need you.”

He licked his way up to his lover’s chin and then his lips, capturing them into a kiss. He moaned the second their lips touched. He guided his hand down Cole’s body and gripped his lover’s cock. He swiped his thumb across the head, smearing precum around and gathering more, usi
ng it as lubrication along his lover’s shaft.

His sweet lover quivered at his touch and he loved the effect he had on Cole. Kane licked his way down to his lover’s neck then shoulder, sucking on it. He brought his free hand up to Cole’s lips. “Open,” he ordered. Cole did as asked and he stuck two fingers in his mouth. Cole sucked on them as if he was sucking on his cock, lust blazing in his bright blue eyes.

Cole’s hips jerked, and he fucked Kane’s hand. He groaned, loving the sight of his aroused lover. Since they’d been more open with their relationship, he found that he enjoyed making his lover’s body do whatever he wanted. He removed his fingers from Cole’s mouth and brought it to his ass, rubbing and wetting his hole before slowly inserting a finger inside. He didn’t plan on fucking Cole tonight but the way the other man looked riding his finger and palm, he might have to reconsider.

Cole moaned and rested his forehead on Kane’s shoulder, wrapping his arms around his neck. He moved his finger in and out of his little lover’s hole, drawing out moans and words that made no sense to him. His own cock pressed against his zipper begging to be touched, but he ignored it, concentrating on his lover’s pleasure.

Inserting another finger, he brushed against the other man’s prostate. Cole yelled in his ear as hot cum soaked the front of his shirt and his hand. His lover’s body shivered while riding out his orgasm. He smiled delightedly when Cole whispered for more in his ear. His work was over for the night. Pulling his fingers from Cole’s hole, he stood with the other man in his arms and walked to the bedroom they shared. He was certainly happy for pregnancy hormones.

“Would you stop doing that!” Cole snapped at Kane.

He didn’t know what the problem was, everything was going great since he and Kane started living together. They made love as often as he wanted and the other man was always bending over backward to please him. But today it seemed his lover was getting on Cole’s last nerve.

“What?” Kane asked looking up from his lunch. “What am I doing?”

“Your chewing, it sounds like one of the horses eating hay,” he stage-whispered.

Kane placed his fork down and looked around the crowded and loud Meadow Brook where they had met up for lunch. “Let me get this straight, you can hear my chewing in all this noise?”

“Yes, now stop doing it.” He folded his arms over his chest and glared at the other man.

  “Are you okay?”

“Stop asking me that, Kane, I’m fine,” he yelled. The entire restaurant went completely silent. “Now look what you did,” he whispered. “You have everyone staring at us. How could you embarrass me like this?” Kane was staring at him as if he’d lost his mind and it only made him more irritated.

“Um . . . I’m sorry,” Kane said to him.

Tears prickled in the corner of his eyes. “You don’t mean it. You’re just saying that. You don’t love me or the baby.” He got up and walked, or rather waddled, out of the restaurant feeling further embarrassed by his actions.

Kane sat at the table and watched as his nine-months-pregnant lover ran out of the restaurant crying. He realized that Cole had been a bit off lately and was doing everything he could not to irritate the other man, but it seemed his efforts were in vain because he still did something wrong.

  “What the fuck just happened?”

  “Pregnancy hormones.”

Kane looked up to see Bill standing at his table. Everyone in the restaurant went back to what they were doing before Cole’s outburst. Bill sat down in the chair Cole just vacated. “Let me guess, you’ve been enjoying the best part of pregnancy hormones?”

“The best part?” Kane felt so confused.

“You know, always wants you no matter the time or day.” Bill wiggled his eyebrows and he got the idea.

He nodded and cleared his throat, talking about sex with his lover’s father was embarrassing. “So, what I just experienced was the bad part?”

  “One of them,” Bill said.

“How many of them are there?”

“As many as he can make up.” Bill chuckled. “When Denny was pregnant with Cole in the last month of his pregnancy, it was a roller coaster of emotions. One minute he hated everything about me. The way I looked, the way I smelled, ate, fuck, you name it. I couldn’t do anything right. And the next minute he wanted me, couldn’t keep his hands off me. He showed up. . .”

Kane raised a hand stopping Bill. “Please, don’t go any further with the rest of that story. It’s not something I want to imagine about my lover’s parents.” The older man nodded and raised an eyebrow along with a wicked smirk that left nothing to the imagination. “So, what do I do when he’s like this?”

“Just agree with everything he says. Right now, he knows you haven’t done anything to make him upset, but he’s just as confused as you are.”

“Okay, I can do that. Agree with anything he says.”

“I have to ask though, is it true what he said?”

  “What?”

“That you don’t love him or the baby?”

Kane was taken aback by the question. He knew he was falling in love with Cole but had yet to tell him. He wanted to find the right moment to say the words. As for the baby, he considered it his.

“Of course, it’s not true. I love him and our baby.”

“Then I think you better tell him.” Kane nodded. “And chocolate, bring chocolate when you go to grovel. It fixes everything.” Bill got up, resting a hand on his shoulder. “Everything will be all right, I promise.” He walked away leaving Kane to his thoughts.

  Chapter Eleven

Kane opened his parents’ door to their cabin and walked in without knocking. The cabin was silent which wasn’t out of the ordinary, what was unusual was seeing Cole sleeping on his parents’ couch. He sat on the coffee table in front of the couch and stared at his lover.

“What did you do to him?”

He didn’t look up when he heard his mother’s question. It should have shocked him that she automatically chose Cole’s side. But he knew she adored Cole the second she met him.

“Apparently, everything.” He sighed and ran a finger lightly down the side of Cole’s face.

“It comes with being in a relationship. Especially, when the other is pregnant.”

“That’s what I’m learning.” He smiled then looked at his mother finally. “Can I have Abuelo's ring?”

Julia gasped and rested a hand on her chest. “Hijo, ¿estas seguro?”

“I am. I’m positive that having him in my life is the best thing that’s happened to me.” He looked back at Cole. “You were right when you told me I’d been running away from responsibilities. I just never thought having a family was for me. But being with him changed it all. I think he did the moment I saw him. He’s my forever one.” Kane was surprised that he’d said the words, but he wasn’t going to take back what he knew to be true.

"I'm so happy for you." She walked over to him and kissed him on the top of his head. He wrapped an arm around her waist and soaked up her motherly embrace.

She let him go and left the room. Kane rested a hand on Cole's stomach. "Hey, little one." He smiled when he received a kick in an answer. "Your dad is all over the place right now. So, go easy on him, okay?” He leaned closer to Cole's stomach. "I can't wait to meet you." He kissed his child through his lover, resting his forehead on Cole's stomach. He just needed to agree with everything the man said.

Fingers carded in his hair and he looked up to see Cole staring down at him. "I'm sorry," he said before Kane could say anything.

Kane went to his knees, leaning down and kissed him. "You have nothing to be sorry for," he said when he pulled back from their kiss.

"I don't know what's wrong with me. I just felt like everyone, especially you, was getting on my nerves. After I left the restaurant, I was ashamed of how I was acting and got in my car and started to drive and the next thing I knew I was on your parents’ doorstep a blubbering mess. Kane . . . "

  "Y
ou're wrong you know," Kane said shutting him up.

  "Wrong about what?"

"You and the baby. I love you both. Gods, Cole, I love you so damn much it's confusing and scary at the same time. I worry that I'll never be a good enough father to our child and a good man for you. Sometimes I want you so bad I can't think of anyone or anything but you."

Cole stared at him and Kane noticed the tears sliding down the sides of his face. "I love you too," he said getting up and wrapping a hand around Kane’s neck. "I love you, so much."

Kane cupped the back of Cole’s neck and kissed the side of it. He looked up when his mother walked back into the room. She smiled and then handed him the ring he'd asked for. He pulled back from their embrace and looked at the ring resting in the palm of his hand and then back to Cole.

"When my grandparents met, my grandpapa Ricardo knew he'd met the man of his dreams. Ricardo was also a jewelry maker, and he made this that very night. On their first date he asked Jonah to marry him. He accepted, and they lived a long life together. Before my grandpapa Ricardo died, he passed the ring down to his daughter. Who now passes it to me. Cole William Bradford, will you do me the honor of marrying me?"

Tears pooled in Kane's eyes and he almost missed Cole nodding his response since it was too hard for him to speak. With shaky hands, Kane placed the ring on Cole's finger, it was a perfect fit but he didn't think about the reason. Cole threw his arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a kiss. Everyone and everything else was forgotten.

Cole leaned against the frame of the door with his hands on his stomach, looking into his baby's room. Everything was ready and soon he would get to meet his baby boy. The walls were painted a soft blue, with rainbow-colored air balloon decals. He walked over to the mahogany wood crib in the center of the room and picked up one of the teddy bears that he’d bought.
