While my colleagues found such displays obnoxious, the kids liked it, and wanted to know what else I could do. After I’d dolloped each pastry with raspberry filling, the bell rang. I was tired, and nervous sweat bit my armpits, but I had to admit that I’d had enjoyed myself. Maybe I should become a cooking teacher.

Claymore Award Finalist Vinnie Hansen writes the Carol Sabala mystery series (Misterio Press) as well as literary works. Her story Novel Solution appears in Fish or Cut Bait, an anthology of Sisters in Crime Guppies (Wildside Press), and her story Critical Mass is now out in Destination: Mystery! (Darkhouse Books). She is basking in the glow of her Golden Donut Award from the Writers’ Police Academy and the B.R.A.G. Medallion awarded her latest mystery, Black Beans & Venom.
