He grunted. “Now, you’re just trying to piss me off. Navy all the way,” he growled as he rolled over her body.

He bent to kiss her, but she turned her head. “Morning breath,” she muttered.

  “Think I care?”

“Think I was worried about mine?” she asked, grinning. “I’d feel more comfortable if you kissed something else.”

“Bet you would, but you’re the one who wrapped your hand around me.” With his knee, he nudged her thigh to force her to open to him.

“You’re the one who put my hand there.” Then she gasped, because he found her center and pushed inside.

He gave her a shallow stroke, happy to discover she was already wet. “You did it in your sleep.”

  “Likely story.”

“Think I’d lie about something like that?” He nuzzled her ear and bit the lobe then thrust again, this time deeper. And he was lost in the sensations—her slick heat surrounding his cock, her curves cushioning his frame. He came up on one elbow to play with one of her tits, molding it in his palm then flicking a nail over the tightly beaded tip.

When she arched beneath him, he nearly came undone. He loved everything about the way she responded to him, loved the way she rocked beneath him, curving her hips to take him deeper. When she raised her legs and dug her heels into his buttocks, he had to move faster, had to thrust deeper. “Ah, Piper,” he whispered. “Fuck, you feel good.”

Her fingertips scraped down his back then dug into his ass. “Faster,” she said, then moaned.

Their breath grew more ragged, chopped apart by his strengthening strokes. He gave her nipple one last flick before bracing himself above her to gain more leverage as he flexed in and out of her tight, hot pussy.

Green eyes glinted between her half-opened lids, and she bit her bottom lip, slipped a finger into the crease between his buttocks and fingered his back entrance.

  “Careful,” he bit out.

  “Whatcha gonna do?”

“Jesus, Pipe. Want this over fast?”

She laughed and slid away her finger. “Make me fly.”

He narrowed his gaze, his only warning, then pulled out abruptly, rearing backward to grip her body and roll her to her belly.

Not that she wasn’t game. She came up on her knees and flipped back her hair, staring over her shoulder as he moved closer. He gripped one corner of her hip to hold her still, then he fisted himself and ran the tip of his cock through her slit, continuing upward to tease her anus.

She sucked in a sharp breath, but let it go in a slow exhale when he moved downward again and pushed through her folds, sliding deep into her body. Then he tightened his hands on her, holding her immobile and began to pump—fast straight thrusts followed by languid, screwing strokes.

“Don’t tease,” she said, her voice light and breathless. She leaned toward the bed and rubbed her chest against the covers.

“No, you don’t,” he bit out. Her tits were his to pleasure. He reached forward, cupped them, and pulled her upward. Now she sat on his lap, impaled. With hard, upward bumps, he fucked her while he played with her amazing breasts. He squeezed them, rolled them, then twisted her nipples, increasing the pinch until her pussy cinched around his dick, and she was bouncing with him, her head lolling backward.

  “Almost there,” she whispered.

“Not yet,” he said, his voice harsh. He let go of one breast and smoothed a hand down her sweaty abdomen to finger her clit.

She jerked, then settled back again, a deep groan vibrating through her.

His thrusts shortened, and he pinched her clit, trying to grasp the hard little knot, surrounding it to tug and squeeze it.

Piper yelped and bounced quickly, out of rhythm. “Now, now, now. Wolf!”

He clasped her hips again and took over, moving her with hard, quick movements up and down his shaft until his balls drew up and his head exploded.

His shout of release was pure catharsis. He rocked with her, sliding her forward and back, grinding her down on his cock to prolong her pleasure. When the last spurt of ejaculate pumped from his cock, he wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed the corner of her neck, loving her salty taste. “Goddamn,” he breathed.

Piper placed her hands over his, stroking, and relaxed against his chest. “We should shower.”

He tightened his embrace. “We’re talking. Now.”

She craned her head to meet his gaze. “Like this?”

“I have you where I want you. And there’s no escape.”

Her body stiffened a little, but she nodded. “Does your team approve your interrogation methods?”

“This isn’t an interrogation,” he said and bit her earlobe.

“No, it’s torture.” But she raised a hand to his cheek to hold him there.

He nuzzled her. “We have to stay here until Ponce’s brother is in custody.”

“And if he goes to ground? We can’t stay holed up forever.”

“I don’t think the capture will take that long. Neither does our forensic psych guy. Cesar’s not well-hinged. He’s not patient.”

“Sure it’s safe for us to play house while he’s searching for us? Shouldn’t we be watching the entrance, the parking lot?”

“Like I said, we have guys watching both. And we’ve got cameras.”

“Yeah, cameras.” She gave him a sideways wink. “Sure there’s none in here?”

“Why? Do you like the idea of someone watching us fuck?” he whispered, knowing that while they weren’t being filmed, audio was being recorded. Not that he gave a fuck. And not that he’d ever tell her. “Do you?” he whispered more softly.

“Maybe,” she said in a little voice.

He chuckled and gave her cheek a peck. “So there are some rules.”

  In profile, her nose wrinkled.

“No leaving. Don’t even open the door. And the burner phone is off limits. Only for check-ins—my check-ins with my team.”

Her body stiffened. “I can’t talk to Calvin? That hardly seems fair.”

“I’ll ask Deke or Jax to get in touch with him, make sure he’s chilling—like he was told to do. And it’s more than fair. You had no business going after a cartel hit man.” He dug his chin into her shoulder. “This is all on you.”

She gave a heavy sigh. “Do you think Calvin could be a target, too—if Cesar can’t find me?”

“The profiler warned he might. To be safe, Calvin’s got his own protection detail.”

Her body relaxed more deeply against his. “Bet he loves that. He’s probably watching football with them and drinking beer.” She angled her head toward him again. “And thanks. Tell your team thanks. I’d hate for him to be hurt or worse.”

“We’re family, babe. My team. You and me—and Calvin. It’s how it works in my world.”

“Must be nice to have that sense of belonging.”

Wolf tilted his head. “I’m probably the least ‘connected’ of my team. I was, am, a sniper. I work mostly alone, sometimes with a spotter beside me, but away from my team, covering their asses. It’s lonely work. And doing it makes you…alone. The decisions you have to make, staring down that scope, they change you, weigh on you. So, when I tell you they accept me, they do—but I always feel as though I’m on the outside looking in. Which is why you’re so damn important to me, Piper.” He leaned his forehead against the top of her shoulder and swallowed hard before he made his last admission. “You’re my…connection. You keep me human. I can’t ever lose that, or you.” And although he hated losing their physical connection, he allowed her to push off his thighs.

She turned then leaned against his chest. Her arms encircled his shoulders. “I’m not exactly an extrovert, baby. Calvin was my only family. The only person I trusted. I never let anyone closer in than that. Until you.” She kissed his lips, firm but lingering. “Seems we both have problems with being afraid. I’m afraid of losing you, too.”

Wolf released a sigh and nodded. “Just so we know where we bo
th stand. My job can take me places I can’t tell you about, but you know I’m not always safe. It’s not fair, and maybe I’m being a little chauvinistic, but it drives me nuts thinking about the kinds of risks you take.”

“You’re right. It isn’t fair. But I did promise I’d try to resist the high-stakes grabs. And I’m trying. Really. This one just fell into my lap.” Piper rubbed her cheek against his. “I could buff my heels on that stubble,” she murmured and rubbed again.

His lips twitched. “We should both bathe. I don’t expect company, but you never know.”

“What?” Her eyebrows winged high. “They can’t just check their monitor to see when we’re decent?”

He laughed and shook his head. “I love you. You know that, right?”

Her smile softened her features; she almost glowed. “I’ve never doubted how you feel about me. I love you, too.”

Love wasn’t the problem, Piper thought as she ran another loop around the inside of the rustic apartment. She’d have to make a thousand laps to match her usual workout. She leapt over an ottoman, just to add a level of difficulty, then plotted a zigzag path around the sofa, over ottoman number two, roll over the back of the sofa, swerve around the…

Okay, so she was bored. She and Wolf had never made love so many times within a single twenty-four period. Even on their honeymoon. Her vagina was sore. So were her jaws.

At the moment, if he gave her another of his sleepy, come-hither looks, she’d probably jump his shit.

Might as well work out her upper body. She dropped to the floor and began pushing up, one, two, three…

  “Your butt’s too high.”

She formed a plank and aimed a glare at Wolf who sat at the table, cleaning one of their handguns. “You’re criticizing my pushups?”

“Just sayin’. Your butt’s too high, babe.” He gave her a one-sided grin.

Her face heated. He was only trying to make her mad so they could have sex again. Arguments always led to sex. Something she usually enjoyed, but her pussy throbbed. Four, five, six…

“Here, let me help,” he said, as he finished assembling the Glock and pushed away from the table.

“I don’t need any help.” Seven…eight… nine. From the corner of her eye, she watched as he drew nearer, and then stepped one foot over her. She could feel the heat of his body as he squatted over her thighs.

Right before his hand pushed on her ass.

  She let it sink.

  “Like that.”

  She grunted. Ten…eleven…twelve…

His hand slipped between her legs. He whistled as he cupped her sex through her underwear—the only clothing she was wearing. “Still hot down here.” He pulled her panties midway down her thighs. “Give it some air, baby. Spread your feet wider.”

Boiling inside, she did as he instructed. But she also acknowledged how moisture was wetting her folds.

His fingers lightly soothed up and down her slit. One finger slid inside her. “Three more, babe.”

Pulse racing, she knew they had to make a very strange picture, but she did as he asked. Her inner muscles tightened around the digit. “Sure you don’t want me higher?” she asked, her muscles beginning to tremble.

“Only if you think it helps…your workout, that is.” He moved backward, squatting now at her feet.

She heard his zipper slide and quickly walked her feet closer, until her ass was high enough that her girly parts could meet his groin. When he moved in and his hands settled on the corners of her hips, she held still, blood pooling her head as his cock prodded her opening, then slid inside.

  “Fuck, you’re hot.”

“So’s your dick,” she gasped as he slowly pumped in and out, waiting until her moisture gave him enough lubrication to move without hurting her. She concentrated, relaxing her muscles to reduce the friction.

Soon, his balls smacked her clit, and she didn’t care that she’d been bitching, albeit internally, about all the fucking they’d been doing. Lord, she’d never get enough of him, of this. She’d married a sex god, and maybe she’d have to sit on a cushion to keep her pussy happy, but doing so would be well worth it.

“Arms,” she ground out, because she wasn’t sure how long she could hold the position.

Wolf reached to toggle her clit, and that was all it took to send her over the edge. When she came back to herself, she discovered that the only thing holding her up was his forearm around her hips. And he was laughing. “What’s so funny?”

Wolf’s cock jerked inside her with every deep guffaw. “You would have landed on your head if I hadn’t caught you.”

“I take it you didn’t come?”

“Do me a favor,” he said, tightening the band of muscle holding them locked together. “Let’s walk together to the sofa.

This time she laughed as she pushed upward with her hands and took tiny steps forward, all the while maintaining their connection. By the time he’d draped her over the sofa back, she’d forgotten all about being bored. She was glad of their time alone. It had been a long time since they’d spent a whole day together, often pulled apart by their high-octane lives.

As he pounded away, she gripped the cushions and thanked God for bringing her such a lusty man.

  Chapter Four

Wolf stared into the darkness above him, happier than he’d been in a long time…maybe in forever. With Piper beside him in the bed, life was just about perfect. Even if they were sleeping in a safe house to escape an assassin’s bullet.

His wife was a firecracker. Hotter, smarter, sweeter than he deserved, although he doubted she’d agree with the last adjective. He smiled, thinking about how hard they’d laughed, scooting toward the couch, doing their damndest not to pull apart as they’d moved. He suppressed a chuckle, remembering how she’d grumbled afterward, swearing she’d have his balls if images from “the feed” circulated around Charter. Seems being seen fucking was one thing, but being observed doing something ridiculous was quite another. He’d finally relented and told her the only thing his people might enjoy would be the sounds of their laughter as they screwed.

She’d hit him, square in the chest. “Bastard. You let me believe—”

“Tell me you weren’t even the littlest bit turned on by thinking they might be watching,” he’d whispered in her ear.

Giving his ear lobe a nibble, she’d grunted then nodded, looking sheepish.

Which reminded him he ought to check the monitors and make sure the night shift had arrived. Then he ought to check in with Deke and find out whether the group was any closer to finding Cesar Ponce.

He slid his arm from beneath Piper’s head and quietly left the bed. He donned trousers, for no other reason than to keep the cool air from arousing his genitals as he padded to the kitchenette where a single light shone above the sink. She’d had enough. The least he could do after all the pleasure she’d given him was to let her sleep.

Yawning, he scraped a hand over his face and glanced upward. One of the monitors was dark. He reached up and tapped the screen, then pushed on the cable plugged into the back. Nothing. As he stood glaring upward, another monitor went black.

The hairs on the back of his neck rose. Might be nothing. But he couldn’t take the chance. He reached beneath the sink, toward the back, where he knew more tactical gear was stored and pulled out two pairs of night vision goggles. He killed the light over the sink and donned a pair, moved to the table to get his Glock, and then quickly headed back to the bed. He leaned over Piper, who still slept soundly, and placed a hand over her mouth.

She woke in an instant, freezing in place, not drawing a breath.

“Shhh,” he said, drawing back his hand. “Goggles. Let me.” She leaned up, and he quickly put the set on her head, turned the switch, and then bent down to whisper, “Monitors just went dark. We may have a problem. Get dressed.”

She nodded, rolled from the mattress, and went straight to the clothing she’d washed earlier and which hung on a hook on the wall.

Wolf thanked God she wasn’t the hysterical type. He kept one eye on her as she dressed and armed herself and the other on the door. When he saw her nod, he pointed to the farthest corner away from the room’s entrance. She paused, signaled that he should come with her, but he shook his head. He had to find the burner phone. Again, he gestured toward the corner, not dropping his arm until she complied.

The phone was on the sofa. As he moved toward it, he cursed himself for not keeping it in his pocket or at least within easy reach.

A sound, a scrape maybe, came from near the door. He sprang over the sofa, grabbed the phone, and ran toward the corner he’d indicated. He had to get to Piper.

Just as he drew near enough to dive toward her, an explosion rocked him off his feet. A flash blinded him, the air compressed, squeezing his lungs, and a roar blasted his ears. And he was flying…

With her hands covering her ears, Piper watched, horrified, as Wolf was launched against the wall beside her. The shock wave pressed her against the wall. Her gaze shot to the gaping hole where the door had been, but no one charged through it, at least for the moment.

So she crawled toward Wolf, ignoring the fact the entrance was on fire and that smoke quickly filled the apartment. When she touched his hand, he pushed up and shook his head. His goggles were gone. She smoothed a hand over his cheek to let him know it was her.

A second later, she landed on her back, with Wolf pinning her to the ground, his weight so heavy she couldn’t draw a deep breath. She glanced beyond his shoulder, toward the entrance and spotted a figure jumping past the flames. The man was medium height, stocky build. Cesar!

She bit back a gasp and tapped Wolf’s shoulder, but he wouldn’t budge.

Ponce stepped deeper into the room, his head turning right then left.

From his profile, she could tell he wore goggles, too. In a moment, he’d spot them on the floor. She wriggled beneath Wolf, who hissed and pressed her downward. Babe, no time now to play macho man. She bumped her head against his cheek to tell him she still had her headset, that she could see. Precious seconds passed, but at last, he nodded.

Ponce drew nearer, his head still turning, and then he was looking right at them.
