Did I hate him for what he’d done to us? Of course I did, but he was my father and I had once loved him too. That’s all I wanted to do from the very earliest days I can remember. Just love him.
It’s very easy to say he should have said something to us but when I put myself in his place, I only see myself doing the same as he did.
Nothing.
Still, I don’t know how he ever thought he would get away with it. On a small island, what goes around comes around; he should have known that. And you should too. Whatever you do in this life, be it good or be it not so good, it will chase you down through the long lonely years of your life. And it will catch you up.
