“Angel wasn’t in the room. He didn’t see shit.”
“Well her phone records show that you texted her 10 times before her phone went out that day. I have a witness placing you down by the creek with her before she was murdered.”
“I lost my phone back in December, I just got a new one for Christmas. I never texted that girl after October. Did you check that?” Trey said sharply.
“So explain why your hair was found on her coat at the scene?” Both men stared at each other in silence.
“I did not kill that girl. I didn’t want anything to do with her.” Trey said breaking the awkward staring contest.
“So where were you The afternoon of December 9th?” Detective Hart asked as he took a seat.
“I was with Angel Hernandez in the rec center. Then I went over to Michele’s room.”
“Around what time?”
“I don’t remember.” Trey said aggressively.
“Being hostile will get you know where, my friend.” Detective Hart hinted. “Tell me, the last time you saw Sevynn, when she was alive what happened?”
“Fuck this, I want a lawyer!” Trey yelled.
***
“Oh my God! What happened?” Michele asked in shock. She had heard the cops picked Trey up from the stadium and put him in the back of the cop car.
“I think I might have gotten him in trouble, shit.” Angel said upset. Michele looked confused. She didn’t understand what he meant.
“What happened? Why do you think that?”
“I had called Hart back in December before Sevynn went missing. I told him that they were fighting.” Angel said nervously.
“So you snitched on him?” Michele asked.
“He was starting to get manic. I was truly starting to believe he killed Bryce the way he was acting.”
Angel reasoned.

Detective Hart received surveillance video from the overpass from highway 304. In the video a red car pulls up to the spot where Sevynn’s body was dumped, around 1:07AM. The video wasn’t very clear but you can see a figure open the passenger door open and something fall out on to the side. A few seconds later a small shiney object is thrown a few feet away. Detective Hart assumed it was Sevynn’s cell phone, from where it was found at the scene.
He headed back to the room where they were holding Trey. Detective Hart provided him with a lawyer and called his parents up to the station. As he walked by the stations lobby he could here a commotion and a woman shouting at the police, and her husband holding her back.
“Miss if you don’t calm down we will have to handcuff you
“Where is my son?” His mother yelled out, “He’s no murderer!”
“Miss, calm down.” Detective Hart said calmly. “We are trying to get this straight. I want him to be innocent just as much as you do.”
“Fuck you. I’ve heard about you, Detective Hart!” Ms. Pittman shouted after looking down at Detective Harts badge. “Up there harrassing those students! You’ve driven my son crazy!”
Detective Hart stepped back and proceeded to walk into the interrigation room, shaking his head.
“I see where you get that temper, Pittman.” He joked with Trey while entering the room. “Your mother is going crazy.” The lawyer stood up to shake Detective Hart’s hand. Trey had a miffed look on his face. He could tell by their interaction they were probably golf buddies or something.
“You have a lawyer, now speak.” Detective Hart commanded.
“What you want to know?” Trey answered.
“You said you lost your phone. Do you remember where?”
“If I knew where I had lost it, it wouldn’t be lost, right?” Trey answered slyly.
“You have to cooperate, Antonio.” The lawyer whispered. Trey nodded.
“What kind of car do you drive?”
“I have a Honda Civic. Why?”
“Color?”
“Black, why?”
“Do you recognize this car in this photo?”
Trey’s eyes grew wide and his mouth dropped. He sat in shock for a few seconds trying to digest what he was seeing. Detective Hart noticed his reaction and asked him again. “Do you recognize this car, Pittman?”
“Yes...” Trey said finally.
0:18
Trey was let out of police custody. His mother and father drove him back to campus. He was quiet the entire ride over. “I can’t believe this, man.” He kept repeating to himself.
He headed right over to the gym after he settled back into his room. He wanted to apologize to Coach Booker for the confusion.
“Yeah, I knew you were innocent.” Coach Booker said indirectly accepting his apology.
“Do you think I still have a chance?” Trey asked concerned about his football career.
“Of course. It didn’t get out to the public, you should be safe.” Coach Booker said. “Brady, will be in touch with you this weekend. You can talk about it in the article. It could work in your favor. You know straight from the horses mouth. I’ll also talk to the scouts that were out there that day. I can convince them that it was all a misunderstanding.”

Trey headed over to Michele’s building. He still couldn’t believe what Detective Hart showed him at the station. He needed to talk to her.
“Hey, I’m so glad you’re out!” Michele said surprised to see Trey at her door.
“Where are you going?” He said with no expression on his face. He noticed she had boxes and bags packed.
“Oh, just home for the weekend.” She lied.
“With your whole room?” He asked lifting his brow. “Stop bullshitting me Michele. You set me up!”
Michele turned back to him quickly. She stood quietly. Trey stood by the door so she wouldn’t try and run. He wanted to know everything.
“Yeah I did!” Michele shouted.
“Why Michele?” Trey asked.
“I didn’t mean to kill Bryce, it was an accident”
“What about, Sevynn?”
“She made me hate my boyfriend!” Michele cried. “She made me believe he had hurt her. I hated him for that.”
“Why set me up, I thought I was your friend?” Trey shouted.
“I had to take the attention off of myself. You were the only person they were expecting.” She continued. “You were so angry about Bryce being ‘the man’ and how Sevynn slept with him it was perfect. You were the perfect decoy.”
Trey stood near the door, his head began to throb. “How did you kill them?” He finally asked.
Michele sat down on her bed and thought back on the the night when Bryce died.
“After Sevynn, told me about the rape, I felt cheated. It didn’t sound like anything Bryce would do. But at the time I didn’t know Sevynn. I thought she was a cool girl and maybe what she said was true.” She continued. “She was crying so hard in the bathroom that day and she had a picture and everything so I believed it. The night of the party I was so mad at Bryce. I had been drinking and found one of those frat boys and took them up to the bathroom with me and fucked him. When I was coming out I heard him on the phone with you. I heard him say he didn’t want me to find out.” Trey walked over to the chair at her desk, he was tired of standing. Michele continued. “Bryce turned around and saw me fixing my clothes and wiping my face, the frat boy ran back down the hall. I asked him who he was talking to, I thought it was another female. But he said it was you. I didn’t believe him so I tried to grab his phone but he kept backing up and raising it over his head knowing I couldn’t reach. I was hitting him and pushing him until we got to the balcony. That’s when he flipped backwards over the railing.” She started to sob.
Trey just stared at her in disbelief with his jaw locked and tears in his eyes. “You took his phone from the scene?”
“Yes, I didn’t want to leave it there because I had touched it and my prints were on it. I took the sim card out and threw it in the trash can as I ran back to my room. When someone called me and told
me they found him, I was already shaken up so it didn’t look suspicious that I was crying.”
“And Sevynn. How did you do it?” He asked.
“That night you were drunk in your room. I took your phone and I pulled some of you hair from your locks. The day I killed Sevynn, I texted her from your phone to get her away from the campus. I told her to meet me at the creek. When she got there and saw it was me she got scared. She kept apologizing for lying on Bryce. I recented her so much. I wanted her to die, Trey, and after that argument me and you had I thought I could use that in my favor to kill her. I hit her with my old soft ball bat and dragged her to my car. I put her in the passenger seat so it wouldn’t look suspicious.”
“Yeah, like a bitch with a bloody forehead isn’t suspicious enough.” Trey said sarcastically interupting Michele.
“I put your hair on her coat and drove off but I forgot her phone was in the car. So I threw it out the window. I called from a block number to leave a tip saying I saw you at the scene with Sevynn.”
Trey was disgusted he couldn’t believe this whole time she lied about everything. He couldn’t believe she had betrayed him after he promised to take care of her.
“I can’t go to prison Trey.” She cried.
“You have to turn yourself in. They know it was you.” Trey said unsympathetically.
“You told them it was me?” She squealed.
“No the video from the overpass. They saw your car on camera”

Detective Hart knocked on the door.
“No, don’t let him in!” Michele fell to her knees and begged. Trey pushed her off of him as he walked to wards the door.
“You should of thought about this before you tried to frame me.” He said letting the Detective in. “She’s all yours. I’m out.”
Detective Hart touched Trey’s shoulder and nodded as he walked out. Michele remained on the floor hysterical on her knees.
“Michele, you’re under arrest for the murders of Bryce Henson and Sevynn Baker, you have the right to remain silent....”
As they walked out of the dorm building cameras flashed and microphones surrounded the Detective and Michele. Reporters threw out questions like:
“Michele, is it true you killed your boyfriend over a video posted on line?”
“Detective Hart, what will become of her?”
Ms. Henson approached Michele and the Detective as she appeared from the crowd. “I hope you rot in hell, you stupid bitch!”

There was going to be a memorial held at the school gym for Bryce and Sevynn. The whole school gathered inside to pay respects to their fallen peers.
Trey spotted Detective Hart by the door. He walked over to him as they entered the gym.
“You can’t get enough of good ol’ S.U. huh?” Trey joked to Detective Hart.
“Just paying my respects, man.” The Detective laughed. “Look Pittman, I want to apologize for the allegations.”
“Nah, it’s all good. You were doing your job.” Trey said accepting his apology.
“So what’s going on with the football?” Detective Hart asked.
“I’m going to the combine in a few weeks.” Trey smiled.
“Bryce would be proud of you, you know?”
“Yeah, he would. I’m doing this for him.” Trey answered. “It’s bittersweet.”
“Yup.” They continued to walk in finally getting a seat. Trey looked up at the picture of Bryce that sat in the front surrounded by balloons, stuff animals, and candles. He smiled to himself, and reminised about their high school years. He heard Bryce’s voice in his mind say, “We made it, bro!”
OVERTIME
Trey was drafted after the combine. He did not start his rookie year in the pros but he soon after became one of the leading Running Backs in the league.
On game days he would wear an honorary number 3 on his helmet in memory of his best friend. He kept in touch with Bryce’s mother and moved her, as well as his own family, out of Philadelphia.
Trey was finally living the life he dreamed about. He went pro, met the woman of his dreams and got engaged. His fiance became pregnant with his son. He name him after Bryce. Trey wanted to give back to his school. He started a scholarship foundation, The Bryce Henson Scholarship. It would be awarded to one Student Athlete a year attending Schuylkill University.
Although Michele had pleaded insanity, she was sentence to life in prison with no parole. She continued to write Trey but he never responded to her letters. She had also given birth while in prison. She had hid her pregnancy during the investigation until the day she attended court. She assumed if she showed them that she was pregnant her sentence would be lighter. She wasn’t sure the paternity of her child. She was asked by Bryce’s mother to take a DNA test. The results revealed the father was the Frat who she had slept with the night of Bryce’s murder.
Detective Hart was promoted to Lieutenant. He kept in touch with Trey even after his time at S.U. He attended some of Trey’s games when he has the time. His seats are with Trey’s family in the box seats.
Angel graduated and decided to become an Assistant Coach to Coach Booker at his Alma Mater. He remained good friends with Trey.
