Portals 1: Fallon's Men Page 3

“We always knew our complement would come from another dimension. We just didn’t know which one until Gaia told me the day I opened the Portal to your world.”

  Fallon frowned. “Complement?”

Clearing his throat, Jarek said, “Yes, you are our complement, our mate.”

“Our? You mean you think I am the mate to you both?”

Jarek watched the stunned expression on Fallon’s face give way to a thoughtful look as she considered what he had told her. But he could see she was tired, and no wonder with the stress of the journey and her injuries.

“You are tired and sore. We’ll leave you to sleep for a little while. One of the women will come in later to help you dress for dinner. You’ll feel more able by then.”

Jarek stood up and leaned down to kiss one smooth cheek. He was glad that she didn’t pull away from him; in fact she leaned into his touch, before covering her face with one hand.

Soren did the same on her other side, then took advantage of her startled look to kiss her briefly on the lips before moving away from the bed. “See you later, my mate. Sleep well,” Soren murmured.

As they closed the door behind them, they could hear the rustling noise as Fallon slid down the bed to sleep. Jarek glanced at Soren. “Do you feel like closing the Portal now, love? Or do you want to wait until nightfall?”

“It’s probably better just to get it out of the way. But I thought you wanted me to convert Fallon tonight?”

“I don’t think we should rush her. If we wait and let her get to know us, things might go better.”

Smiling, Soren said, “I think you’re right. She isn’t the sort of woman you can tell what to do. She will accept us in time. We just have to be patient. And to be honest, I think the sooner we close the Portal, the happier I’ll be.”

“I agree with that. Come on, let’s do it now. Better feed first though, and have others standing by this time. Hopefully with the two of us working it won’t take as much energy.”

As the final link to Fallon’s world was closed, Soren slumped down on the ground. How Jarek had opened this himself he didn’t know, because it took both of them at full power to close the damn thing.

“Why was that so difficult, Jarek? I thought the two of us would have managed this without the problems we faced.”

“So did I. I can only imagine that it’s harder to close than open. Why? I don’t know, and to be honest I’m not up to questioning the stones about it now. Maybe tomorrow… if I can get rid of this headache.”

Soren rubbed his forehead, agreeing with his mate that the resulting pain was not all that great. But he couldn’t help feeling pleased now that there was no way Fallon could leave them to return home.

“Do you think we’re being fair, Soren? We’ve made sure Fallon can never return home. At least not directly from our dimension. Was that wise of us?”

“If we hadn’t closed it now, there was the danger of someone else slipping through. You know that’s why the stones told you to close it as soon as she arrived.” He ran his hands through his hair and stood up. Tilting his head back to stretch out his tense shoulder muscles eased some of the discomfort.

“Damn, I need to feed, Soren.”

Agreeing with that sentiment, Soren began walking back to the manor, knowing that their people would have sustenance ready for them. At least they wouldn’t need to drink direct from a donor this night. There were supplements available for them when they used their power. It was only in extreme cases that it was easier for them to drink directly from the source of their nourishment.

Halfway back to their home they saw one of the servant girls rushing towards them with a tray in her hand.

“Nathan must have communicated that we needed sustenance,” Jarek said.

“We need to give him a raise in pay,” Soren said laughingly, knowing that Nathan, the Captain of their Guard, was following a few steps behind them.

“Oh, I can think of something better than a raise, my Lords.” Nathan’s deep voice came over their shoulder.

Soren glanced at Nathan. “And what might that be?”

  “A holiday.”

Laughing, Jarek said, “I’ll think about it, but what would we do without you here to look after us?”

“Rob or Jed can cover for me —”

“I was only teasing; you deserve to get away, Nathan. Where do you wish to travel and when?” asked Jarek.

“I’ll let you know tomorrow,” said Nathan with a big smile on his face.

Soren considered whether to mention something that had been preying on his mind. He communicated silently with Jarek, getting his approval of his idea.

“Nathan, would you consider doing some reconnoitering for us? I know it won’t be much of a holiday, but this is important or we wouldn’t ask.”

“Tell me,” Nathan said, moving beside them.

Soren drank deeply from the proffered beverage then waited until Marissa had left with the empty goblets before continuing. “Our mate said that she had been at the stones with a friend. Now we are concerned that when the Portal opened to bring her to us, it triggered the ones on either side of her. If that was the case, there is a good chance that she ended up in one of the other dimensions.”

“And you want me to go take a look while I’m having a break? But one of them is the home of the Wolves; there is no way we can go directly to them. They would kill me on exiting the Portal without even asking why I was there or who I was.” Nathan rubbed the back of his neck as he spoke.

“We know, and wouldn’t ask this of you if there was a chance that she was safe in her own world. But we don’t know which side Fallon’s friend was standing. It might be that it was the dimension of the Felines. We will ask our complement shortly. In fact, why don’t you join us for dinner; that way you can let her know you will search for her friend? I know it’s imposing on you, Nathan, but this could be important.” Soren hoped that he could convince his Captain to do this for them. It would go a long way to paving the way for their mate’s happiness.

“I know you wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important, Soren. If it turns out that she was standing beside the Portal to the Wolves’ dimension, I can always go to one of the others and enter their dimension via another world. It will be time consuming, but if there is no rush for me to return I’ll do it for you.”

Jarek clasped Nathan’s arm in a warrior’s grasp. When he released him, Soren repeated his actions. They knew that they were asking a lot from their friend, but this was too important to their mate and to them.

Saying goodbye for the moment, Soren walked with Jarek to their room. Having Fallon in the room next to them pulled on their senses. Already they could feel the weaves of their Triad reaching out to her, waiting to join with her for all time.

They heard the muted voices of their mate and some of the household women. Just the sound of her voice drew them to the connecting doorway without realizing they had moved.

Soren shook his head. “This is going to be frustrating until we can claim her. I didn’t remember it being like this before we joined together.”

“It was like this for me. You were still human so you didn’t feel the weaves as strongly as I did. Now that you are as I am, you’re getting the full effects of the weaves.”

“Goddess, Jarek, how did you stand it for five years before you claimed me?”

“You were too young when you first came here. Even when you were made Captain of the Guard at such a young age, I was determined not to claim or convert you until you reached thirty years of age.

“Are you not pleased now that I did wait? You know how intense our joining was. Although I have to admit that the last year when I waited for you was not pleasant.”

Soren reached up and cupped his hand around his mate’s face, before leaning into his hard, muscled body and kissing him. Jarek took control of their kiss, pulling him into his embrace.

Soren ran his hands over Jarek’s stomach, then up t
o rub over his nipples. He pushed the black leather waistcoat off his shoulders and down over his muscled arms.

Tweaking both nipples at the same time, Soren rubbed his lower body against Jarek’s, letting him feel his hard cock.

Jarek repeated his action, but then pulled away. “Unfortunately we can’t do this right now. We have to change for dinner with our complement. Our very first one,” Jarek said, breathing hard.

“I know,” whispered Soren, giving him one last kiss before turning away to take off his clothes.

“Hopefully Fallon will settle in quickly so we can claim her,” Jarek said wryly.

  Chapter Six

Fallon felt so much better when she woke. She had needed the rest to let her body heal from her journey through the Portal. Goddess, how weird did that sound? Traveling through a Portal via one of the standing stones. That is, if those two delicious guys were telling the truth.

Throwing back the cover from the bed, Fallon gingerly got to her feet. Thankfully the pain she had felt earlier in her ribs had lessened. She brushed back her hair from her face, and walked over to the shuttered windows.

Opening one side, she looked outside in amazement. Goddess, they were telling her the truth! The sky was a wonderful shade of lilac and purple; even the grass was a more vivid shade of green than on her own world.

  Where was she?

She caught a quick glimpse of people moving about, but they seemed to be dressed in a more medieval fashion than her own contemporary style of clothing.

The one woman she saw had on a gypsy style top and skirt in a beautiful shade of burgundy. As for the men! Well, she was quite happy to look at them all day in their leather vests with no shirt or top underneath them. She liked how the leather trousers hugged their bums.

Now she felt like a voyeur eyeing these people without their knowledge.

She wondered where her two guys were. Why was she thinking of them as hers? Fallon shook her head; she must have a concussion if she was buying into their startling statement about being her mates.

Hearing the door open quietly, Fallon turned around to see a woman come into the room. The woman smiled and turned around to beckon another female to enter too.

Fallon smiled in return, but she was met with a glare from the second woman. Wonder what’s wrong with Miss Sour? Oh well, it’s her problem.

The first woman said, “I’m glad to see you are recovered, mistress. My name is Marissa and this is Larine. We are here to help you find your way around your room and the manor.”

“Hello, Marissa.” Fallon smiled at the friendly woman, and then turned towards Larine, who stared back with an unfriendly look. “I think you can go. I will only need Marissa for now.”

Fallon deliberately turned her back on the crabby woman. She wasn’t going to put up with an attitude problem after all she had gone through. She waited until she heard the door shut loudly behind her before turning back to Marissa.

“Sorry about that, my Lady. She can be a trifle dour at times. She’s also a bit prudish.”

Fallon looked down at herself; she had forgotten she was standing naked. No wonder the poor woman had glared at her. She was so used to being naked when shifting with her people that she just didn’t think.

“Oh crap. Sorry, Marissa. My people don’t see anything wrong with nudity. I must apologize to her next time I see her.” Fallon looked around for something to cover herself with. “Where are my jeans and jacket?”

“I’m sorry, mistress, but we had to dispose of your clothes. They were cut and torn from your journey through the Portal. But while you were asleep I put some clean clothes in your wardrobe for you.” As she talked Marissa moved to one of the doors along one wall and opened it. Fallon could see an array of clothing similar to what Marissa herself was wearing, but the fabric looked different, more luxurious somehow.

“First though, I am sure you would like to bathe. If you follow me I’ll show you how to use the bathing facilities.”

She opened the adjoining door, and Fallon followed her into a bathroom of the like she had never seen before. Her bathroom at home could fit in here three times over and still be lost.

Fallon gazed in amazement at the pools of water, set on several layers of natural stone. Each layer looked fully functional. Fallon caught the end of Marissa’s explanation about the facilities.

“Sorry Marissa, can you explain again? I’m afraid this room caught my attention and I wasn’t paying attention to what you said,” Fallon said, blushing.

“Oh don’t worry. It’s a wonderful room. I don’t blame you for getting enraptured with it. Each of the pools has a function. The top one is for relaxing, it has the hottest setting. The second is for washing, and you’ll find scrubs and cleanser beside it. And the third is for a final rinse and is the coolest.”

“It looks and sounds fabulous. But what if you just wanted a quick shower? Is there something like that available?”

“The showering facilities are through the door to your right. The two masters will be back soon and they said they would use that tonight to let you soak in the pools. They thought that would be better for you.”

Fallon looked over at the hidden doorway that led to another bathing room. She wondered why she was apparently sharing facilities with the two men. And why had her clothes been cut and torn? She didn’t have any cuts on her body or bruises for that matter; though her ribs had been sore earlier. What had gone on while she was unconscious?

She supposed she was a little late in thinking about these questions, but up till now she hadn’t had time to think! Fallon walked over and put her hand in the hottest pool. “Wow, that is hot.”

“You’ll find it won’t take long to get used to the heat. I will lay out drying cloths and will be next door if you need anything.”

When she finished she walked through the door and closed it behind her, leaving Fallon by herself once more. She didn’t waste time, but walked right into the pool. It was really hotter than she liked, but by the time she had immersed herself she was growing accustomed to the heat.

Marissa was right; the warmth of the water began to loosen her muscles. Aches and pains she hadn’t really thought about started to fade away. It was as though something in the water was healing her. How wonderful.

She lazed around for a little while, but when she heard voices in the next room, she decided she better wash herself quickly.

The temperature in the next pool was cooler, not cold, but after the heat, it was noticeable. She found the cleansing liquid and quickly washed her hair and body, before slipping into the last pool to rinse off.

As she stood up to reach for the towel, the connecting door to the shower room opened. Fallon watched as first Jarek then Soren walked through. The look in their eyes when they saw her wet, naked body caused her nipples to tighten and her skin to feel too tight for her body.

She knew she should grab the towel to cover herself. Never had she been so aware of her nakedness — the fact that her body was so different from a male form. But as she saw the need and want shimmering in their eyes, she felt like a desirable woman.

Stepping out of the pool, she wrapped the towel around herself, before looking at them once more. Goddess, were they handsome! Standing with only little towels tied at their waists, chests glistening with moisture from their shower, they were the embodiment of pure male perfection.

Feeling more secure now that she was covered, she said, “Marissa said you wouldn’t need to use the pool tonight. I won’t be long, then you can have it to yourselves.”

Fallon swallowed past the lump in her throat when Jarek moved closer to her. She caught the scent of aroused male, overlaying his natural musky fragrance, and her body went wild.

That was the only way to explain it. Her nipples, already hard, tightened further. Goosebumps spread over her torso, arms, and legs. Moisture flooded her pussy and trickled down her thigh — moisture not caused by her bath, but by her body’s reaction to seeing the two of them aga
in.

Stepping back, Fallon tried to get her reactions under control, but from the hot, burning gaze Jarek focused on her, that would be a waste of time. He reached out and ran gentle fingers over her cheekbones, then traced her lips, before moving to her neck to bring her towards him.

Fallon’s mouth opened under his gentle assault. He groaned and wrapped his arms around her, deepening the kiss. He loosened the towel and moved it out of his way, exposing her body to his touch. She felt its wet length fall to the ground between them.

She opened her eyes slowly as he pulled back to look at her. His bright green eyes were heavy, slumberous, and sensual with need. Fallon felt she was drowning in them, so deep was his need glowing at her.

Fallon jumped when she felt another pair of hands touch her arm, and she looked up into Soren’s dark blue eyes. Jarek moved slightly to allow Soren to place a gentle kiss on her lips. Fallon could only lean into his touch; she needed to feel his body close to hers.

  What was happening to her?

Further thought vanished as Soren deepened his kiss and Jarek moved behind her. She felt his hands on her breasts, gently but firmly rolling her nipples in time with the thrust of Soren’s tongue in her mouth. Fallon slipped her arms around Soren, her body now pliant with desire. She ran her hands through his damp, blond hair, groaning into his mouth as the hands on her breasts tugged on her nipples.

Soren pulled away and bent his head downwards, licking his way to her breast, swirling his tongue around her distended nipples before taking one peak into his mouth. As Jarek continued to play with her other breast, Fallon could only lean against him, trusting him to support her, to keep her from falling.

Fallon lifted one arm and looped it behind her and around Jarek’s head, touching his thick hair. He kissed the side of her neck, scraping his teeth over her vein, then sucking the skin between his lips. She felt an answering rush of moisture between her legs.

Never had she felt anything as good, as erotic as being made love to by two men.

Fallon felt a flush of coldness go through her body. Why was she letting these men do this to her? She didn’t know them. She didn’t know where she was. And they were the only ones who seemed to have any kind of answers to her questions. She should be asking them, not letting them use her body against her.
