The Girl.

  The Wiley boys stood silently still flushed in the face.

  Dana giggled, as her mom whispered something to her then loudly said, “Hey you, with the short black hair, I’d love to meet maybe talk this out tonight”.

  That was Brenda’s boiling point and she comes down the steps actually.

  Paul Gene shook his head telling the boys, “No just let her go or you all will get decked”. The boys were more shocked then they are and Paul Gene added, “Heck I’ll get slugged too because I’ve seen her bad side”. Smirking with all eyes big, because Dana’s mom was almost flashing them and even blew a kiss directly at Shane and Saul patted his back, whispering, “Gonna hit that?”

  Paul Gene nodded and mumbled, “Oh darn, my boys are going to finish this here fight in a different way”.

  Turning blood red, Shane nervously mumbled, “Woo-wee, maw is gonna knock my lights out”. Their angry maw got up close by Dana with her mom and said, “First keep your eyes off my boys, I am serious about it”.

  Swinging her head, Dana’s mom replied, “It’s a free country here lady”.

  “Yeah bet you’re free”.

  Dana stepped in saying, “Mom she is making fun of you”.

  Her mom replied, “Don’t worry will see who has the last laugh in court”, waving her hand. Looking at the woman up and down, Brenda added, “Why don’t you instead of worrying about court, go get a decent wardrobe, heck cover your darn body up”.

  Dana’s mom put her hands onto her hips and said, “Look who is calling the kettle black, because you need a female wardrobe lady”.

  She and Dana laughed, as Brenda mumbled, “Yeah you sure know about guys clothes you take um off enough”. Dana now gave Brenda a hateful look and Brenda gave her a smirk.

  Her mom pointed saying, “Gee a lady in combat boots”, as her and Dana laughed. Snarling, “Boys cover your ears”, yelled Brenda.

  “NOW!” Pointed at her four boys and huffed very angrily.

  The boys all made a snarling face too and Paul Gene said, “Cover um a second only, heck don’t get her more ticked off”.

  Therefore, all did and soon as Brenda noticed, the four boys covered them. With such a cocky attitude said, “Lady I’ll show you why I wear boots, bend over, I’m sure it is your specialty!”

  Hand against her hip, Dana’s mom replied, “How dare you, talk to me like that you don’t know what I do for a living”.

  Dana was really making a face at Brenda that smirks saying, “Well from the looks of you, I guessed your profession, a true lady of the night”.

  Paul Gene now wanted to cover his ears as this was getting ugly and the boys holding their ears were still looking on smirking.

  Pulling Dana’s arm her mom said, “Come on dear we will get our baby girl back, don’t need to get cut down from this woman”.

  “Yeah go the truth hurts, get the heck off my property”.

  Dana huffed and her mom made such a mean looking face and as Brenda went to walk away just waving her hand in the air.

  Turning around facing the house Brenda noticed Paul Gene shaking his head, as his eyes got huge along with the boys.

  Noticing her family’s eyes about to pop out of their head, Brenda mumbled, “What did the tramp pull the paper towel off her chest?” Suddenly, Dana’s mom grabbed Brenda’s long braid of hair yanking her back. Brenda spun around quickly and popped Dana’s mom right in her face, as Dana’s mom fell to the ground instantly.

  Brushing her hands, “The lord will thank me for doing a good deed”, said Brenda walking back towards the porch when Dana’s infuriated mom comes back at Brenda full force lunging her down, as they rolled at it.

  Brenda’s once frozen and ear holding boys all yelled,

  “JAB MAW!”

  Watching in amazement the two mothers fight with fist even and it got bad.

  The hair that was pulled and falling on the ground rolling, jerking each other’s head. Those two mothers fought rough, throwing his hands up Paul Gene said, “Break this up now boys”.

  All headed off the porch fast and Paul Gene grabbed onto Seth saying, “Nah, you stay put”. “Okay paw”, and watched one ugly fight between women.

  Saul and Shane with Sebastian rushed up to the wrestling mothers.

  Immediately, Shane grabbed onto Dana’s mom pulling her off from his maw, which took his two brothers to hold their maw back?

  Calmly now, gazing up at Shane, she smiled saying, “My strong hands, a real cowboy you must be”, and holding her tightly, he grinned, she added, “My names Jolene honey”. Shane blushed, but glanced over at his scary maw now. Seth up on the porch asked, “Hey paw?”

  “Ah huh boy”

  “Has maw ever been bitten by a wolf?”

  Grinning Paul Gene replied, “Heck no boy”, as Seth shook his head in disbelief and said, “Seems it though, because maws sure giving Sebastian one heck of a struggle”.

  Although, Saul and Sebastian were having much trouble with their maw, as she was irate. They held their mother tight with her yelling, “Oh let me at the tramp”. Saul was pulling at his difficult maw and Sebastian tugged at the other side when she was actually pulling them and Saul yelled, “ENOUGH”.

  Sebastian holding with all his might said, “Shoot maw, stop your language already, you never cuss, it’s forbidden”.

  Fuming inside Brenda struggling with her boys spoke a few more choice words. Saul could not help to chuckle at her and said, “Heck, maw just used every cuss word in the forbidden dictionary”.

  “Yeah it took eighteen years to finally hear her”, remarked Sebastian holding his mother, as

  Shane still had a firm grip on Dana’s quiet mom Jolene that stared at him and whispered giving him her address, he whispered back, “Hey lady keep it down, because maw the bull will crush my bones”.

  “Did you get the place cowboy?” Shane blushed again.

  She was looking at him waiting for a response and he added, “Yeah I sure did, but if that raging bull gets a drift of it, forget this cowboy ever riding”.

  Jolene smiled and Shane looked feverish, finally Brenda had been calming down until she noticed Dana’s mom all mushy over Shane and his brothers noticed giving a smirk. Noticing Shane grinning and staring at her tattoos or something else that hung out right upon his face.

  Brenda literally saw the boiling point and her boy drooling ready to be breast fed again at twenty.

  Screamed, “That’s it let me at the tramp!”

  Saul really had to hold with all his might tightly, then yelled, “Dana please just leave”. Swinging her hips walking away Dana replied, “See you all in court real soon”.

  Gripping firmly his fighting mad maw answered back, “Fine girl, we will be glad to see you in

  court because Samantha is never leaving”.

  Sebastian wiping his head and holding his maw with the other hand added, “Yeah that’s right

  Samantha is a Wiley”.

  Dana’s mom looked at Shane saying, “You maybe a Wiley, but a true cowboy too”. Brenda struggled her hardest to get loose from her two boys at this point, as she saw her boy all feverish looking.

  Walking down the lawn, Dana said, “Come on mom”.

  “Okay dear”, and smiling at Shane who let her go from his arms and she touched his face, quietly saying, “I’ll show you more of this woman tonight, around 8:00 pm so get ready to ride cowboy”.

  Shane just grinned blushing badly, as he looked like he had heat stroke and actually started fanning himself with his hand mumbling, “Woe summers hot”.

  Walking down the long driveway with her mom, Dana yelled back, “Hey Seth I’m getting our kid back, tell her your goodbyes”.

  Paul Gene gave him a serious look and Seth stood calmly not responding when Dana and her mom were out of site they all headed into the house. Saul was real close to his maw that said, “Please get off my back boy, what are you a caboose”. Shaking his hand out, Sebastian chuckles and went inside.

  Brenda sat
down by the kitchen table and looked at Seth standing by the refrigerator hanging his mop of curls.

  Silently Sebastian stood next to him, as Saul was over by the sink rolling his eyes. At Shane bending over the sink putting water on his blood red face saying, “Aw much better”. Brenda had tears saying, “These low down people how they choose to live wrong, want to take our little girl from us”.

  Quietly, Paul Gene was getting ice out of the freezer for his wife’s big shiner. He reached it to her and said, “Brenda put this on your black eye so it don’t swell more”. Therefore, held it up to her eye and yelled, “Seth why!”

  He just kept his head down and she added, “Oh I need a cigarette now, because these tramps are going to rip my heart out”.

  The boys remained silent and their paw too, as Brenda kept swinging her hands up mumbling, “This is such bull”. Silent and trying not to look at Brenda that was very irate holding ice against her face then said, “Paul Gene call your brother Danny Ray, because we got court coming up for the Wiley’s”. “Done Brenda”.

  “We need the right connections” added Brenda and held the ice against her eye.

  Shane had a kitchen towel wrapped around his head and stood silently listening. Pointing at Seth and upset Brenda said, “Boy let me even suspect you went to see that girl to

  rekindle old times, aw heck I brought you in this world, lord I’ll take you out fast”.

  “I understand maw, I’m sorry”.

  “Nah you will be if you sneak to see dirt, because I’ll neuter you boy”.

  Suddenly, Shane threw the towel off his head, instantly dropped his head back into the sink, as

  his three brothers rolled their eyes at him.

  Holding the ice to her face asked, “Shane boy are you sick?”

  With his head under the spraying facet, answered blowing bubbles actually, “Nah maw, just a hot summer day is all”.

  Brenda put her one hand up and said, “Last thing I’m going to say about this situation”, as they all listened, but it sounded like Shane was drowning.

  “Missy will beat me to it boy if you mess with that road side”.

  Seth kept his head down as those curls hide him good.

  Brenda rave on pointing at him and said, “Lord boy just try to be sneaky, because a lie catches up with you”. Seth’s head remained down along with his other two brothers.

  Except for Shane now who was really coughing under the water heavily pouring on his head

  and bubbles blew in a gasping row.

  Pointing to the sink now, Brenda remarked, “Lord somebody help the poor boys drowning”. Everyone now looked on when Saul pulled Shane out from under the heavy water and said, “Heck, your hairs clean enough”.

  Holding a new dishtowel against his face, “Aw thanks brother, for a minute I felt trapped on the titanic”, replied Shane coughing. Leaning against the counter, Saul whispered, “Man what’s wrong with you?” Drying his soaked head, Shane said, “Can’t speak, it’s deadly in here at the moment”, and he pointed at their maw.

  Saul smirked at his dripping wet brother that said, “Aw if maw hears wind of it, I’d rather go down on the titanic”.

  Seth whispered, “Hey Sebastian what’s roadside mean?”

  “To maw it means hookers standing on the corner near the side of the road”. “Ah, okay”, and they both stayed silent.

  Therefore, Brenda got up from the chair walking out of the kitchen sobbing and went into her bedroom and pulled out many candles from the closet.

  Line them all up on her dresser and lit each candle she knelt down in front of the dresser with burning candles.

  Then folded her hands, hung her head, and started to pray, Paul Gene snuck quietly peeking into their room.

  Making sure she was all right as he saw her praying and turned around heading back to the kitchen.

  Dry completely now, Shane asked, “Paw is maw okay?”

  Grinning Paul Gene replied, “Yeah after her ritual of prayer for forgiveness, you know her beliefs”. The boys smile and Shane said, “Well I got to shower”. “Aw the sink wasn’t enough”, said Sebastian splashing water at Shane Everyone laughed except Shane that got up from the chair hurrying off into the laundry room hunting for a clean t-shirt.

  Saul comes walking in and asked, “Woe, hot date there brother?”

  “Hottest”. Wiggling his eyebrows. Grabbed a clean shirt and walked out of the kitchen area, sitting by the table feeding Samantha that fussed in the highchair, Seth hollered, “Hey aren’t you gonna eat dinner Shane?” “Nah, I’ll grab a fast burger on the road”.

  Saul chuckles telling Sebastian, “Man it must be a boiling date if he don’t eat”. “Yeah a definite first, shoot not the last with him”, snarled Sebastian.

  Shane’s mother would really light more candles and pray all night long if she knew what her boy was up to. Later that Sunday evening things calmed down and Brenda mostly, she even sat in Seth’s room listening to him read Samantha a children’s book.

  Paul Gene had called his brother Danny Ray and informed him of the Wiley’s troubles.

  Saul was out some place and Shane definitely, as Sebastian was sitting in the living room watching television. He was not out, as him and Mandy actually had a huge fight breaking it off again. Watching some television to Ella kept complaining of her back and looking Sebastian asked, “Hey you gonna be okay?”

  Nodded holding her back, as he seem to become panicky and asked, “Ella the baby’s okay, right?” “Yes Sebastian, thanks”, and he smiled when she got up from the chair holding her back heading to the bedroom.

  Walking into the living room, as Brenda noticed Ella not looking to well, and asked, “Hey Sebastian boy, is Ella all right?”

  Staring at the television he just shrugged his shoulders and Brenda waved her hand mumbling, “Oh lord his pouting face is back”.

  Paul Gene was sitting by the big desk in the dining room going over bills.

  Brenda walked by him waving her hand again saying, “Aw he don’t hear anyhow or know everything”.

  Therefore, went doing laundry off the kitchen in the side laundry room, because during the week it gets far behind, as she is too busy.

  From doing choirs all day and working the bar at night until 2:00 am six nights a week were hectic and Sunday really was their only break.

  Sebastian got up from the sofa and was in the bathroom now filling up a hot water bag. A few seconds later rapping on Ella’s door quietly, she said, “Its open!” Walking in, as she lay across the bed still holding her back and he comes closer then reached it to Ella that smiled.

  “Aw thought you could use this”, and she took it placing it right against her back, as he smiled.

  Feeling warmth that relieved the pain, Ella looking at him, said, “Feels nice, thanks a lot Sebastian”, and his heart pounded, he replied, “Not a problem”, then walked out fast. Stood a moment outside her closed door leaning back against the wall breathing heavily. Ella in her bed pulled her blue jogging pants down a bit and placed the very warm water bag snug to her back.

  All of a sudden, Brenda screamed, “OH LORD NO!”

  Paul Gene threw his bills on the floor, as he heard Brenda scream and Sebastian runs fast into the kitchen after hearing his mother scream.

  She was bended over the kitchen sink crying and splashing water all to her faint face, mumbling, “Let me drown Lord, because my boys with them nasty females, oh take me”. Paul Gene with Sebastian looked at Saul and Shane both hanging their guilty heads.

  Furthermore, noticed their necks covered in big bright red love bites along with scratches. Brenda was literally heaving and rushed out of the kitchen, heading to the bathroom gagging,, as Paul Gene gave his two boys such a frightening look and curled his fist. He said, “Sebastian scram now, go do anything, just get out of here”.

  That Wiley boy took off fast.

  The other two Wiley boys really hung their heads like the cat who swallowed the canary. Paul Gene looked more a
t their bitten up necks from those two females that are suing them for custody and Paul Gene, saw red more than Brenda over his boy’s despicable acts. In the bathroom Brenda holding a wet washcloth up to her face when Ella comes into the bathroom and saw Brenda crying.

  Brenda put the washrag down quickly and said, “Hey darling, how you feeling?”

  Raising her bright red eyebrows, “Maybe I should ask you that”, replied Ella. Brenda at that point after such a crazy shocking day which keeps getting more weird was about to lose it.

  “No girl, I am perfect”, Giggling.

  Ella thought sure you are, then said, “I’ll let you alone, I am thirsty”.

  She went to turn around and leave, instantly throwing the washrag, Brenda loudly said, “KITCHEN NO!” Grabbing onto Ella who said, “Gee Brenda, guess it has been a hot day”. “Yeah it has been hotter than you’ll ever know or I want you too”.

  “I would like some apple juice, it’s good vitamins for my condition”.

  Brenda gives such a sad look at what her boy has done and the poor girl cannot even get a drink. Still holding onto Ella looking sad, Brenda blurted out, “Oh darling there are two big rats in the kitchen right as we speak”.

  Ella’s eyes become huge and replied, “Their diseased”.

  “Well hopefully these rats were smart, playing it safe”.

  Ella rolled her eyes thinking, poor Brenda got heat stroke, because she is worried about rodents.

  “Brenda rats are bad animals”.

  Shaking her head almost off, she replied, “Yeah wild creatures too”.

  Ella felt like the one that needed the washcloth and Brenda added, “Nah their really nasty critters is a better word for those two”, she held up two fingers mumbling, “Oh both at the same time?”

  Ella shrugged saying, “Yuck they do bite”, two is worse than one, it’s a losing struggle”. Speedily , Brenda grabbed the washcloth back off the floor putting it up to her whole face saying, “Oh I bet it was no struggle, just right to the punch line, those rats, ew!”

  “Gee poor Brenda is cracking up over rats”.

  Soaked the washcloth Brenda instantly held it back up to her beat red face. Looking at Brenda ready to collapse, Ella mumbled, “I’m getting confused here”. Brenda over heard her and thought, Ella girl you would really say yuck if you knew what I did
