We pulled up to the estate and I almost gasped at the size of it. It was a massive house, a mansion, and the land around it was beautifully trimmed and in good order. The house looked newer and had the architecture of an artist; it was all angles, with huge floor-to-ceiling windows that revealed a large, well-lit kitchen inside. I followed Gina to the front door and waited nervously for someone to answer when she knocked. She had a key but thought it best to wait, and I was glad we didn’t just barge into the house to surprise her mother.
A maid answered the door, dressed typically in black and white. She greeted Gina with a hug and, to my surprise, pulled me into an embrace as well. It boded well for my visit there—I hoped her parents were, if not as friendly, at least fractionally so. We chatted with the maid until a woman who looked like Gina swept into the room. She was blonde, too, and taller than her daughter. Straight-backed and beautiful, she looked at us both sternly, her eyes sweeping over me. The corners of her lips turned down in an almost imperceptible frown while she looked at me, and I felt myself blushing despite my resolve to not let her get to me if things went sour. Gina greeted her mother with a kiss on the cheek and then turned to me.
“Mother, this is Alana. Alana, my mother, Eve.”
I reached my hand out to shake hers but she didn’t take it, instead looking at me with a look of disdain so pure it almost hurt to look at. I knew that I flinched because Gina looked at me with a frown. My eyes found hers and pleaded with her to get me out of there somehow, but I knew that there was no way for her to do so. I’d have to get through this dinner by any means necessary, no matter how bad it was. And it looked like it was going to go sour already—Eve was staring at me as if I was a worm, something lower than dirt. There was no way she would ever approve of my being with her precious daughter. I sighed inwardly and, resigned, looked away from Gina. I squared my shoulders and made unflinching eye contact with her mother, who sniffed when she saw that I wasn’t going to simply cringe away again.
When we were finished with the introductions, we went into the dining room, where there was a large table that could have seated at least twelve for a dinner party or a gathering. We sat at one end of the table while Eve went into the kitchen to call for the cook to bring our food out for us. Everything was so lavish, the idea of a cook and a maid so opulent that it made me desperately uncomfortable. I hated the thought of anybody working for me personally and wondered whether or not that was something that Gina would want in her life. She had probably grown accustomed to having help around the house and would want that around when she started a family. The thought made me tired; I didn’t want to think about that. I had imagined our future already, what it might look like, the two of us in my small apartment, spending our days cooking and making love and watching the sun come up through the little bedroom window. I knew it was probably unrealistic but it was a dream, nonetheless, one that might be spoiled if Gina had higher expectations than what I could afford her.
Gina took my hand while her mother was gone and squeezed it.
“Are you okay?” she said quietly. I swallowed and nodded, not wanting her to be alarmed at the way things were going. There was no sense in upsetting her.
Eve came back to the table with the cook at her heels. After we were served, she looked at me, half-sneering.
“So what is it you do, Alana?” she asked, the coldness in her voice masked by a feigned curiosity.
“I’m a waitress,” I told her. “At a club.”
“I see,” she said, and shot a look at Gina, who blushed. I felt terrible thinking she was embarrassed of me, that I should have made something up. Anything. I cursed myself for being honest. I could have told her that I did something bigger at the club, that I was more important than a simple waitress. Instead, I’d told her the truth and opened myself—and Gina—up for ridicule.
“And how did you meet my daughter?” Eve asked snidely.
“I went to the club with CJ, mother,” said Gina, interrupting what I was about to say. “We met there one night and hit it off.”
“Hit it off,” repeated Eve. “How romantic.”
I looked down at my plate, hoping the two of them would carry the conversation, hoping to god she wouldn’t ask any more questions. But she did.
“Tell me, do you have any aspirations other than being a waitress at some dirty bar?”
“Mother,” said Gina warningly, but I put my hand up to stop her.
“I want to open a restaurant,” I told her, trying to keep my voice calm. I was going to try my best not to let her get to me. I had been looked down upon for my family’s money situation before so this was nothing new, just a different situation than I had ever been in.
“With my daughter’s money, I suppose.”
I stood up. That was the last straw for me. The implication that I would ever use Gina for her money was deeply insulting.
“I have no desire to be insulted,” I said coldly. “If you’ll excuse me.”
I walked out of the room. Gina followed me, put her hand on my arm before I could leave.
“Alana, I’m so sorry,” she said, but I shrugged her off. I was too angry for her apologies. Angry at her mother, angry at her for bringing me here when she knew what type of person her mother was, how terrible she would be to me.
She stared at me when I pulled away from her touch, her eyes almost spilling over with tears.
“Congratulations,” I hissed. “At the fun you’ve had at my expense. I hope this has been a good time for you.”
“It’s not like that,” she pleaded. “Please stay. I’ll talk to her.”
“No, Gina. Get off of me. I’m leaving.”
And with that, I left her there in the foyer.
Chapter 5: Gina
I stood there watching her leave as my mother moved to my side.
“You’d be better off if you just made up with CJ,” she said in a low, haughty voice. I wanted to slap her. I turned on her angrily, barely controlling my rage.
“CJ cheated on me in a crowded bar,” I hissed. “He pushed me down onto the floor when I found out. He never treated me well, mother. Never.”
She stared at me but only shook her head, a stern look on her face. “That girl has nothing to offer you but burden. You’ll end up taking care of her for the rest of your lives. A waitress,” she spat. “At least CJ has money and a good family standing. Where’d you get that girl from, anyway?”
“CJ has family money,” I said. “He’s made nothing of his life. Alana works hard. She has dreams and goals. And she loves me.”
“She loves you because of what you can do for her,” my mother said. I shook my head at her numbly.
“She loves me because of who I am. CJ would never. Is that the life you want for me?”
My mother turned away without an answer, apparently done with the conversation. I stormed out of the house and slammed the door behind me, then got into my car and pulled away from the curb. I had to find Alana, had to explain to her that my mother’s opinions had nothing to do with me. That I loved her more than anything, that she was the only person I wanted to be with. CJ didn’t matter. Nobody else mattered but Alana and her beauty, her smile and her laughter. And the way she kissed me, as if I was as precious to her as she was to me.
I showed up at her apartment and knocked on the door. I knew she was home because her car was parked out front. When she didn’t answer, I slid down the wall opposite her door and sat on the floor, my head buried in my hands.
“Excuse me?” came a small voice from above me. I looked up to see a little girl, probably seven or eight, watching me with big brown eyes. “Can I braid your hair? It’s so pretty.”
I nodded, scooting forward so that she could stand behind me. She began to run her fingers through my long blonde strands, her delicate movements sending shivers down my back.
“You’re so pretty,” the little girl said. “Like a princess.”
I sighed. “There’s more to life than just being prett
y.”
“Like what?” asked the little girl.
“Like being brave and strong and sure of who you are,” I said. “Being able to stand up for yourself, being smart. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re only pretty.”
The little girl finished braiding my hair and looked at my head with self-satisfaction, then looked at my face and smiled.
“I’m brave,” she said. “I’m not supposed to talk to strangers but I’m not scared of you.”
I laughed. “You probably shouldn’t talk to strangers at all, sweetie. Now go on home to your mom. She’s probably wondering where you are.”
“Okay,” said the little girl brightly. “Bye!”
She ran off down the hall. I sat there and waited. For what, I didn’t know. I stared at Alana’s door with frustration until it opened and she looked down at me. I stood up.
“I’m so sorry, Alana, my mother—“
She reached forward to touch her fingers to my lips, then fingered the braid that was draped over my shoulder.
“It’s enough that you came back,” she said softly. “I’m sorry I left.”
“Stop,” I said, pressing my mouth to hers, kissing her gently. “No apologies.”
She smiled against my lips and kissed me back, her tongue slipping into my mouth. Her kiss was passionate and full of hope, as if she wasn’t sure whether or not my mother had affected my feelings for her. She hadn’t, and I wanted Alana to know that. I gently pushed her inside and closed the door behind us. We kissed as we made our way to her bedroom and undressed each other as we went. By the time we made it there, I was standing in front of her in my panties and she was completely naked. I looked over her body, so perfect, and lowered my head to take one of her nipples into my mouth. I teased it with my tongue, sucking on her breast, my hand reaching to cup the other one so that I could touch both of her nipples at the same time. Her eyes were on my face as I licked and sucked at the tender buds, a warm look of satisfaction and pleasure in her eyes.
I dropped to my knees then, placed a kiss on the outside of her mound, which was swollen and glistening wet. I gently spread her legs apart and began to lick her outer lips, cleaning up all of the juice there that she had leaked while we were kissing. I made her sit on the edge of the bed so that I could settle with my face between her legs, then ran the flat of my tongue from the bottom to the top of her slit. I parted her folds with the tip of my tongue to touch the inner lips of her mound, licked them deliciously while my hands and fingers stroked the insides of her thighs. Her breathing was quick and ragged, her hands gentle in my hair, but I wanted to make her pull on me harder, wanted to make her lose control. I lapped at her bud with the tip of my tongue, vibrating against it, running it in circles around the swollen nub so that each and every angle could be satisfied. I found a spot I knew drove her particularly wild and teased it with my tongue until she was moaning and whimpering, her legs spread wide, hands on the back of my head to hold me close. When I moved my tongue from her sweet spot she gave a sigh of frustration, knowing that I wasn’t going to let her come just yet. I wanted to spend as much time as I could between her legs, licking her pretty flower. I didn’t want her to be finished, so I took my time, teased her until her legs were shaking. Then I returned to that spot again when I was ready and began to lap at it slowly, tantalizingly.
“You’re driving me crazy,” she breathed, her hips humping against my face, her mound a warm, stimulated pink. I slipped two fingers inside of her channel and pumped them in and out while she moaned and moaned for me, her inner muscles clenching around my knuckles as if to pull me deeper inside of her. I licked her gently for a bit, letting her orgasm build, and then unleashed the full power of my mouth on her, sucking on her bud until she came all over my fingers and my face with a cry of pleasure. I kept on going through her orgasm and stopped only when she backed away from the intense pleasure that I was giving her, trying to catch her breath.
“Come here,” she said after a moment, and I climbed on top of her, devouring her mouth with my own. She spread her legs and put her hands to my ass, pulling my hips down so that our mounds were pressed together, hot and wet against each other. It was my favorite position and she knew it. I began to ride against her so that our buds were slipping past each other, both of us equally stimulated by my movements. Our folds pressed together, the rubbing sensation of her bud against mine made me moan out loud with pleasure, made me kiss her while I humped back and forth, sliding my sex against hers. I had grown to like using toys with her but this nakedness, our bare skin against each other, was what I craved the most. I held her thighs apart and slipped against her, my climax building deep within my gut. I wanted to come but I wanted her on top when I did, wanted to feel the more expert movement of her hips against mine before I released. It would be more pleasurable that way, hotter. So I flipped us both over and she understood immediately what to do. She smiled at me, almost purring, kissed my neck as she positioned her mound against mine and began to grind against me. She took my hands and pinned them above my head as she did so. It was a show of dominance that drove me wild, made me lift my hips against hers in a way that was going to make us both come if we kept at it. Instead, she pulled her hips away, reaching between us to rub my bud in circles with her fingertips. Then she crawled down my body, unable to help herself.
“I need to taste you,” she said softly, looking up into my eyes with a grin. “Now.”
“Please,” I said, and her smile widened before she kissed my folds as she would my mouth, first with her lips, then dipping her tongue inside of me and teasing the opening of my channel with the tip of it. She slid it inside as far as it would go and curled it upward, gently hitting the spot within me that would drive me most crazy if she kept going. Her upper lip caressed my bud while she made love to me with her tongue. Her warm breath on my mound, the feeling of her inside of me and the way my bud felt when I grinded my hips against her face were overwhelming, and I came on her tongue within moments, bucking my hips against her face.
She took a few more moments to lap at me while my body calmed down, careful not to put too much pressure on my throbbing, raw bud. When she was finished, she climbed back up my body and flipped me onto my side so that we were facing each other. Her smile was addictive, her lips even more so. I kissed her softly, then again.
“I love you so much,” I said. “I don’t think I’ve ever loved anyone this much.”
“I love you too, Gina,” she said, taking my mouth with hers, slipping her tongue between my lips to deepen our kiss. When she pulled back, she was staring at me, her eyes soft and filled with emotion.
“Do you think I have a pretty face?” I asked her, reaching forward to stroke her cheek. She gave a soft laugh and kissed my forehead.
“That, and so much more,” she said, and then we fell asleep together, happy.

sp; “Well, at least your dorm is close to the library.”
Kate's father frowned, as he glanced around the courtyard, surveying the buildings and structures around him. Then he said, more to himself than to anyone else, “Yes, this will do fine.”
“It's great!” Kate exclaimed. “Wasn't my dorm gorgeous! So many colleges have such small bedrooms, but the doubles here are huge!”
Kate's mother pursed her lips.
“Speaking of doubles, I do wish that you would consider switching to a single.”
Kate rolled her eyes.
“Mom, we already talked about this. Part of going to college is meeting new people. I want to make friends, and my roommate seems so nice.”
Kate grinned, thinking of the spunky, wild-haired young woman that had greeted them, as Kate and her parents had brought Kate's bags into the top-floor bedroom. The girl's eyes had flashed brilliantly, and she had grinned with a coy little mouth. She had thrown smiles their way, before there had been any reason to.
