She would, too, but it couldn’t be helped. ‘There are lots of new women for you to get to know,’ she said, trying to lighten his mood.
‘I won’t get near any of them for weeks,’ he grumbled.
‘Maybe we’ll fly away and find some more before then.’
His face lightened and he kissed her again. ‘Maybe we will, at that.’
‘We need thirty-five women, at least.’
‘That would be one each.’ Goril looked as if he could hardly imagine such riches.
‘And I would be yours.’ She put her fingertips to his cheek.
Understanding dawned in his eyes, and a look of elation spread across his face. ‘That’s what I want, too,’ he said softly, and bent his head to seal his declaration with a kiss so tender that her eyes filled and her heart melted. She slid her arms around his broad shoulders as she returned his kiss with all her love for him, holding him close, determined to do whatever it took to make the bond between them complete.
