Pity that Frank Whittle never had his birthday present though,’ Franz muttered, thoughtfully. ‘Who knows how things might have turned out?’

‘The important thing is that your Grandson is alive. That’s all that matters,’ his wife reminded him.

‘See I told you there is nothing wrong with my memory,’ the old man added, rerunning the news clip again.

‘So why didn’t you buy me flowers for our anniversary then?’ his wife demanded. ‘Don’t you dare say you forgot, Franz Schmidt.’

  Post Script

Fortunately the bomb had not done any damage to its original target. For having lain dormant for many decades, it had slumbered too long. Thankfully, although it failed to disrupt the development of the jet engine, the original bombing mission however had the effect of waking up the planners to disperse the development of the engine to other sites. In addition it speeded up the pace of development and use in the Gloster Meteor aircraft.

The Meteor was used to intercept and disrupt the fast V2 rockets by flying alongside and using their wing tips to knock them off course. Credit must go to the incredible skill and bravery of the RAF pilots who undertook these dangerous missions.

Today’s easy global travel owes a lot to the pioneering efforts of Frank Whittle and his team of developers.

Fact Footnote: On 1 June 2010, a World War II-era British bomb exploded in Göttingen Germany while disposal teams were seeking to disarm it. The 500 kg (1,102 lb) bomb was found by construction workers building a new sports arena. The bomb was the second found in a week; the first having been disposed of safely. Three people were killed and six injured in the blast.

  Godsons – Counting Sunsets

Godsons – Counting Sunsets is a heartening story, charting the stubbornness of the human spirit to let the precious gift of life slip away without a fight to the bitter end.

Multimillionaire Geoffery Foster has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and has irrationally swapped his luxurious Monaco penthouse for a single room in a Cotswolds hospice in Gloucestershire England.

Determined to maximise his remaining days and impressed by the selfless humanity shown by his hospice nurse, Andy Spider, Geoffery decides to redress his neglected Godfather responsibilities.

Together Andy and Geoffery embark on a journey to track down and improve the lot of Geoffery’s three Godsons.

But will resolving the problems of childhood Meningitis amputee Tim, the alcoholic ‘drop out’ James and the abused husband Rupert, be too much for Geoffery’s frail health.

Added to his challenges, a drunken and intimate wedding reception encounter with a former girlfriend comes back to haunt Geoffery as he also gambles with his life in the hands of a woman spurned.

Counting Sunsets becomes the abacus on which Geoffery records his remaining days.

Proving, ‘It’s never too late to be who you could have been.’ George Elliot.

  The Godsons Legacy

Andy Spider continues to be the glue that cements the three Godsons together as they expectantly await the release of their legacy from Geoffery Foster’s will.

But surely even this pillar of society will be distracted from his task when tempted by the radiant beauty of Nadine. Mesmerised by the exotic Monaco nightlife, his stoic resolve is weakened by lack of sleep and too much alcohol.

Pallbearers wearing Basques, Murder, Blackmail, Fear, Lust, a Motorway Crash, a runaway teenager and Police Investigations are the unexpected consequences of Geoffery’s legacy as he still controls their lives FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE.

The story is set in Gloucestershire England, near the beautiful Cotswold Hills

  The Godsons Inheritance

The three Godsons have to work harmoniously to place the final piece in the inheritance puzzle for the release of their legacy.

But the wayward Tim makes it a challenging exercise. His self-centred, bloody-minded arrogance means the whole intricate web of relationships is jeopardised. Will his heart bring him back in line or will he still be ruled by his head?

Meanwhile Rupert is continually in fear of his vicious megalomaniacal wife; James is clinging on to life desperate for a liver transplant.

Young army veteran Carrie is haunted by the trauma of active service.

Ben a young carer for his alcoholic Mother inadvertently opens up old wounds by looking for his father. Can fellow young carer Janie help or hinder Ben’s traumatic life?

Andy is having a bad time in his personal life, haunted by a late night indiscretion and frustrated by having to coordinate the activities of the three Godsons.

The story comes to a dramatic and exciting conclusion, but is it the end? In this the third book in the Godsons series.
