He chuckled beneath her ear. “Perhaps someday we’ll return to showcase our sculptures.”
“Our sculptures?”
“Mm-hmm,” he murmured as he tipped her chin up to take her lips with his in a soft, but possessive kiss. “An artist is nothing without his subject. And you, my love, will always be the subject of my work.”

Epilogue
Christmas 1870, Boston
“Stunning,” the man on his left said.
“So sensual, yet elegant,” the older woman agreed beside him. “How ever did you capture the essence of the nymph and her mate, Mr. Barclay?”
Michael reached forward, taking the woman’s arthritic hand and slid it over the stone—down the back of the nymph, over her rounded derriere to the tops of her thighs—remembering the hours he’d spent carving the stone he and Bella had hauled out of the river that day years earlier.
“Simple, Mrs. Jones. She was always there. I could see her in my mind and knew just how she looked. I listened to her and unlocked her passion. She did the rest.”
“Oh, my,” the art patroness said. The air around her stirred, the rustle of her hand fan fluttering quickly.
Michael smiled and released her hand, leaving it on the stone at the junction of the nymph and her lover’s bodies for her to continue to explore the piece. Using the cane to tap out a path, he moved in the direction of his wife’s voice as she talked with her father. Stepping up behind her, he slid his hand around her hip to her rounded belly where their child grew.
“Hello, love,” he whispered into her hair then planted a kiss on her head, just above her ear.
“What did you say to Mrs. Jones to have her blushing like a schoolgirl?” Bella asked with a laugh in her voice.
“I simply explained my process of unlocking the subject from the stone. She seems to have found a passion for such pieces.”
“Such a salesman, you are. Too bad that piece isn’t for sale,” Bella’s father said.
“It might be the cornerstone for the exhibition, Richard, but it’s the centerpiece to our lives together. It will always remain in the family.” He smiled down at his wife and could feel her smile in return.
“I always knew you had skill as a painter,” Richard Taylor continued, “but I never knew how deep your talent ran. The sculptures you’ve exhibited here today will set the art world on its ear, young man. I couldn’t be more proud of you.”
“Thank you, sir, but I couldn’t have done it without your daughter’s help.” He pulled her closer, smiling down at her. “Without Bella’s touch I never would’ve found my passion.”

Amazing Story! Five Stars
"This story is one of the better books that I have read in awhile. The interaction between Jake and Sami are electrifying without being outwardly mushy. The plot and interactions molded so well. I will be buying other stories from this author. I found the three main characters and their back-stories both heartbreaking and touching. I highly recommend this story! You won't be disappointed." - Amazon reader (Pennsylvania)
