“I can’t believe you went away and got someone pregnant,” Smokey states. “I mean, what are those odds?”

“The fucking condom had a tear apparently,” I say. Although if I’m being honest with myself, the thought of her belly filled with our baby is not unappealing in the least.

“We keep this up and we won’t have to put out the word for prospects,” Smokey says. “We’ll have our own moving up the ranks as they get older.”

“I see a possible ball team in the future,” Chef says. We all laugh at the comment.

“What does your girl do for a living?” Twisted asks me.

“She has her license to do hair in Montana. Gonna have to see what it’ll take for us to get a salon going and for her to get her license here.”

“A salon? Yeah, I need my extensions redone,” Bandit states.

“Fucker. She’s good, really good, and you know y’alls women have to drive nearly an hour away to get theirs done. Could be a good moneymaker for the club.”

“We’ll look into it, Law,” Axe states. “Now, can we talk about this shit? Y’all are horrible sometimes. It’s like having a room full of cranky toddlers or something.” Yeah, he would know about that, having twins and the two older kids.

“Okay, we’ve got evidence of corruption in a bunch of places,” Chief says. “My first instinct is to make copies and forward them to the appropriate district attorneys. What do you think, Law?”

“The information may not be admissible, but it couldn’t hurt to try.”

“It would give them something to start an investigation, wouldn’t it?” Twisted asks.

“Yeah, maybe so. Let’s see what Bandit pulls that we can add to it.”

“Do you really think a salon would work here?” Capone asks. “Bridget is trying to find something she can do besides work at the truck stop. If we had a salon, maybe she could go back to school. She needs something to help build her up.”

“That would be a good idea, think she’d go for it?” I ask.

“I think so,” he replies, “she needs something to make her feel fulfilled.”

I know he’s interested in her but she’s been kind of standoffish. She can’t believe that a man like him would want her with all she’s done. I know from what I’ve heard that she’s been in therapy and I can only hope it helps. That was a fucked-up situation and she needs to forgive herself and move on. Capone’s a good man with his own past. If he can help her unpack all her baggage, I think he’ll have a shot.

“Law, you check into the local real estate and see if there’s anything we can buy to convert into a salon,” Axe commands. “All the businesses are in the green, so we’re good to get it bankrolled for renovations and shit. Now, when do we wanna go take care of Cassarah’s shit in Montana?” he asks.

“The sooner the better, I want her settled here and helping with Emma. Gonna need the doctor information for her, too,” I say. “Can you have one of your old ladies give her that?”

“You get married and she’ll have insurance, brother,” Bandit states.

“Yeah...gonna work on that one,” I reply. I think I’ve got an uphill battle with my girl. She’s not gonna believe that I want that with her and will twist it that I feel an obligation. Of course I feel obligated, but not for the reasons she thinks. I love her, more than words can say.

“How’s the soccer season going, Twisted?” Smokey asks.

“The kids are all doing well. It’s been a lot of fun,” Twisted replies.

“Holy hell in a handbasket! Can we keep on track?” Axe asks.

“I feel like we’re old biddies,” Smokey says. “That sounds like something your woman would say, not you.”

“Watch it, wait until you’re a dad, you’ll start watching what you’re saying too,” Axe all but growls out.

“Not happening anytime soon, brother. I like it with just us and our girl right now,” Bandit states adamantly.

“Well, the rest of y’all are handling that anyhow. By the time we have kids, we’ll have built-in babysitters,” Smokey adds.

“Like Nan will let that happen,” Twisted states. “She’s made herself the surrogate grandma of all the kids.”

“Okay...here’s what we’re going to do,” Axe states, “Bandit is gonna check on that shit further and see if we can find anything else to pass on to the appropriate authorities. Chief is going to be checking into his own department. We need to figure out how high up this actually goes. We’ll go up to Montana next weekend. That should give all of us enough time to make sure we have folks to cover things around here. Law, you check into the salon shit. Anything else?”

After a few more murmurs from the rest of the guys, we start shaking our heads no. “Then this meeting is adjourned.”

We walk out of the room and I see Cassarah passed out on the couch with Emma in her arms. The girls look up at me and DJ puts her finger to her mouth. “She needs to rest. Nan’s already started dinner.” I walk over and give them both kisses on top of their heads then go to the bar to grab a beer. I begin thinking of how exactly I can convince her to marry me, and tie her to me and the club, forever.

Hearing a noise at the door, I look over to see the older kids running through. Well, Talon and Claree aren’t running, but the younger ones are acting like they’ve had a bunch of sugar or something. “C’mon, y’all. Let’s go burn off some of that energy,” Nan states. “First, though, a snack.” She’s all about making sure they get their snacks, that’s for damn sure. I look around and see how much the clubhouse has changed since we first started the club and grin. Nan has completely redone several of the rooms and we now have a media room for movie days, plus a helluva playground out back.

Throughout all of this, Emma and Cassarah stay asleep, letting me know exactly how tired she is from the day’s events. She’s both emotionally and physically drained. I watch as DJ grabs a blanket from the back of the couch and covers my girls up. Family, this is what family is about, we may not carry each other’s blood in our veins, but we have each other's hearts and loyalty. “Thanks, DJ,” I say.

“Any time, Law. She’s ours now and we’re keeping her. We’re keeping both of them and we’ll make sure nothing touches them.”

“Okay, She-Ra, come and have a beer with me,” Hatch says, coming over and pulling her close. I don’t know her story but based on how fiercely she protects the women and kids and how hands-on she is with everything, I think it was a rough start. Finishing my beer, I grab another as I think about how different she is now from the first time she came to the clubhouse.

  “Law?” Capone asks.

  “Yeah, man.”

“Listen, I’m glad to help you with grabbing information for the salon. I really think it could help Bridget a lot.”

“She doing okay with her therapy?”

“I think so. There’ve been a few times she’s had me in there with her and it’s been hard as hell to hear what she endured. I wonder if she does it to try and put me off from her. It won’t work, though. I don’t give a flying fuck how long it takes, she’s gonna be mine.” Well, alrighty then. I nod and grab him a beer while I watch my girls sleep.

  Cassarah

“Buttercup? Need to wake up, baby. It’s time to eat,” Law whispers. I open my eyes and see his beautiful face staring down at me. I can’t read the look he’s giving me, so I smile.

  “Sorry I fell asleep.”

“It’s okay. We all know you’re exhausted. Once we’re done eating, I’m taking you and Emma home and you’re going to relax.”

“Mmm...sounds good, I could sleep a few more hours. I’m always so damn tired these days,” I say, as he lifts Emma from my arms so I can get up.

“I’m here now, buttercup. You’ll get your rest,” he tells me.

As we walk out to the back where all the food is set up, my mouth drops. Jeez, these women don’t mess around! Braxton, as Cara calls him, is manning the grill, with DJ’s husband standing there and giving him shit. Such a norma
l activity, one I’ve never really seen before. I think I’m gonna like it here.

“Do you have a doctor, honey?” Trinity asks.

“Uh, no, not here I don’t.”

“I’ll get you the information for mine. She’s really good.”

“You’ve got a female doctor?” I ask her.

“Look around, honey, at these men. Do you really think they want another man looking at our hoo-has?”

Hearing her say that has me giggling. “What’s so funny?” Cara asks, coming over from the table.

“Trinity said y’all have female doctors because of the men.”

“Lord yes, let me tell you something, they’re all good men, really good men. But, they’re alphas and the thought of another man looking, much less having their hands in that vicinity, isn’t gonna happen. They’d piss around us to mark us if they thought it would work.”

By now, I’m laughing so hard that tears are flowing. Elijah’s voice at my ear asking, “Are you okay?” has me nodding.

“Thank you,” I tell him, cupping his jaw.

  “For what, buttercup?”

“For giving me something I’ve never ever had. A family and friends.”

“Baby, you ain’t seen nothing yet,” he promises. “Now c’mon, I need to feed my girls and my baby.” Sigh. When he says stuff like that, I wanna melt into a puddle of goo.

  “Elijah?”

  “Yeah, buttercup?”

I lean up so no one else can hear me and whisper, “I love you.”

“Cassarah, I love you, too,” he replies before taking my lips in a kiss that holds so much promise.

The night was fun even with everything that was weighing on my shoulders. I need to give my sister a funeral, make sure Emma is receiving the best care possible and get all of my things packed up and moved. The thought is overwhelming but exhilarating at the same time.

“Let’s get her down for the night,” he says. Because of her casts, he carries her into the bathroom and with a lot of plastic wrappings, we manage to give her a bath. Now all sweet-smelling and sleepy, she’s curled up on the most awesome bed I’ve ever seen for a child.

“Read, Auntie Cassie?” she asks me.

I pick up a book that’s on the nightstand and start reading about princesses and knights in shining armor. My knight rides a Harley and I’m perfectly fine with that. I don’t get far when I notice she’s asleep, so I kiss her then leave the room in search of Elijah.

“In here, buttercup,” he calls out. I walk towards his voice and into the biggest master bedroom I’ve ever seen. He takes me by the hand and leads me into the bathroom where he’s already drawn a bath.

“Wow!” I say taking it all in. It’s not only my dream home on the outside but the inside as well. I’m kinda shy when he starts undressing me because things have...changed since we last saw one another. I’ve got the beginning of a baby bump and my boobs are ridiculously huge. Well, huge for me compared to the normal, and they’re so freaking sensitive. I can touch my nipples and nearly shoot off like a rocket.

“Gorgeous, buttercup. Love the changes,” he says, lightly running his hands down my shoulders until he’s cupping my baby bump. He leans in and gently kisses it and my heart melts seeing this big, badass man, doing something so...gentle and loving. He leads me to the tub and motions for me to get in, then he undresses and climbs in behind me. As I slide into the warm water, my body relaxes and I lean back into him. He wraps his arms around me and we just sit there enjoying each other quietly. I feel like I need a reality check, because things like this don’t happen to me. Never have, and I’m silently waiting for the other shoe to drop.

He leans me forward and pulls my head back. He has a cup that he puts water in and pours it down my head. I close my eyes and let him take care of me. I hear him pop the cap and feel him run the shampoo down my hair and he massages my scalp.

  “Mmm...that feels really good.”

“There’s more to come,” he tells me. He washes, rinses, and then conditions it. He lets the conditioner sit in my hair as he grabs a washrag and lathers it up with soap. My things aren’t unpacked as of yet, so he’s using his soap, meaning I’m going to smell like him. He washes what he can reach while I’m sitting. He taps my leg to indicate he wants me to sit up on my knees. I lean up and nearly come on the spot when he begins to wash my hoo-ha.

“Fuck,” I say, as I begin to shake.

“Sensitive, baby?” he asks, continuing his ministrations.

“Hell yeah, seems like the slightest thing makes me horny these days.”

“Let’s see what we can do about that,” he says, rinsing my body. He holds his dick up and says, “Ride me, buttercup.” I happily comply with his demand and slowly lower myself on him.

The warm water adds a sensation that is extremely pleasant and I find myself moving faster and faster.

He leans in and captures one of my nipples in his mouth, causing me to moan. “Damn, Elijah, that feels so fucking good,” I tell him, grasping him around his neck. He doesn’t say anything, just uses his lips and tongue on first one, then the other, nipple until both are swollen and distended. When he grabs my hips, he starts pumping up as I’m moving down and the friction has me ready to come in a matter of minutes. “So close,” I tell him, swiveling my hips every time I slide down his dick.

“Come for me, buttercup,” he commands, moving one of his hands so he’s stroking my clit. Two strokes later and I’m crying out his name, my head flung back as the spasms take over and I milk him for all I’m worth. Since I’m pregnant, he didn’t bother with a condom and fucking hell, the feel of all of him buried deep inside, skin on skin, takes my orgasm to a whole new level. “God, Cassarah!” he yells out as he thrusts upward. I can feel him coming and the throb sets me off again.

Long moments later, I lean in and kiss him, saying, “Thank you for the welcome.”

He starts laughing and says, “That’s just the beginning tonight, buttercup.” Oh my, I fan myself with my hand...holy fuck me! If this is only the beginning, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the night entails.

  Chapter Eight

  Law

She looks peaceful there sleeping on the bed. Her hair is spread out over her pillow and I swear she looks like an angel. I can hear Emma playing in her bed so I head out of the room and go to get her ready to face the day, I want my girl to get as much sleep as she needs. I get her up and take her to the restroom, I’m feeling a little more comfortable with her on the potty this morning than I was the day before. I don’t know if it’s because of Cassarah being around, or if it’s because I woke up a very happy man. Regardless, I’ll take care of them both until I draw my last breath, as well as the baby she’s carrying. I wish my granny and pop were still alive because they’d love her and they’d love Emma. “Cakes, Lah!” Emma says.

I shake my head no, saying, “We can’t eat pancakes every day, love bug. It’s not good for you. Let’s get some oatmeal and fruit.”

“Fruit!” she hollers out, causing me to laugh, because this little love bug of mine does love her fruit. I get her settled in her seat, grab some fruit from the fridge, rinse it, and cut up the strawberries. I pull down a banana and cut it up so she’s getting a variety. I look down at the bowl to see what I’ve put in there, I see not only the strawberries and bananas, but I’ve added grapes and blueberries. I grab some yogurt to go along with it, I think I’ve got this parenting shit down. She’s four so she feeds herself, and with her arm in a cast she has a hard time spooning or forking her meals.

“Let me help you, Emma,” I tell her, grabbing a spoon and giving her some of her yogurt. The smile she gives me melts something deep inside of me and I find myself chuckling at her antics. I honestly never thought I would have children of my own for the simple fact that I was with Ava. She never had any interest in having children, I think it was more of a vanity thing with her not wanting to get fat and exhibit any stretch marks on her body. Now, I’ve got Cassarah carrying my ch
ild, and since she’s Emma’s closest next of kin, I have Emma as well. Because I’m pretty sure once we file the appropriate paperwork, guardianship will revert to Cassarah and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I just hope the senator is caught before he has a chance to stall the proceedings by throwing money at one person or another. Then I remember his money is frozen, so unless he has someone who is willing to pay for him, he may very well be screwed. This thought makes me smile because I hope it’s the case. Who would foot the bill for someone whose funds are frozen? I need Bandit to watch his accounts in case someone tries to access them.

“Why didn’t you wake me up?” I hear my woman ask as she walks into the kitchen joining us.

“You looked so peaceful I didn’t have the heart to wake you.”

“That’s so sweet, thank you for always putting me and my needs first, but honestly you don’t have to. She’s my niece and I have no issues taking care of her.”

“You’re not alone, and the sooner you get that through your head the better,” I sternly remind her. How much clearer can I get?

“I know, it’s just that I feel like I should be caring for her, I’m the only family she has left.”

“Let’s table this conversation for later, because I don’t want Emma to hear what I have to say.”

“Okay. Um, Elijah? I need...I need to find a job if I’m moving here.”

“No you don’t, at least not for a while. Anyhow, we’ve got something to do today and I think it’ll answer that question for you. Why don’t you eat and we’ll drive around town?”

I’ve been googling places and have four that are downtown I want to check into. One used to be a salon so that would be perfect, but it’s been empty for about a year or so and will likely need major renovations. She nods and fixes herself a bowl of fruit and yogurt. “Is that enough for you?” I ask.
