“You’re not corporeal, Marie. How exactly would this have worked?”
“Love finds a way, dear.”
I flung my arm over my eyes hoping she would take the hint and go away. “Don’t the angels have any control over you? Isn’t there a heavenly curfew or something? Marie, it’s way too late for this. You need to give me some privacy.”
“I give you plenty of privacy when you’re playing with your kitty cat.”
I growled and moved my arm to glare at her. “Stop calling Griffin that. He’s the head of the US shifter contingent, not my kitty cat.”
Marie’s eyes twinkled. “Whatever you say, dear. Where has he been lately, by the way?”
“In Europe meeting with international shifter leaders.”
“Why didn’t you go with him?”
“Because it would have been boring and they sure wouldn’t have let me attend the meeting.”
“Right, we don’t need you causing any international incidents.”
“Funny.”
Marie giggled. “I am, aren’t I? Now let me try out some of these jokes.”
My phone rang, thank God, and I made a grab for it not checking to see who it was. Even if it was a telemarketer I was happy for the save. “Sorry, but I have to get this. Hello.”
“Kyle, are you still up?”
I glared at Marie some more and she smiled back at me. “Yes, Misha, I’m awake. What’s up?”
“Just got a call from the PD. Priority. The captain wants to meet with us, in person.”
I sat up. “Shit, that can’t be a good sign. Do you have any idea what’s going on?”
“No, little one. Jean Luc and I will be there in five minutes.”
“I’ll be ready.”
I flung back the comforter and scrambled out of bed. “I’ve got a call, Marie. Some supe messed up and as usual we’ve got to cover it up. Can’t talk anymore about Jean Luc. Now go away so that I can get dressed.”
“Kyle, sweetie, we have the same lady parts.”
“Marie!”
She chuckled and faded away. I dressed quickly in jeans and a turtleneck. I pulled on thick socks and one of my boots before hopping on one foot out into my hall while I yanked on the other one. Then I hopped right through Marie who was floating in front of me. Icy pinpricks skittered over my skin.
“Holy crap! I thought you left.” I frowned. “Are you haunting me? Do I need to burn something of yours to set you free?”
“What in the world are you talking about?”
“Well, unless you’re tied to me for some strange reason, I can’t figure out why you would spend your undead days in Cleveland, Ohio.”
Marie smiled. “It’s not the place that attracts me, dear. It’s the people. Now your teammate, Misha, is a Shamat demon right?”
Warning bells sounded in my head. “Yes.”
“Is he single?”
“We are so not going there.”
“Russians are a very passionate people.”
I shuddered. “It’s official. I’m going to need therapy.”
Tires squealed outside and I ran over to my window and looked down at the street below. The team van sat in front of my apartment building, smoke still rising from the tire burns on the street. One of these days, my neighbors were going to call the cops on Jean Luc. “See you later!”
I grabbed my coat, hustled down the stairs, and hopped into the back of the van. “Thank God for late night calls.”
Jean Luc peeled away from the curb. “Rough night, ma petite?”
“You could say that.”

Mind Sweeper
Mind Sweeper Series Book One
An angel, a demon and a vampire walk into a bar. Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but it’s just another day in the life of Kyle McKinley.
Kyle was born with the ability to erase memories, and the inability to keep her opinions to herself. She and her teammates—a vampire who looks like a sexy pirate with fangs, and a Shamat demon with a penchant for Italian pastries—provide supernatural damage control when humans see too much. Today’s problem? A sword-wielding angel and a demon had a supernatural smackdown during happy hour in a Cleveland bar, leaving behind a headless vampire and a dozen human witnesses.
This latest supernatural slip-up is attracting all kinds of attention. So much attention that the police step in, and Kyle has to deal with Joe Dalton, a know-it-all human with the sexiest turquoise eyes she has ever seen. Kyle has no room in her life for yet another human who will treat her like a freak. However, Dalton definitely makes her naughty parts sit up and take notice, and it’s more than mutual. But before they can act on their attraction, they must join forces to solve a dangerous puzzle. And when they uncover the truth, the apocalyptic ripple effect forces Kyle to make a choice. Learn to trust again, or risk losing everyone she cares about, including Dalton.

The Fledgling – A Novella
Mind Sweeper Series Book Two
A Mind Sweeper novella that peeks into Jean Luc Delacroix’s past. He has lived for centuries as a vampire, but the 1980’s may be his biggest challenge yet. How does a nearly four-hundred-year-old vampire survive a decade of shoulder pads, big hair, and music videos? Simple. Concentrate on his job.
Jean Luc and his demon partner, Misha, work for the Bureau of Supernatural Relations. Their task: keep humans from finding out about the supernatural. Not a simple thing to do when dead bodies keep turning up with their throats ripped out. So the team’s first priority is to stop a supernatural serial killer from striking again. The only problem is the beautiful bounty hunter who keeps interfering with the investigation.
Talia Walker is a bounty hunter who also happens to be a newly turned vampire. She deliberately avoids other supernaturals and knows nothing of what being a vampire truly means. Her job: find a murderer and bring him to justice. The problem is she has never dealt with a supernatural bounty before…or an overbearing, ridiculously sexy vampire.
When Jean Luc and Talia butt heads over the investigation, only Misha can see that their animosity has more to do with attraction than anger. And unless Jean Luc and Talia can set aside their troubled pasts and learn to trust each other, they may never have an opportunity to explore their true feelings. Especially when they come face to face with the killer.
The Fledgling is available now for Kindle.
Shifter Wars
Mind Sweeper Series Book Three
Why did the demon cross the road? Apparently to escape from Kyle McKinley. Which is more than fine with her.
The last thing she wants is to be dragged into another supernatural crisis, but the Fates have something more interesting in store for her. Since the tricky wenches love to mess with people, Kyle isn’t really surprised. And once she learns Trina, the young shifter girl whose memory she erased, is being stalked again, Kyle will do whatever it takes to protect her.
Normally a secretive group, the shifters reluctantly agree to allow Kyle and her vampire and demon teammates to investigate. Are the poachers who kidnapped Trina back for revenge? But when other shifters are also targeted, Kyle becomes convinced there is more to the attacks than vengeance. And when the violence escalates and Griffin, the enigmatic leader of the shifters, ends up in the crosshairs, the team braces for a bloodbath.
Scrambling to identify the mysterious group bent on destroying the shifters, and why, Kyle is also haunted by dreams and painful flashes from the prophesied Key of Knowledge which has taken up residence in her brain. In typical Kyle fashion, she decides to ignore it, but the more she ignores it, the more it digs its claws into her consciousness. If she can’t learn to embrace the Key and ask for help from those closest to her, she could lose her sanity before she’s able to prevent a shifter civil war.

Author’s Note
When I wrote about how Jean Luc and Talia met in The F
ledgling, many of you asked why they were no longer together and if their story would have a continuation. Hah! I would never leave you in suspense—for very long that is. I knew when I wrote The Fledgling there would be more coming for them in the future. After all, we (you the reader, me the author, and Misha, of course) have known from their first encounter that Jean Luc and Talia are perfect for each other.
Acknowledgments
Of course I have people to thank for making this book what it is today. To Gabrielle, my cover artist who gave me a cover with a guy on it this time! And it is a great guy, which was an accomplishment in itself since Jean Luc is, well, Jean Luc.
Thanks to Faith who, as usual, made this book even better. Thanks for being as OCD in editing as I am in writing!
To Amy who has been so much more than a formatter to me. Thanks for answering all my questions and teaching me about self-publishing.
Another big thank you to my friend Lara who once again gave me suggestions that made the characters stronger. I may have unleashed a monster in you, but it is productive monster, so I’m very happy.
And to my poet friend Ruth who, like The Fledgling, came up with the title of this work as well. I may have to put you on retainer!
AE Jones
Growing up a TV junkie, award winning author AE Jones oftentimes rewrote endings of episodes in her head when she didn’t like the outcome. She immersed herself in sci-fi and soap operas. But when Buffy hit the little screen, she knew her true love was paranormal. Now she spends her nights weaving stories about all variation of supernatural—their angst and their humor. After all, life is about both…whether you sport fangs or not.
AE lives in Ohio with her eclectic family and friends who in no way resemble any characters in her books. Honest. Now her two cats are another story altogether.
