by Liz Fielding

“Crack out the cola, chips and cookies, Fredrik. It’s my birthday and I’m going to be a countess. We need to party.”

Later, lying together in the darkness of their tent, he said, “Any thoughts on a wedding? Is the village green calling you?”

“I think the village has had enough fun and I never did have the alpine meadow picnic promised by Prince Carlos.”

“If that’s what you want, my darling. That’s what you’ll have.”

She turned to him. “All I want is you, Fredrik.”

“I’m yours, my love.” He took the hand bearing his ring and raised it to his lips. “I’m yours, you are mine and tonight the stars will be shining just a little brighter on our mountain.”

“Ours?” Ally smiled and reached for his hand. “That’s the most beautiful word in the entire world.”
