“Man, Slim’s sister isn’t still a baby. She a grown ass woman that makes her own decisions. If that bitch was younger than me then I would’ve never started fucking with her ass,” Ray’Shun informed her.
“But I’m younger than you, Ray’Shun. What’s the difference?” Trinity just wasn’t getting his point and it was starting to piss him off more.
Ray’Shun sighed heavily as he let his window down. Sparking up the blunt that was resting behind his ear, he inhaled the smoke before releasing it slowly. The strong purp caused him to choke.
“Fuck!” he said. Once his breathing was under control he looked over at Trinity. “You ain’t my homeboy’s lil sister, either. That’s the damn difference! You missing the bigger picture of the whole situation.”
“And what’s that Ray’Shun? Tell me what the bigger picture is,” Trinity wanted to know. Sitting with her arms folded, she waited on him to reply.
“The same mothafucka that serves me and sits and smile in my gotdamn face, been out here fucking my little sister. That’s the damn biggest picture of it all. And I don’t know who the hell got Destiny pregnant but once I find out, they ass getting fucked up too.”
Trinity couldn’t say anything because he was right. Kush was wrong for that. How could you look in this man’s face while serving him drugs and you’re smashing his fifteen-year-old sister. Yes, Kush was dead wrong for that.

Ronny walked into his bar and grill with Shaniyah trailing behind. The music was blasting and though it was a weekday, people were all over the place. Shaniyah smiled as she bobbed her head to the beat of the music. The few times she’d been there with her parents, it was earlier in the day and it wasn’t nearly as jumping as it is now.
“Come on lil girl,” Ronny said as he was about to head to the back.
“Dad, can I stay right here?” asked Shaniyah. She was enjoying seeing the people grinding all over each other on the dance floor. Had she not been with Ronny, her little ass would’ve been out there as well. Of course not grinding on anyone, but simply showing off her skills. She was Shaniqua’s daughter, so of course she took after her with the dancing.
It was crazy because, she took after Shaniqua with the dancing, Destiny had Ronny’s singing voice, and Ray’Shun took after Ronny’s smoking habit. At the young age of eleven, Ni-Ni could sing and dance, whenever her parents weren’t around; and it was too soon to know what talent little RJ had picked up.
“No! Now bring yo’ ass on!” Ronny shot her ass down quick before heading to the back where the kitchen was located. Shaniyah sucked her teeth but not loud enough for Ronny to hear. She wasn’t that crazy. “You want something to eat?” Ronny asked once they were inside the kitchen.
Shaking her head, no, Shaniyah went and sat in an empty chair that was across the room. She watched her dad as he made his rounds, checking and talking to everyone. He was just smiling and chatting as if he didn’t have drama at his house.
“Hey Ron. I thought that was you walking back here a few minutes ago,” Alesha ran her hand down Ronny’s arm and said. Ronny gave a one-sided smile as he took a step back. Though Alesha had touched him innocently before, that particular time made him a bit uncomfortable because his daughter was there.
Ronny knew she didn’t mean anything by it, but he didn’t want it to be any misunderstandings.
“What’s up Lesh? Yea, I had to come back here and make sure everything was good before I headed up to my office,” he explained.
“Oh, you already knew I had everything covered. You didn’t even have to come check,” she laughed before poking out her chest. Running her index finger over her huge breasts in an ‘S’ shape, she said, “This ‘S’ on my chest isn’t for nothing. Just call me superwoman.”
Ronny looked at her invisible ‘S’ that she’d marked on her breasts as if it was visible. He would be lying if he said her breasts wasn’t sitting up pretty, in the tight tank top she was wearing. Licking his lips, he looked away before laughing.
“Yo’ ass crazy.” He then looked over at Shaniyah. She seemed to be in her own world as she stared at one of the cooks. Ronny breathed a sigh of relief when he noticed she wasn’t looking at them. Her little ass was nosy, so he was surprised she didn’t see that. “Aight, Miss Superwoman. It’s good to know you can handle everything.”
“Of course I can, and don’t think I didn’t see those eyes of yours, mister,” Alesha laughed as she adjusted the front of her tank top, trying to hide her cleavage. “So how long are you planning on being here? Until we close?”
Ronny shook his head and looked at his watch.
“Hell naw. I have my daughter so I’m about to get out of here in a minute.” He looked over at Shaniyah, and this time, those grey eyes was looking dead at him. He smiled and winked at her. She smiled and waved shyly. That girl loved her damn daddy and vice versa.
“Oh, you got lil mama with you. How could I have missed that cutie?!” Alesha smiled and waved at Shaniyah. Shaniyah turned her head so fast as if she didn’t see that damn girl waving at her. “Niyah! Niyah! Niyah!” Alesha got louder each time she called Shaniyah’s name. It was no secret that Shaniyah was ignoring her, but since it seemed Alesha wasn’t going to quit yelling her name until she answered, Shaniyah finally looked over where she stood.
Once again, Alesha waved while smiling from ear to ear. “Hey, mama,” she said to Shaniyah. Being Shaniqua’s child, Shaniyah had picked up on some of her rude habits. She didn’t even crack a smile as she threw her hand in the air and waved Alesha off.
“Damn.” The word slipped out of Ronny’s mouth with a chuckle before he knew it. He had to turn his head to keep from bursting out with laughter. He was going to beat Shaniyah’s ass with that rude shit she did.
Humph. What I do to her? Alesha wondered. Shaniyah had never did no shit like that to her before. She always would speak whenever she came there with Shaniqua or Ronny, so for her to be rude with her then, was confusing.
“She might be ready to go home. Her impatient ass doesn’t like to sit in one spot for too long,” Ronny tried to justify Shaniyah’s action. He knew that wasn’t the case but he didn’t want Alesha to think his kids didn’t have no damn home training.
“Oh okay. I was a little confused because I know I haven’t done anything wrong,” she laughed, thinking that was the case. After all, Ronny knew his kids way better than she did. “Well let me get back out there to the floor. Go ahead and take lil mama home to get some rest. It is a school night, you know.” With that, Alesha walked off.
Once Ronny made a pit stop to his office to check a few things, he was out the door. On the ride home, Shaniyah had fallen asleep. It was about ten minutes before twelve when he pulled into his driveway. Getting out, he went around and grabbed his daughter then headed up to the front door. When he took his baby girl to her room and put her in bed, he headed to hop in the shower.
Hearing her husband walk in, Shaniqua continued to lay there with her eyes closed. She was still laying in the same spot he threw her on the bed. She’d cried herself to sleep and had no idea on what time it was or whether her other kids were asleep or what.
When Ronny walked into the bathroom and slammed the door shut, that was when she finally got up and headed to check on her other kids. RJ was asleep in Ray’Shun’s bed while Ray’Shun talked on the phone. She didn’t say anything as she stuck her head in there then shut the door back. Ni-Ni was in her own bed and so was Destiny. Going into Shaniyah’s room, she saw she was tucked underneath the cover nice and neatly.
That was so unlike her because that girl slept wild and hated to be underneath the covers. Walking over to her, Shaniqua kissed her forehead and shook her head. Where did I go wrong with my baby? she questioned herself.
Going back into her room, she stripped out of her clothes and threw on her robe. Since the shower was on, in the master bedroom, she headed to the hall bathroom, which was Ni-Ni and RJ’s. All Shaniqua wanted to do was shower and go back to sleep.
She wanted to continue to sleep until this whole nightmare was over with. No one couldn’t tell her that tonight’s events weren’t a bad dream.
Twenty minutes later, Shaniqua was walking back into her bedroom. The lights were all turned off and the only lighting that lit the room was from outside, and it wasn’t too much of anything.
“Shit,” Shaniqua cursed as she bumped into the dresser. She didn’t know why Ronny’s crazy ass turned off the bathroom and bedroom light. Flicking the light on, Ronny was in bed with his back turned to the side she slept on. Slipping on what she was going to sleep in, Shaniqua then eased in bed with her husband. She figured since he was sleeping in bed and not in his man cave, he was over being mad at her. “Baby,” Shaniqua said as she ran her hands over his back and his shoulders.
Ronny shrugged her off him and slid to the edge of the bed. “Don’t touch me,” he said calmly.
A tear dropped from Shaniqua’s right eye before she knew it. Sighing heavily, she just turned her back to him and cried herself to sleep.
Chapter 4
“Did you make that appointment like I told you to?” Ronny asked Shaniqua once she walked back into the room from getting the kids off to school. She started not to even answer his ass because last night when she wanted to apologize for the foul shit she said, he didn’t want to hear it. Now he was asking her some bullshit about a gotdamn abortion.
“No,” she simply answered nonchalantly. Getting back in bed, she laid down and turned her back to Ronny. He was sitting up on his side smoking a blunt.
“And why the hell not? I told yo’ ass to call last night and make that shit. I don’t know what kind of slick shit you trying to do, but Destiny ain’t having that mothafuckin’ baby and I mean that shit,” Ronny yelled out to Shaniqua’s back. He was talking loudly as if she wasn’t lying right there beside him.
“Where the fuck was I gon’ call at some mothafuckin’ nine o’clock at night dumb ass? You so mothafuckin’ smart you would know that ain’t no place open that time of night.”
“Well call that shit now! Matter of fact, call the same mothafucka that did yours. I’m pretty sure you still got the damn number.” When Ronny said that, Shaniqua jumped up to meet his murderous light green eyes staring at her.
“Really Ronny? All that wasn’t even called for.” Her feelings were beyond hurt.
“Oh yeah? And all the shit you spit last night was?” Ronny begun getting off the bed. He walked over to his large walk-in closet and slipped on a pair of grey sweats, a black wife beater and his black high-top Forces.
When he walked out fully dressed, Shaniqua wanted to question where he was going but didn’t. She just continued to stare at him through narrowed eyes, huffing and puffing. When he grabbed his keys off the nightstand and his hat off the dresser, he turned it backwards and finally looked at Shaniqua.
“Call and make that fucking appointment, now!” He walked out the room and slammed the door before she could even respond. She yelled his name but he kept right on walking down the hall like he didn’t even hear her.
“Ray’Shun!” Ronny yelled out when he walked into Ray’Shun’s room. Ray’Shun stirred but didn’t get up. “Ray’Shun. Getcho ass up!”
“What? Where we going?” Slowly, Ray’Shun sat up in bed. He wiped the sleep from his eyes and stretched and yawned.
“We about to take a ride somewhere. Let’s go.” Ronny hit the wall twice before walking out, only to bump into Shaniqua in the hallway. “Damn, move,” he said.
“Where in the hell y’all going? You need to be staying here calling and making that appointment you want that girl to have.” Shaniqua stood there with her arms folded. Ronny tried to walk around her but she stepped in front of him, blocking his path.
“Move girl,” was all he said as he slightly pushed her out the way. Being the dramatic queen that she was, Shaniqua fell against the wall with a yell.
“Ouch Ronny.” Jumping up, she took off behind him down the stairs. “Where you going?” she jumped in his face.
“Shaniqua, move! Why the fuck you starting shit? Damn, all I did was ask you to call and make the gotdamn appointment and you acting like a bitch about it. You know that damn girl ain’t ready for no fucking baby. Hell, she still a baby her damn self!”
“You’re right, and since you want her to have a fucking abortion so damn bad then you call and make the shit. I know what yo’ ass trying to do.” She looked at him with a scowl. Ronny looked at her confusedly because he didn’t know what she was talking about. “Always trying to make me look like the bad guy. Every time one of the kids does something, you come to me. You always do that shit, but not this time. You said last night that you were calling all the shots on this one and I had no say so. Well call them! Go ahead and call and make the appointment.”
Shaniqua didn’t mean anything she was saying, and though this was the time she should’ve been trying to kiss up to Ronny about the harsh things she said to him, she just had to throw that up in his face. He was the one that said she didn’t have a say so in the situation.
Ronny ran his right hand down his face before shaking his head. Shaniqua was really pissing him off with her childishness, but he really needed her to make that abortion happen for him. “Look, man. You gon’ do it or what? You her mama so you should want the best for her. You know damn well Destiny is too gotdamn young to be somebody mama. That girl ain’t ready for that shit,” Ronny stated calmly.
Ronny really hated that she was pregnant because he was against abortions. It was just, he knew Destiny wasn’t ready for motherhood. She’s only thirteen for Christ’s sake. What was she going to do with a baby? Hell, he wasn’t even ready to be a damn grandfather to anyone. Shaniqua knew what Ronny was saying was true, but she wanted him to seriously think about it. At least sit down and talk to Destiny about it before he just up and made her do it.
With a heavy sigh, Shaniqua ran her hands through her hair. Destiny was still a baby, so what if her body couldn’t handle the abortion. Like, what if something went wrong and she couldn’t have kids when she got older and married. That was something that Ronny needed to think about. But he was so hell bent on her having an abortion that he didn’t want to think about the, what if’s.
“I don’t know Ronny,” she said as tears rolled down her cheeks. Shaniqua was in an awkward position. She was thinking about all the possibilities and the what if’s. On the other hand, Destiny is Ronny’s daughter so at the end of the day, he had the final say so.
“She ain’t ready Shan and you know it. Destiny ain’t even fourteen so how in the fuck can she care for a damn baby?”
Closing her eyes, Shaniqua sniffed the snot that was running down her nose. She was crying for many reasons. She felt sorry for Destiny and the father of her unborn, she didn’t want to stand there arguing with her husband over what was the right thing to do, but most of all, Shaniqua cried for Destiny. She was the one that was going to have to live with this. She’s a child that made a mistake. Punish her for the rest of her life, anything; just don’t make her have an abortion.
“Okay.” Shaniqua nodded her head up and down. “I’ll call and set up the appointment.”
Ronny just stood there and stared at her with a blank expression. He heard the hurt in his wife’s voice but most of all, it was written on her face. That caused his heart to ache. Ronny hated seeing Shaniqua upset and crying, but it was something that needed to be done. He could see if Destiny was eighteen. Hell, even seventeen or sixteen. That was young and he would no doubt be upset, but she’s only thirteen. That shit had him ready to fuck up the whole world.
“Yo’ Pops, I’m ready.” The sound of Ray’Shun’s voice brought Ronny out of his thoughts. Turning to look at his son only to return his gaze to Shaniqua, Ronny nodded his head up and down. “Aye, what’s up Ma,” said Ray’Shun as he walked over and kissed her cheek. He looked from her to his dad then asked what was wrong.
Ray’Shun didn’t get into his parents’ business, but he didn’
t like seeing his mother in tears either. Wiping her tears away, Shaniqua shook her head.
“Good morning baby. I’m fine,” she tried convincing him.
“Here,” Ronny tossed his keys to Ray’Shun. “Go start up my car for me. I’ll be out there in a second. Let me finish talking to your mama right quick,” he instructed. Giving his mother one final look, Ray’Shun did as he was told.
Though he heard the little scuffle of Shaniqua falling into the wall dramatically, Ray’Shun knew his father wouldn’t hurt her. That was why he didn’t feel the need to give Ronny no back talk when he demanded for him to go outside so they could continue their conversation.
Once Ray’Shun was out the door and had closed it behind him, Ronny drew his attention back to his wife.
Licking his lips, he began to speak. “Man look, I know this shit is hard for you to do, but Shan you have to understand, Destiny is too fucking young to have a baby. I don’t even know what she was thinking out there fucking like she was grown anyways. I swear to God, I’ma fuck her and Niyah up once she has that abortion.”
“I understand, Ronny.” She shrugged her shoulders with a light sigh. “I just wanted us to sit and talk about this as a family. This isn’t just something you have to decide overnight. But I guess it doesn’t matter,” she explained. Shaniqua didn’t want Ronny to think she thought it was okay in any way for Destiny to be in the predicament that she was in, but she thought he was going about it the wrong way.
She thought maybe Ronny would give into what she was saying or give it some thought, but his ass just stood there looking down at the floor. Shaniqua saw there was no getting through to her husband.
“I’ll go call now!” With that, she walked off before he had a chance to respond. After all, there wasn’t anything else that needed to be said. He had his mind made up and there was nothing Shaniqua could do or say to make him change it.
****
Getting inside his car, Ronny laid his head back against the headrest before putting it into gear. He took a deep breath before releasing it slowly. He was in serious need of a blunt and though he hated smoking around his kids, he was about to fire up a fat one. Shit, it wasn’t like they didn’t know he smoked anyways. Plus, Ray’Shun was his ace boon coon so he’d smoked around him a time or two.
