  Chapter Five

Vasilisa arrived in America in the morning. Although, the time zone, was different, and she felt utterly exhausted. She was also nervous and felt like she had made the biggest mistake of her life.

She started drifting back to her conversation that she had with her Mother. She was distraught to hear the news that her daughter was going to America to get married. Vasilisa didn't even know how she had explained it to her Mother. Her siblings weren't happy with her either. They all cried together sad to see that their older sister was leaving.

Anna had jumped in joy and congratulated her. At least someone was happy. The company that she had been with was going to send twenty percent of their earnings to her family. She was at least happy that her family would be fed for a couple months, and hopefully her new husband would be charitable.

She was brought out of her thoughts hearing her name. She looked up and met eyes with the man that she only knew from pictures and a computer screen. She smiled at him. She was nervous.

They met up, and he took her bags. He attempted to talk to her in her native tongue, and she could barely understand what he was saying. She could appreciate his effort, though. Vasilisa thought that things were going well so far. She was still nervous, but at least she knew that this man existed and seemed to be honest.

"I guess this is my new life," She said to herself. Brad looked at her and said something in English, but she just smiled at him.

Her new life was interesting to say the least. She thought that she would have to do more things if she were to be this man's new bride. But he hadn't asked her to do anything. She wasn't required to do the dishes, or clean. He hadn't even attempted to kiss her and ask her for sex. Vasilisa didn't know what to make from all of this. She thought that she was here to fulfill his need, and yet she was treated like a guest.

On one hand, she was relieved. It was a lot to take in being in this new world, but at the same time she was a bit suspicious. She thought that he would be all over her. She didn't know what he would say to her, and he was utterly clueless to her language. It was all a big headache in her mind.

On top of this she was horribly homesick. She didn't think that she would miss her family this much. It was probably the idea that she might never see them again that was eating away at her. At night, she would silently cry herself to sleep and wonder if everyone was alright. She missed her Mother's food and strained voice. But she knew that she would have a good life here in America.

During the day, Vasilisa would attempt to do housework so that she could keep her mind off of things. But Brad was reluctant to let her do anything. She had to be firm. He seemed to feel bad whenever he caught her doing work. She didn't understand why. The whole reason she was here was so that she could be his wife and that meant that she would be cleaning and helping around the small apartment.

She would only see Brad at night. He was usually in his office. She would try to be quiet throughout the day so that she wouldn't disturb his work. However, she was curious about what he would be doing in there.

One day he caught her looking at the door when he opened it suddenly. She jumped and had the decency to look embarrassed. She was worried that he would be angry with her, but he only laughed and gestured for her to come into his office. With a little bit of trepidation, she did as he wanted and looked around. It was relatively bare. There was a simple desk and a computer. She laughed at herself. She should have expected as much. He smiled down at her and invited her to look at what projects he was working on. She saw a lot of letters and to the side of it, there was a neatly laid out website.

He began to point and speak in English. She couldn't help but giggle thinking that he had forgotten that she wouldn't understand him. He seemed to notice his mistake and laughed a bit. He stood up and walked out of the office. She saw him go towards the kitchen, so she followed him.

She watched as he made himself a sandwich. He had shooed her away when she went to make it for him. She couldn't help but think that he was an odd individual.

During the next couple of weeks. Brad had begun to attempt to teach her some basic English, and she tried to return the favor.

One day Vasilisa had received a letter in response to one that she had sent her family.

  "Dear Vasilisa,

I hope that you're well. I'm sorry for being so distraught with you when you told me that you were leaving. I think that I was just scared for you. Just know that your mother loves you dearly.

As for your two younger sisters, they wanted to let you know that they hope that you visit soon. They're making you necklaces. Your older Brother was very angry when he heard that you were leaving for America. He may contact you soon.

  Be well my darling child.

  Love,

  Mama."

Vasilisa stared at the letter with tears in her eyes. She didn't know how to respond. She was at a loss for words because she missed her family so much.

Brad walked into her room and saw her distress. He looked at the letter in her hand and was quickly able to piece things together.

He frowned and sat down on the bed next to her. She started to tear up, and it made Brad's heart hurt. He put an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close.

The two sat together for the rest of the night.

  Chapter Six

The weeks were going by quickly, and the couple was beginning to warm up to each other. They were also starting to figure out common words to use with each other.

Vasilisa was surprised that she wasn't completely miserable. Brad was also super sweet. She had thought that she would be committing to a serious fate. But she was actually having fun.

"Vasilisa, let's go on a trip," Brad told her. It wasn't smooth, but she could understand him enough to know that he wanted to take her somewhere. She was a little nervous, but excitement at seeing new things quickly overshadowed her insecurities.

Vasilisa and Brad went to the strip, where they decided to look around the shops. Vasilisa was still couldn't believe the weather she had never been to the beach and was enjoying every second of it.

She was looking at the clothing and Brad was more than happy to get her a couple things.

She was even able to get some bracelets for her family. Vasilisa was extremely excited to send it to them, and Brad was happy that she seemed to be having fun.

He brought her to the beach, and she stared in amazement at the waves. The were a pale blue, and she could see seaweed washing up on shore.

"This is amazing," She said. But Brad was unable to understand her. She sighed feeling a tinge of loneliness. Taking a deep breath, she was able to let the salty air clear her mind.

Brad smiled at her and disappeared only to come back with a cinnamon roll. He was a little bummed that it was too cold to take her into the water, but he saw her smile and figured that she was enjoying herself.

She gratefully took his ice cream and the continued sitting at the beach. He threw his jacket over her shoulders to keep her warm and enjoyed the scenery.

He severely hoped that Vasilisa would enjoy her life here. Day by day it was dawning on him that he had made a selfish decision bringing her to America just to be a wife. He hoped that he could make it up to her by being a good husband.

That was to say if they even decided to get married. Her visa wouldn't expire for another four months. He hadn't told her yet, but if she weren't happy and wanted to marry him officially by the expiration, then he would send her back to Russia.

He only hoped that she would end up enjoying his company by then. He guessed that he should probably make sure that he would be able to live with her for that long also.

The sun was beginning to set, and the couple watched as the sky was filled with brilliant rays of color. He hugged the young woman close and enjoyed the feeling of her small body up against his.

Brad felt happy and fulfilled for the first time in the last few years; He realized that he hadn't thought about his ex-wife in weeks, and he
thought that he was finally moving on from her.

When the sun had fully set, he decided to poke Vasilisa and take her to a nice dinner. He loved watching her eyes light up as a plate was set down in front of her. He laughed when she wanted to try something on his plate, and she was met with an odd flavor.

Excitement coursed through his body at the idea of showing her all of these new things. He felt like he could have someone to share his life with and it was a satisfying idea. The two enjoyed their night, laughing and admiring the city.

On their way home, Vasilisa had fallen asleep as they were driving to the house. Brad would take a peek at her every so often and brush the hair out of her face. He thought that she was insanely cute when she was sleeping. The thought of her sleeping with him in his bed crossed his mind, and he felt like he would want that soon.

He drove up to his apartment and slowly shook Vasilisa until she stirred herself awake.

She sleepily said something in her native language before they slowly made their way back to their home. But once there Vasilisa had no choice but to wake up.

  Chapter Seven

Standing there at the door was her brother Vladimir. He looked like he had been waiting there for a while and she was more than surprised to see him.

"Vlad?" She couldn't help but gasp.

"Vasilisa!" He exclaimed and ran up to hug her.

The two siblings twirled around happy to see one another. Vasilisa hadn't seen her older brother in years. He had gone out on his own to college and was traveling all over the world. She was always confused as to why he didn't stay with their family after their Father died. But she assumed it was because he was enjoying the frivolous things in life. He had always wanted grandeur but wasn't willing to work hard to get it.

Even as children, he would spend money without a second thought. Mother and Father were completely unaware that he made twice as much money as they had thought he made. He hid it from his parents so that he could buy random things. Vasilisa only knew because he liked to spin tales of riches to her. He was very imaginative.

Apparently Mother thought that he was starting to shape up and finally get serious about college. Vasilisa could bet anything that he wasn't even going to college. Instead, he was most likely using the money to go and travel. It always made her heart ache, but she didn't want to tell her Mother. After all, the woman was sacrificing everything for her children.

Vasilisa and Vladimir pulled away from each other. She was suddenly nervous. She knew that Vladimir was most likely here for more than just a friendly visit. She wondered if he was either going to demand his sister to go home or demand money from her husband to be. Either way he didn't have the right.

Another thought crossed her mind. She wondered if he knew that she had taken to prostitution in order to help feed the family. Her stomach sunk. She hated the idea of him knowing. She didn't want to see the pity in his eyes. She didn't want anyone to know.

"What are you doing Vasilisa? Shouldn't you be back home with Mom?" Vladimir told her with irritation coloring his voice.

"I-I needed to find a husband. I needed to start a life for myself" She told him.

He looked like she had just grown two heads, "You can do that with a Russian man who has a good standing."

"It didn't work out like that Vlad. You can't come here and tell me what to do; we've only sent a handful of letters to each other over the last four years. I don't want you making a mess" Vasilisa told him. She was also growing irritated.

"Don't talk to me like that" He growled.

"Woah Woah woah, take it easy. Vasilisa who is this?" Brad intervened speaking English. He was confused and worried this was a lovers battle. He hadn't imagined that Vasilisa could have left a boyfriend behind in Russia.

"I'm Vladimir, Vasilisa's older brother" Vladimir introduced himself in English. Brad raised his eyebrow in surprise. He hadn't realized that he would get a surprise visit like this.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Bradley" He shook Vladimir's hand.

The two men eyed each other up. Both were protective of Vasilisa and neither wanted to back down. Vasilisa sighed in irritation and pushed past her brother, waiting for Brad to open up the door so she could warm up.

As soon as it was open she walked in and sat down at the kitchen island. She gave her brother a glare and he hesitatingly went to sit down next to her.

"I just want you to be safe," Vladimir told her.

"No, you want me to go home, or some money" She accused.

He didn't have the decency to look ashamed, "I just want what is best for my dear younger sister."

Brad looked between the two of them and decided that he would start taking a Russian language class after today. He didn't want to be out of the loop again. He was frustrated that he didn't know what was going on.

"I'm sorry, I'm being rude. I'm just not appreciative of my sister's actions. She suddenly left for America without asking me for advice. I'm technically the head of the household, and she left behind our Mother and younger siblings" Vladimir told Brad. Brad nodded, but he didn't see why she would have to consult him.

"I mean, I'm not holding her hostage. She's here on her own free will" Brad told him.

"Oh really? Then why has my family suddenly received a large sum of money? I don't know who you are, but my sister isn't for sale" Vladimir told Brad.

Brad didn't know how to respond. He knew that it seemed bad that he had bought a wife online. Thinking about it now, there was no way that would look good to any of Vasilisa's family members.

"Stop, you're being rude. I can tell you're saying bad things" Vasilisa told Vladimir.

"I'm saying the truth" He responded.

"Leave, I don't want you stirring up trouble," Vasilisa told him. The two began to yell at each other, and Brad stood up. He didn't approve of anyone yelling at his wife. Especially since it seemed like Vasilisa isn't happy with him.

"Hey, you need to leave. You can come back when Vasilisa says it's alright for you to be here" Brad told him. Anger crossed Vladimir's features for a moment. Brad was worried that he would refuse. But an angry look from Vasilisa made him back down.

"I'll see you again another day," Vladimir told him with a fake smile and strong handshake. Brad walked him out and locked the door.

"Well, I hope that he'll be friendly during the holidays" Brad laughed. But realized his joke went over Vasilisa's head. She gave a sad chuckle anyway. The two went back to their daily routine.

  Chapter Eight

She opened her present. Inside was a modest gold necklace with a pearl pendant. She smiled and looked up at Brad. He seemed to be nervous, but Vasilisa couldn’t be happier. She had never received such a gift before.

The fire in the fireplace left a warm glow over the couple’s features. It kept away the Christmas chill. The movie that had been playing in the background turned off after several minutes of ending. Vasilisa sighed and hugged Brad. He seemed to relax from the gesture.

She wasn't sure what had come over her. But she had the sudden urge to kiss Brad. As he was talking, she leaned forward and gently placed her lips against his. She sighed. A sudden thrill went through her body. So she leaned in again for another kiss. Brad wasn't unwilling; he met her halfway.

Arousal was building up in her, and before she knew it, their gentle caressing turned more hungry in nature. She couldn't help but want to get closer to him. Their kisses became passionate, and she moaned when Brad started to touch her body. His hands were gentle, but they also portrayed a deep want.

Vasilisa couldn't help herself. She slowly climbed onto his lap to straddle him. He bucked up into her, and she could feel him straining in his pants. She purred and watched his eyes darken with desire. The twist in her stomach seemed to get worse. Their connection went beyond words now. They were connecting physically, and she was enjoying every second of it. His panting became louder, and she nibbled on his ear until he let out a satisfying groan.

  Vasilisa couldn't help bu
t whimper, and she felt his hand sneak down in between her thighs. He was rubbing against her pants and making her needy. He seemed to be proud that he was causing this kind of reaction throughout her body.

Before she knew it, she was getting laid down against the couch, and she began to kiss him again. He slipped off her pants and slowly dipped down. Her breath caught as she felt his tongue lick between her folds. She then let out a mewl. She couldn't believe how aroused she was. She could hear the noises coming from her being so wet and his fingers against her.

She grabbed on to his hair, and he took a deep breath before looking her in her eyes. She suddenly came and was left shaking while he held on to her hips.

She laid on the couch trying to catch her breath and looked at Brad. He seemed proud. Despite feeling incredibly tired, she couldn't help but pull him down to her lips. The two began to kiss, and she desperately unbuckle his pants. He chuckled and helped her, kicking his pants off. She was left to stare at his throbbing erection.
