“Okay. Come on back and we’ll close the file. You’re probably right. It’s likely old Intel and we don’t want to waste our time if there is no sign of trouble.”
“Sounds good. Be back shortly,” Xander said cheerfully.
Disconnecting his call, he thumbed through his phone to find another phone number. Shoving his hand in his pocket, he dialed a second number. A voice answered with a curt, “Yes.”
“Hey, it’s me,” said Xander quietly, furtively glancing over his shoulder. “I need to speak to someone on the Vampire High Council.” There was a pause before a voice answered, “Go ahead.”
“Just wanted to let you know, you’re all clear to start using the warehouse again. I’ve told the task force that it’s no longer being used. They’re not interested in investigating it any further.”
With a sinister smile, Xander pressed the “end call” button and whistled to himself as he walked back to his car.
