“Now Max, now!” His thrust drove deep in one long thrust. “Oh fuck Max!”
“Blaine,” he groaned and lifted her legs for deeper penetration. “Shit.” She felt so good he couldn’t stop now. Kissing her mouth hard, Max kept up a punishing pace as though her pussy was the only place in the world for him. His mouth plundered hers as his cock sank deeper and deeper over and over until she began to tighten around him.
“Good god!” Blaine held on to Max, gripping his tight ass and meeting him thrust for thrust. His big body was pressed to hers, giving her the kind of loving she had only ever dreamed about. Her body was slick with moisture, heart racing faster than she could ever hope to count the beats and her very being was vibrating with desire. “Max, oh Max. Yes.”
He growled, loving the way her cries of passion affected him. His hips pistoned in and out of her like a machine until her pussy was squeezing him, milking him until his balls tightened and his spine began to tingle and sizzle. “Blaine fuck. You feel so fucking good.”
“Yes Max.” And then she was falling, her body weightless as she floated with the stars. He grunted and continued to thrust, sending her back up into the atmosphere before allowing her to come back down with him. “Max.”
“Oh shit, baby,” his body quivered and he kept up his punishment, long slow thrusts touching deep inside the heart of her. “Blaine,” he moaned and kissed her until they were both breathless and he was hard for her again.

“What do you have for me Callie?” Max was fresh from the shower after hours in bed with Blaine. He smiled thinking of how creative and adventurous she was in the sack. That woman was as freaky as she was beautiful and fuck if she didn’t taste better than anything.
“Are you listening Max? Last night Tag said they were closing in on the camp so they could have the boys and be on their way back or they could still be fighting.” Callie was stressed and tired, she hadn’t slept well despite her words to Max.
“Shit, seriously?” That was both the best and worst news he’d had since his brothers took off. “So we just wait?”
“That’s what Tag said. How are you guys, any signs of trouble your way?”
Max shook his head even though she couldn’t see him. “Nope. So far it’s been quiet, but I think she shut down before they were able to get a fix on her IP. This is just precautionary as far as I’m concerned.”
“Okay.” He could hear the smile in her voice. “So I guess you and Blaine are getting along better now?”
He smiled. “You could say that.” Shit they were better than good but he didn’t want to share the dirty details with Callie. “She’s still mouthy but she’s also still hot and still frustrating.”
Her sweet laughter made his smile even bigger. “Well enjoy yourself Max and I hope to see you soon.”
“Later,” he hung up and went in search of Blaine. He found her lounging in the bathtub and covered in bubbles. “Having fun?”
She smiled up at him. “Tons,” she purred and extended a bubble covered leg. “Need a bath?”
He began undressing and gave her the updates from Callie. “We should hear something in the next two days.”
“Is Trina okay?”
He nodded and dipped one foot in the water. “Fuck that’s hot! How are you sitting in there?”
She giggled. “You need hot water to get clean Maximiso.” He narrowed his gaze and she laughed again and tugged his arm. “Get in here you big baby.”
He did as she said and wrapped his arms around her middle, kissing her neck. “Mmm, you smell good enough to eat.”
“Feel free to satisfy your appetite, oh!” She moaned and arched into him when his fingers brushed against her folds. “Max.”
Chapter Four
“So you aren’t going to tell me anything?” Max was trying to get any shred of information he could from Blaine. So far she was acting like a prisoner being interrogated.
“Tell me what you want to know or ask me a question and I’ll tell you. Maybe.” Blaine hated talking about her past. With a passion. “I’m surprised you haven’t done background on me.”
He shrugged and ran a finger along the length of her back. “I didn’t have time before leaving and I had no reason to before then.” He kissed a trail down her spine, making her shiver. “Where are you from?”
“I was born in Milwaukee and lived all around the area until my sixteenth birthday.”
“And then?”
And then life got really hard and complicated. “Then I left foster care and,” she hated this part and she was glad her back was to him. She hated the pity she’d seen on everyone’s face and she didn’t want to see it on Max’s ruggedly handsome face. “And then I lived on the street for a couple years.”
“How’d you survive?”
She scoffed. “How do you think Max? I ate from dumpsters, made friends with the wrong people and slept in a $300 van I bought online.”
“Shit.”
“Yeah. Any more questions?”
His laugh was bitter. “Only about a million.” Kissing the back of her neck, Max rubbed his cock against her naked ass. “But I won’t ask them. Thank you for sharing.”
She was shocked that he hadn’t apologized for what she’d gone through. “No problem.” Turning in his arms Blaine cupped his face and kissed him slow and deep, pouring the gratitude and affection she felt into that kiss. She couldn’t tell him how she felt, hell she wasn’t even sure what she was feeling, but she could show him.
“Damn babe, what was that for?”
She smiled softly. “That was for having the most kissable lips in the world.” It was true and she had to go back for another taste. For as long as she lived she would never get enough of tasting this man.
Max grabbed a handful of her round ass. “You know how to make a guy feel special, B.” He ground against her and lifted slightly so he could slip inside her sweet hot body.
Rolling her hips, Blaine planted her hands on his muscular chest. “Well I do aim to please.”
“Ah, that you certainly do.” She pleased him more than anyone he’d ever known and he wanted to take her back to Colorado with him.
~
Blaine woke up from a deep sleep to the sound of whispered voices and turned to wake Max. He was gone. “Max,” she whispered but he didn’t answer. Tossing on a t-shirt she slid her feet into her slippers and crept down the hall. Max was upstairs and he was talking to someone. “Max,” she whispered again. What if he wasn’t the source of the voices? He hadn’t told her much about security here, probably was worried she’d hack her way out. She stopped just outside the door, listening. She should feel guilty but she didn’t.
“I’ll be glad to get out of here.” He was typing as he spoke and she stayed still, listening intently. “I don’t know what her plans are but I’m happy to be rid of her now that Levi is home.”
Shit. Would she ever learn her lesson? This wasn’t the first time she’d overheard bad shit when she should have been doing something else. But it was always better to know what you were up against. Now she knew. Well it was good while it lasted. Now it was all over and she could start over. Again.
Blaine locked herself in her bedroom and repacked her suitcases. She would have to travel light until she figured out her next move, so Max would have to get the boxes to Trina whether he wanted to or not. Or she could make the trip east with him and then figure out where she would go. Twelve hours in a car pretending she didn’t hear what he’d just said? Unlikely and she wasn’t in the mood to hash it out. So she was leaving.
She tossed a few pairs of jeans, shirts and a jacket into her ridiculously oversized handbag and packed the rest in the suitcases. She slipped a note for Trina inside the big case and got dressed. It was still the middle of the night so she made up the bed and laid on top of it until she fell asleep. Tomorrow was another day, a new start.
The beginning of her next new adventure.
An hour later she heard Max jiggle the
doorknob and curse as he went to his own bed. She wished his frustration made her feel better but it didn’t because she’d fallen for the idiot. The one thing she told herself never to do she’d gone and done to a guy who was with her out of obligation. Normally it didn’t matter because she never let anyone get close enough to develop messy things like feelings. A bitter laugh escaped her. It turns out the government planned to use alternative means to make me suffer.
She fell asleep thinking about her week here with Max. This would be the last time she allowed herself to indulge in these memories.
When she woke up a few hours later Blaine groaned, the sun was still not up. Dammit. She unlocked the door and made her way to the third floor office. Since Levi was safe at home in Colorado with his brothers, it was time to make sure Canady paid for his sins. She pulled up the files they’d gathered and created an anonymous email that would never be traced to anyone. The emails between Canady and his chief of staff were first, then the video clips and the other emails she’d uncovered about his promises to lobbyists and defense contractors. She bundled it all into a zip file and sent it to every news agency and blog she could think of.
Now her work was done.
Goodbye Max.
~
A strange feeling had come over Max sometime during his conversation with Reece. He couldn’t quite place it but after their conversation he’d gone back to bed, or tried to but Blaine’s door was locked. Weird. Now the cabin was completely quiet and he couldn’t shake the sense that something was wrong.
Scrambling from the bed, Max yanked open his door and knocked on Blaine’s. She didn’t answer but the door was unlocked. “Shit!” The bed was made as if she hadn’t slept on it. His gaze went to the corner where her suitcases were stacked on top of her boxes and he released a sigh of relief. She was still here. Good.
The sweet smell of blueberries carried his feet downstairs. With a big smile he turned to greet Blaine, but she wasn’t there. His stomach turned when he saw the yellow paper on the counter next to blueberry scones. He stood still at the bottom of the stairs unwilling to read that letter. His body protected him, kept him away because if he didn’t read it then she hadn’t left him in the middle of the night.
But he couldn’t fight the ache in his chest. Blaine had left. Fuck!
He read the letter and his stomach dropped. She heard him playing the big man for his brother. Refusing to acknowledge that he’d found a woman that meant something to him. Was important to him. Now he was “rid of her” for good, according to her. “Shit!” How did she even get out of the house? He’d purposely told her next to nothing about the security system but apparently she’d found a way to hack it and make her escape.
An hour later Max had the cabin closed up and the Land Rover packed for the long drive back to Colorado. Alone. His thoughts should have been on his brother Levi and how they would help him heal but they were stuck on a short curvy woman with pink braids and a bad attitude. “Dammit!”
When he pulled up to Hawkeye he saw that everyone was there. Thank goodness, he needed to see Levi with his own eyes. To wrap his arms around his brother and tell him he loved him.
“Levi!” He spotted his brother in the big conference room, a little beat up and tired but alive. “I’m so happy you’re alright, man.” He wrapped his big arms around Levi and patted his back a little too hard. “God I’m glad you’re here.”
Levi gifted him with a small smile. “I’m alive, bro so yeah, that’s a good start.”
“You can stay with me since everyone else is shacked up.” They shared a laugh and looked around at their brothers, wrapped around their women.
“That Trina is something else. Good acquisition in my absence,” he looked at the woman with admiration. “Where’s your woman?”
Wasn’t that the fucking question?
“Tell Levi where she is Max,” Trina prodded. Obviously she knew.
“You’ve talked to her?” He heard the eagerness in his voice but couldn’t give a shit, not now.
“Of course I did. What the hell were you thinking?”
“I wasn’t.” And he couldn’t even blame her for being upset. It was his fault for being a dick on the phone. “Shit I hate being razzed you all know that.” He glared at Reece.
“Don’t blame me bro, I told you to admit how you felt and you’re the one who pretended to be glad to get rid of her.” Reece laughed and hugged Trina closer.
“Fuck you, Reece.”
“No thanks, I’ve got my own.”
He turned a pleading look to the woman in his brother’s arms. “Trina where is she?”
“I don’t know Max, honestly. She called me from a disposable phone that is no longer in service and said she might be in touch.” Trina was worried about Blaine, she’d never sounded so low. Her voice was quiet and she didn’t curse even once. Trina suspected Blaine had fallen for the gruffest of the Howard brothers. “I doubt I’ll hear from her for a few months, which means your workload is going to double.”
His shoulders sank. “Fine,” he said, leaving a set of keys on the table for Levi before exiting the conference room.
~
New Orleans was Blaine’s fresh start. She rented a house near the Quarter and got to enjoy beignets and coffee every morning. Life was good. Mundane as hell, but good. She was no longer doing any information gathering for anyone, instead she designed websites on a freelance basis. For the past six weeks she’d done good—but boring—work and built up a base of clients that included small businesses, porn companies and new restaurants. She worked quickly and efficiently and made decent money, so she would never have to do work that put her in danger again.
She was bored out of her fucking skull.
Blaine knew she needed to reach out to Trina, let her know she was safe, alive. But she couldn’t even think of Trina without thinking of Max and how eager he’d been to see the back of her. Well she wouldn’t be stupid enough to make the same mistake again. Nope, she was an island and she needed no one. Well she did need Trina, the woman was the closest thing to family she had. She fired off a text,
Am okay. Talk to you soon. B.
She was happy with her life. It was much better than the life she used to have so she couldn’t complain, wouldn’t complain. Not ever. Her fridge was full of food, she had more than enough to pay her bills and regular work. Yep, no reason to complain. About anything. At all.
Her phone rang. Trina, shit. “Hi Trina.”
“Don’t you ‘Hi Trina’ me, where the hell have you been? I’ve been worried sick about you!”
“I’m fine Trina, no need to worry about me.”
“I’m glad to hear that, but someone here isn’t quite so fine.”
Blaine stilled then exhaled. “Okay.”
“That’s all you have to say? Come on, Blaine.”
“What do you want me to say? I gave him what he wanted, to be rid of me. What’s the problem?”
“Seriously? You know he didn’t mean it.”
She raised her chin defiantly and crossed her arms in defense. It didn’t matter Trina couldn’t see her, she needed to protect herself. “I don’t know that. He said it so I assume he meant it.”
“Well I hope you mean that.”
“Why Trina?”
“Because he’s there.”
She gasped and turned around to find Max, looking big and beautiful with those blue eyes looking at her like she was his whole world. “What the hell are you doing in my house?” She brought the phone back to her ear. “You could have warned me Trina. Later.” She tossed the phone on the table and stared at Max. “Well?”
“You left.” His arms were crossed, biceps trying to rip out of his t-shirt.
“You’re welcome. I mean, I was just giving you what you wanted Max, right? To be rid of me.”
“Aw fuck Blaine, you know I didn’t mean that. I’d just come from your bed!”
Her foot was tapping impatiently. “Oh right, because men only sleep with
women they want to keep around forever. Got it. I’ll make sure to remember that for next time.” She knew better than most that a man could fuck a woman he hated if he wanted it bad enough.
“Okay fine then. I didn’t fucking mean it, okay? Reece was harassing me and I just wanted him to shut the hell up. I shouldn’t have said it, I’m sorry. So goddamn sorry.”
Her posture relaxed a bit at his apology. It didn’t really change anything but she could see it was important to him. “I accept your apology Max.” He stalked over to her, breathing fire like a blue eyed dragon.
“I don’t want your fucking apology Blaine. I want you.” He cupped her face and kissed her until he felt her knees buckle. He kissed her, laid claim to her mouth until he felt her give in to him. To them. “I didn’t come here for an apology Blaine. I want you,” he gave her another searing kiss. “I want us. I haven’t had so much fun with a woman since I was fifteen. I haven’t been as annoyed either but fuck I love everything about you from your smart mouth to your sexy body and those beautiful lips, especially when their wrapped around my cock. I want more time with you. I need it.”
Blaine was breathless, from his kiss and his words. But she wasn’t doing this, whatever it was, again. “Until you get sick of me or until one of your brothers razzes you, right? Because I’ve seen brothers and that’s what they do.”
“No,” he shook his head. “No Blaine, I won’t get sick of you. Not ever. You make me smile and you’re fun and fuck, I’m falling for you.”
“You are?” Hands on her hips, she looked at him like she thought he was full of shit.
“I am,” he cupped her face again, smiling because he could feel her racing pulse. She was in but she needed convincing. “I was going to ask you to come to Colorado with me but I woke up and you were gone.”
