The King Is Always Above the People Page 18

by Daniel Alarcón

I’m indebted to the many friends who read versions of these stories along the way, offering advice, ideas, and the occasional pep talk: Vinnie Wilhelm, Adam Mansbach, Josh Begley, Lila Byock, Mark Lafferty, Joe Loya, and Rabih Alameddine.

Thank you to my colleagues and friends at Radio Ambulante, especially Camila Segura. Working so closely with you these last several years has helped shape the way I think about stories.

Thank you to my editor, Laura Perciasepe, for your patience and unflagging support.

Lastly, thank you to my family, especially my wife, Carolina. Without you, this book, and most of the things that make me happy, would simply not exist. Gracias, mi amor.
