by White, Walt
As Stone and his daughter were walking to the lakeshore diner to get ice-cream when he about walked into a person coming around the diner corner. Stone turned around and stopped while saying, “Ma’am, I am sorry for…”
Oh! My my…He thought.
His world stopped for a second, and his heart stopped pumping blood as he gazed in those eyes. It was the same beautiful blonde haired, blue-eyed woman was in the front of his eyes. Stone glanced at her as she stood there in her red swimsuit with red lipstick. It was like he had lost his senses for a while. The blonde kept saying and repeating things, but it was too late. Stone got lost in her beauty, and nothing could fix him.
“Daddy, Daddy… please move, I am starving” His daughter said.
She was holding the corner of his shirt.
“Just one moment sweet girl.”
“Wait, are you the girl whom I saw at the church a few days ago and then you vanished?” Stone said.
“Yes, but how do you remember?”
“Who would forget a girl like you.” Stone said.
“I wanted to talk to you at that instant but I couldn’t because of my grandmother, she’s strict. I searched for you on social media and all over town, but you got lost like a precious diamond” The Blonde said.
“I have wanted to talk to you too, my luck is turning for the better tonight. It is a great pleasure to see you. You look beautiful. What is your name?” Stone asked.
“My name is Lyndsey,” The Blonde said.
“I am Stone, nice to meet you. I know this is forward but do you want to have dinner with us?”
“Sure. I would love to.’ She said.
They all three walked towards the Diner located just north of the beach.
“What would you like to have, Lyndsey,” Stone said.
“Daddy, I need that ice-cream. Please, please.”
She jumped up and down while pulling on his shirt again.
“Oh, so you are married? You have a cute daughter, she looks like you” Lyndsey said.
“No, I am divorced, single, and been on my own for a short while.
Stone held his daughter’s hand and gave her a tight hug.
“Hey, everything will be okay” as he looked in her eyes. We will order that ice-cream now. Why don’t you go play shuffleboard while we wait?” Stone said.
Stone bent over and whispered in Lyndsey’s ear joking.
“Will you be my future wife?” Stone said.
She nodded yes without hesitating.
“Lyndsey?” Stone said.
She gazed into his eyes and asked what’s the matter. Stone made sure his daughter’s head got turned looking at the shuffleboard game. He came forward and asked permission to kiss her lips.
Soon, Lyndsey responded, and a new love story had begun.
That night they sat by the lake and loved sparkled all over them.
“Here is your ice cream, honey.” Stone said.
Stone’s daughter ran and gave Stone the biggest hug.
“I am glad your back Daddy, Nana doesn’t let me eat ice cream.” Stone’s daughter said.
“I am glad too, sweet girl.” Stone said.
