You Are Never a Stranger Page 8

“Can I meet that kid once and apologize for my crime?” I asked my dad.

“You are no criminal!” my dad told and agreed to take me to them.

It is a tiny house in a slum near MJ road. He treated us as if a God came to his house. I hated that conduct. He isn’t even a percent angry at me for hitting the kid, his own child.

“I am sorry for what I did,” I told the kid.

“It’s okay, sir. We would have dead if we hadn’t moved here,” he told.

A girl trying to hide behind a wall looking at a piece of paper, stood staring at us.

“What are you looking at, kid?” I asked the girl.

She showed me a newspaper on which my father’s photo is posted related to an article and asked “Is that you?” pointing to my dad.

“Yeah, it’s me,” my dad smiled.

“What should I do if I want my picture to be on paper one day,” she asked innocently.

“Study well, be a smart girl,” my dad motivated her.

He is really a sweetheart. He never had any proud because of his success. He took that girl in his hands, pampered her and said, “You will definitely be one day,” and she smiled.

Aria and I moved to the boy who was hit. He lost his legs and now a cripple.

I held his hand and said “I am really sorry for what I had done.”

  “It’s okay,” he smiled

I never saw affection worth more than these, from any person who stacked to me attracted to my money. Life is not having people around us when we have everything; life is having at least one heart caring for us when we have nothing.

“What are your names?” he asked me.

“Mr. And Mrs. Aria,” Aria told interrupting the conversation.

“Why girls should always be designated by men’s names?” Aria cornered an old taboo.

“I am Avvi and she is my sister Geetu,” he said pointing her sister.

We spent two hours talking to them; my dad gave him some more money and asked them to move to a better house and told Geetu’s father to take good care of both his children.

On our return journey, my dad said, “You have got a mission, my son”

  “What?” I asked in surprise.

“I don’t want to see that slum anymore,” he smiled.

Am proud that he is my dad. I felt happy to have been brought up in a house like that.

“Sir,” Jane came to me into my bedroom.

“Yeah, it’s been a long time. How are you Jane?” I asked him.

“Sir, I have trivial data for you,” he told.

  “What’s that about?” I asked.

“About the attack on you,” he asked sharply.

“How come you know something? Explain me everything you know,” I asked him.

“Simon Robs is behind your attack; I guess,” he stated.

  “How?” I asked.

“I saw Simon Robs having a meet with your father,” he gave another statement.

“Damn! Jane, tell me everything,” I shouted in a stress.

“Simon Robs came to your dad and asked if he can appoint you as CEO of his company. Your father rejected his offer. He surely is behind you. He never came and asks for anyone to work for him, something from you is wanted by him. Some or the other way he wanted you. That might be the reason why he sent snatchers to get you to him,” he said in a scary tone.

“Everything you told, fits into a logical structure; and I am thankful to you for the information. I’ll put in some effort to know what exactly he needed,” I told strongly.

“It’s okay, sir,” Jane felt proud of himself.

“Why would Simon Robs need me? I still don’t find a reason!” I asked Jane after I have thought for a while.

“I don’t know exactly, but he need you for some or other reason,” he answered something which is already known.

“Is that true that he kidnaps people and use them for mining?”I asked.

“Most probably, but we cannot get any information from any of his employee’s because everyone knows nothing other than the small work assigned to them. He is a brilliant guy,” Jane explained.

“I need to put a check for his diamond empire,” I set a goal for myself.

“Sir, please be careful!” Jane warned me.

“Thanks for the concern,” I told him.

“Come here son. Someone is expecting you here,” my mom shouted.

I ran down to the dining table expecting Aria and got disappointed at once. But I felt happy as I saw DSP uncle; known for his work and kindness. It’s been a long time since I met him.

“How are you, uncle?” I asked him.

“I am fine my son,” I told and engaged a chair at the dining table.

“Uncle is expecting us at his home tomorrow,” my dad told me.

“That’s all right.I am totally free,” I said happily, though my mom went on poking me.

“In Nevara,” my mom whispered in my ear.

Shocked to hear that word I started to regretting my decision and turned pale. Nevara is no nearer to our city, we need to travel at least a 400km to reach there.

“Purpose of our visit?” I whispered slowly in my mom’s ears.

“His grandson’s birthday,” my mom whispered back.

“Mommy, is it necessary for me to come?” I cried like a kid in her ears.

“Why were you so intensified to agree? I even poked you,” she replied angrily and continued “Now you can’t leave me alone. Your dad is boring”

“Okay, I’ll come,” I said sadly. And made my mom happy.

I got a call from an unknown number; I picked up the call and asked: “Who is this?”

“It’s me, Mayan,” the person on the other side of call told.

“Hey, is it your new number?” I asked.

“Yes, it is. Shall we meet tomorrow?” he asked.

“I am sorry. I have to go to Nevara,” I rejected and asked, “What for?”

“Not very important. See you soon!” he signed off.

We sat at the dining table for about an hour and then I left in my room while my parents and uncle went on speaking about everything important in the world.

I called Aria, “Hello, who is this?” she asked.

  “Your husband,” I said funnily.

  “Which number?” she punched me.

  “I don’t know,” I said laughing.

“I want to see you,” I said.

“I feel the same,” she expressed.

  “Shall I come?” I asked.

“No,” she said in an instant and continued “distance makes love more precious.”

“I would love this distance if it is less than 2 inches.” I mocked.

“Then I guess you are with me,” she smiled.

We spoke for an hour and went to bed lately.

  17. A Drop of Tear

This was my story; a story of a boy from an orphanage became the heir of Mr. Dev. From being a boy of stupidity, richness and arrogance all over and now is this man who lost everything as a stranger to myself. I stood in front of a mirror imagining everything I read in my diary. I finally got to know who I was and who I am, but I miss my parents. Tears in the form of sadness flowing down from one of my eyes because I miss my parents and happiness running down from the other eye because I would meet Aria. It was a mixed emotion.

“This is my story Sofia,” I told everything to her.

“Everything would be alright!” she suggested.

“No, I can’t. Nothing is alright. My parents are dead. I came walking from a death-bed, and they ruined my life,” I shouted at her.

She remained silent. I regretted my behavior and told,“I am sorry. I really didn’t mean it!”

“It’s okay. Aria must have been waiting, go meet her,” she still suggested me and expected me to be happy.

“Yeah, am excited to meet her,” I said and smiled at Sofia.

“Jane, I need a good lawyer. I have filed a case against Simon Robs and a handy gun to
o” I told Jane at the dining table while Sofia and I are having breakfast.

“Sir, he is the richest man in the state. It’s a huge risk, and by the way, we can’t harm him by law,” he told frankly.

  “Then?” I asked.

“Sir, rumors is that he is using some new humanoid technology and digging more precious diamonds at depths where any human ever imagined to go where not even any advanced machinery can dig. Rumors are heard that he is kidnaping a number of tribes,” he told everything he knows.

“Excuse me,” Sofia left the dining place.

“Oh shit!” Sofia’s words are audible, something might have gone wrong on the other side.

“Then what do we do now?” I asked Jane regards Simon Rob’s case.

He shrugged unknowing what to answer.

“Do you know what happened to us, on the day we my parents and I started for the trip?” I asked him.

“Sir, I don’t know exactly. We got a call that your parents are dead. We rushed to the spot and you weren’t there in the car, the back part of the car was completely burnt and was set to fire. We all imagined you to be completely burnt in the accident. Only your DSP uncle sustained the accident,” Jane said.

  “Call him immediately!” I ordered.

“He can’t move. We have to go to his place,” he explained.

“Okay, I want to meet Aria as soon as possible. I am desperate to meet her. Does she know if am alive or not?” I asked Jane.

“Sir, she did not live a human life from the day she heard you were gone. I never saw her smiling after the incident. She lived a life without life, she was a moving corpse,” he told what he knew.

“Then why didn’t you inform on the very first day I returned?” I asked Jane.

“I did not want this business to be done on calls. Go and meet her in person. I wanted you to enjoy every second of surprise in her face once she sees you alive. I guess that’s going to be the best moment of your life, and you were in a depression, I didn’t want to stress you” he suggested an awesome surprise for her; which even I didn’t think of.

“Let’s go to Aria’s home and then follow to DSP uncle’s place; make all the arrangements,” I ordered Jane.

Sofia took her chair again after a long call. “What is the matter, Sofia?” I asked curiously.

“10 bodies were found at GK beach in a disgusting way. They suffered a cruel death. Post-murder reports tell that they were influenced by some powerful steroids,” Sofia said sadly.

  “So sad!” I expressed.

“People use wildlings and tribes as rats for few experiments. I hate the way they do it,” she said sadly.

“We need to stop them and I have good news for you,” Sofia said exciting me.

  “What?” I asked.

“My cousin Varoon went a step ahead and warned Simon Robs to pause all his crimes and he has threatened to jail; Simon Robs is really shaken by us,” Sofia smiled.

“Am happy for it,” I smiled and said, “I’ll put an end to him soon.”

“Sir, I called Aria’s parents. There awaits bad news for you,” Jane said sadly.

  “What?” I asked demurred.

“Aria was kidnapped last week, still not found,” he told.

With every step I moved on, my heart beat rose; with pain dominating in heart I stepped on. I felt I am very close to her, but the aloofness between us is increasing every single time. I entered the hall, it is exactly the same as I described in my diary, very huge and spacious, Aria’s parents became dry, crying for her. What not they might have done to find her for the past one week, but they failed.

Uncle gave a warm hug. Not knowing whether to smile for my return or to cry for his daughter’s missing. He welcomed me.

“Every one of us thought you were dead. Your relatives seized your possessions,” he told.

“How is Aria?” I wanted to know about her.

“She was never a normal human. Once she received the news of your death, and finally, she has gone missing now,” he told.

“Tell me what had happened,” I asked.

“Last week she got a call from an unknown number at night. She ran out, shouting that you were alive; happily,” he said sadly.

“Aria is no fool. She just won’t run by a simple call that says I am alive. The kidnapper must have sent her some solid proof,” I suspected.

“It must be Mayan,” I fathomed.

“How come you doubt him?” Sofia asked.

“He is the only guy who knew that I am alive and he even knows Aria very well,” I explained them.

“But why would Mayan do?” uncle questioned.

“Because he works for Simon Robs,” I conjectured a new theory and continued,“Simon Robs want me for some unidentified reason, I don’t know what exactly he wants, but he is the reason for my parent’s death, and I filed a case against him; there is an unknown war between us,” I explained to everyone.

“Don’t mess with him. He is too dangerous for us,” uncle suggested.

“I still doubt if Mayan is involved,?” I asked myself. And said “I do not understand your game Mayan”

“Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll get Aria in two days. I bet my life for her,” I signed off.

“What are you going to do now?” Sofia asked.

“I want to meet my uncle first. Aren’t you busy at the hospital?” I asked Sofia as if she ever said no to me.

“I do have works, but how can I be a responsible doctor if I don’t help my family first?” he smiled. I felt happy that she treated me like her family.

“I am happy I have a friend like you. I don’t know where would I have been without you,” I praised her.

My car took a self-swing and tilted leftward when someone tried to hit my car with his; Sofia and Jane bellowed in fear.

“Someone tried to hit us. Don’t panic,” I told them.

  “Who?” Sofia asked, still petrified.

  “I don’t know,” I laughed.

Jane, more horrified than Sofia, carried an expression of death.

“Do you drive well?” Sofia asked me.

“They can’t hit my car,” I stated.

“Why?” she questioned as if she wanted a hit.

“Some people are coming for us. We need to tackle them,” I explicated.

  “I am scared,” she shouted.

“They can’t hit my car. Accident prone sensors are inbuilt,” I told her clearly.

“What are accident prone sensors?” she asked. Though I explained her everything about them while narrating my past, still she asked as if she know nothing; I doubted her talents to be a doctor.

I raised my car’s speed and went straight to hit a car; Jane and Sofia shouted loudly petrified of a mishap, but my car took a swing after lowering the speed by itself when it is about to smash. And we are safe as I expected.

  “Understood?” I asked her.

  She said, “Yes,” breathing severely.

3 more cars started chasing us.

“Drive faster!” Sofia shouted in fear and I dropped the plan of passing the driving seat to her,

“Okay,” I said guaranteeing her life.

The more they tried to hit my car, the more swings my car took and they were unable to touch us at all. They started shooting my car and a window broke. I took my gun and shot straight to the tire of a car chasing us.

“Do you know how to shoot?” Sofia asked another ill-advised question.

Another bullet hit our car window hard. A guy chased my car and matched his speed with that of mine; I aimed straight at the driver and able to hit him after 3 trails. Their car flipped left side of the road and fell into the bushes.

Broken window sounds and cars flip and tilt sounds are clearly audible because they are loud enough to be heard. The third car stopped chasing us and I laughed at my victory.

“How was that?” I asked Sofia.

She was still horrified in fear, half wet with sweat.

  “Yes,” she told still shudder
ing and Jane fell unconscious long back.

Uncle still on the bed resting his wounded body.

“How did they hit my car? Sensors were on, there is no way they can hit us,” I asked straight without wasting any time.

“They didn’t hit us while running. Your driver stopped the car because someone pretended to be dead on the main road. You sat in the front row while your parents accompanied me in the back row. Suddenly he stood up and banged your driver’s head. The car isn’t running then and all of a sudden a lorry hit us from behind. Your parents couldn’t sustain the hit, you got a strong hit on your forehead and you fell unconscious. I tried hard to get out of the car, but I couldn’t. Then the car started to burn from the engine. Some guys took you away and I fell unconscious. Later on, some strangers helped me out and took me to the hospital. And I was saved,” he told everything he remembered.

“Where are your burns?” I asked about his burns.

He removed the blanket covering his body. It is half way burnt and a scary sight to look at. Sofia suggested him to visit her place so that she can help cure him.

“It is a cold-blooded murder, I am not going to leave Simon Robs alive,” I shouted in anger to avenge my parents.

“But where did they take you?” Sofia asked.

“Mayan is the only guy who knows everything,” I said.

“How come you know that Mayan was behind this?” Sofia asked in confusion.

“Mayan is the only guy who works under Simon Robs. He knew that accident prone sensors do not work when the car isn’t running. Our product has not been launched yet. We tried them on our cars at home and most importantly, I told Mayan that I was leaving to Nevara next when he called me on the day before the accident,” I explained her clearing all her confusions.

“Yeah, it’s worthy to speak to Mayan in detail, he had many tangles to be resolved,” she told.

  18. Secrets of Ones Unfolded Life

I called Mayan from Sofia’s mobile; the one she saved when we camouflaged him to be bouquet guy. Mayan lifted the call after 2 rings.
