My Beating Hart: A Vampire Rockstar Reverse Harem Romance (Beating Hart Series Book 2) Page 12

by J. L. Ostle

We all face the stairs. I start to walk slowly toward it. I look on in horror when I spot all the demons striding up, smirking, and they have a look of glee on their faces. Why aren’t they in their cells? How did they get out?

“How can they be free?” I hear someone say behind me.

“The cells were connected to Ivory’s magic. Without it, the place has lost its mojo,” Caspian says.

  “You guess,” Rush adds.

“It’s the only explanation,” Caspian says angrily.

“You two stop it. Kayleigh, zap them back,” I scream at her as they get closer to us.

She flicks her hand. They move a little, but nothing else happens because she hasn’t learned how to control it. “Nothing is happening,” she panics.

The demons start to charge for us. I lift my hands and a shield appears in front of us, yet we all still scream. My gift. I still have my gift. I feel them pounding against it. I know I won’t be able to keep this going for long. My body feels drained. I am sure it’s because I am back to a normal human self.

“Slate, get the people out of here,” I shout at him.

“What about you?” he shouts at me.

“I will block them for as long as I can, but hurry,” I say weakly.

  “We can’t leave you.”

“They come first,” I tell him. “If this is meant to happen, it will. Just go,” I shout again, and he wants to fight me, but he gets moving. He opens the hotel doors and starts leading everyone out. The bubble I have created is starting to burn my hands.

I haven’t used my gift for so long: I have relied on the magic within. I haven’t tried really hard to keep my gift strong. Is this how I end up in the bed hooked up to machines? The demons slowly start to surround the bubble. With everyone now gone. I move myself, blocking the door.

I see red mist surround me, trying to break my shield. I fall to my knees and the door bangs open. Everyone comes flying in. I fall back, my body hitting the wall knocking me out for a moment.

I spot Kayleigh walk in, in her whole glowy glory. But she saunters in and the hotel starts to change. I hear walls banging, and rooms start to disappear. Emz spots me and comes over and helps me up. I have never seen her so scared since I was shot.

“What happened? Why are you back?” I ask her.

“Kayleigh is a bad guy.” She looks back at her, and I look too.

The guys are on the ground but soon stand, looking at her confused. She blows them a mocking kiss before standing in front of the demons with her arms crossed.

“I swear this was all too easy,” she gleams. “I thought it would take longer for you to fall for me, but good thing I have been spiking your blood with love potion. They say true love wins all, but I guess it doesn’t.” Love potion?

They only fell for her because of magic?

I think back to her using ingredients.

  The drinks.

  My drinks?

“I guess you spiked mine also.” I take a step forward, and she beams at me.

She claps her hands. “I had to turn you a little dark, even if it’s for a little while. Why do you think you have been so angry that you felt Hulk like? Each time you were asleep, I was taking your blood, mixing it with my own, the goodness running through my veins.”

  “What about my dreams?”

“You mean your steamy encounters with the dark power? They are very much real. Why do you think you are still alive? He wants you, princess. You are the true light; he knows that. All I did was steal your power.”

“You have been meeting the dark power in your sleep?” Rush asks with a hint of anger in his voice. “Have you been with him?” He stands.

“Don’t you dare start acting like the martyr. You all were all over her. You all fucked her; the bad guy, so don’t you dare start acting all jealous now,” I spit. “If I slept with him, don’t you think things would be different? Like I wouldn’t be here since I would be at his side?”

“Ivory, I am so sor…” Caspian starts, but I raise my hand.

It may have been magic, but I’m not ready for that talk.

  It’s not the time anyway.

“What do you want?” I ask her.

“Them.” She points to everyone. I look at each of them, seeing fear in all their eyes. I spot Serene, and she is shaking in her dad’s arms, tears falling down her cheeks.

Amber is with her parents, hugging them. My parents are behind me, but I see my mom hugging my dad. Emz and Steph are at my side. I look at each person. I basically brought them all together to be taken at once.

  It was all planned out.

The first vision. It was acted out.

  To put everything into motion.

“I won’t let you touch them,” I croak when I feel an invisible hand choke me, dragging me along the floor, my feet hardly touching the ground, until I am eye to eye with Kayleigh. Her white eyes mocking me. “Supernatural beings aren’t meant to be able to hurt me,” I breathe.

“I am connected to all magic remember, even yours. I watched you walk around here, having all this power coursing through you, and you made it look like it was such hard work, a burden, but it’s such a glorious feeling. I feel so light, this connection to everything. I know this magic will leave me soon, I just need enough time to get these people to your lover.” She squeezes my throat a little.

“Stop it,” I try and get out.

“Kayleigh, leave her alone.” Zeke runs toward her, but he’s pushed back.

“How sweet, even after they betrayed you, they are trying to make amends. You see the last potion I made will be wearing off, and the guilt is going to set in, and then they are going to feel that true love for you again. Too bad that every time you see them, you will think of me. Thinking of their hard cocks banging inside me.” She licks my lips. “It wasn’t just the once.”

“That’s enough.” I hear a voice behind her. The hold she had on me is gone, and I fall to the ground, coughing, trying to control my breathing. I see a hand extended. I look to see the dark power standing there. “Let me help you.” My body hums for him. I place my hand in his, and he helps me stand.

“What are you doing here? We were going to bring them to you,” Kayleigh asks in surprise. Before I have a chance to react, he backhands her, causing her head to turn.

“How dare you lay a finger on her,” he growls at her.

“Sorry, my lord.” She bows her head.

He looks back at me and the people behind me. He is here, in person. I’m not dreaming. I notice his eyes go dark looking behind me. I turn to see the guys standing there; they are all looking at him with contempt and anger.

I notice their eyes look at our joined hands.

I can’t explain it, but I don’t let go. I feel this security, this safety with my hand in his.

“Ivory, you should have told us you were seeing him in your dreams; we could have maybe tried to stop it,” Slate speaks.

“When? After you were kissing her, or after you slept with her?” I see the hurt in his eyes.

“He is the one that made us do it. It was magic, not our own free will,” Rush adds.

“Actually, the love potion I gave was small doses to see if it would work. You acted on your desire; I just upped the dose the last few days,” Kayleigh corrects him.

  “Lies,” Zeke shouts at her.

“Why would I lie?” Kayleigh shrugs. “Not my fault you fall easily for a vulnerable goody, goody.”

“Ivory, he is here to kidnap everyone, to kill them. Get away from him,” Slate pleads.

“Actually, I have come to make a deal.” He stands in front of me, entwining our fingers. “For you, I will let all these people go…” he pauses looking into my eyes. “If you let me have you.”

  “No.”

  “Hell no.”

“Fuck that shit,” the guys say at the same time.

I look at them and back at him. He knows I want to save these people. He knows I would sell my soul to make sure
that happened.

My body is screaming for him; it’s saying yes, yes, yes.

I look back at the guys and a part of me wants to say no.

“Please don’t let us die.” I turn to see a young woman with tears falling down her cheeks.

“You promise you will let them go? That once they leave this hotel they will be safe?”

“I will make sure those who work for me will not be after them for this cause. They will be safe for now.” It’s the for now I hate. “It’s how the world works; you know there will always be people out there who will be after them. But you will have my word that they won’t be harmed for the original reasons why I needed them.” That doesn’t make me feel any better either.

“Ivory, don’t do this,” Caspian begs.

“I don’t think I have much choice.” I turn away from him, shaking the dark power’s hand. In a flash, I am taken into the darkened room I woke up in after my fall. I am in nothing but a black lace corset with black lace panties.

“You made the right choice. The good choice. All the people are heading home, the demons have left the hotel.” I watch him walk to a small table with different drinks, and he pours two small glasses of something brown. “I thought you might want this.” He hands me the glass. I take a little sip, coughing at the harsh taste.

“What about my friends and family?”

“The band?” he adds. “They are still at the hotel, but safe. All of them. I know it would pain you if those fools were killed, even though I would enjoy it. I know your heart still beats for them. I just hope one day it will beat for me too.” He gives me a soft look. Looking at him like this, you wouldn’t think he was the big bad.

I walk around the room, taking sips of my drink, letting the burning sensation slide down my throat, warming my stomach. Knowing this is going to lead to sex, I feel a little shy. The only people I have had sex with since my ex-boyfriend from high school was the band, but I felt comfortable with them; I couldn’t wait for their hands to be on me.

  Their faces enter my head.

“Ivory, please wake up,” I hear a whisper.

“Are you okay?” I turn, expecting someone else to be here but it’s just us. He obviously didn’t hear it.

“A little nervous.” It’s not a complete lie. I’m going to give my body away to a guy who is meant to be evil for a deal we made, in exchange for the safety of hundreds.

This does seem a little wrong.

Something is nagging me not to do it. To say no.

It is all dulled when I feel one of his hands slide around my middle from behind. He sweeps all my hair over to one shoulder, exposing a side of my neck, and leans down, placing a gentle kiss there.

Closing my eyes, I let the sensations take over me. It’s the first time I can really smell him, and it reminds me of summer rain. His hands glide down until his hand is over my covered pussy, and I hear him growl.

With quick motion, he rips the panties off me, his fingers sliding to my wet folds, his fingers teasing me slowly. When he starts rubbing my clit, I whimper. He pulls me closer to him, and I start grinding myself against his erection, my front grinding against his hand at the same time.

  Our breathing picks up.

We are teasing one another. Wrapping my arm around his neck, pulling the back of his hair is all it takes before he is pushing me onto the bed, undressing himself and hovering above me.

I feel his cock at my entrance. I look into his white eyes, and as soon as he enters me, he gives me this evil smile. His eyes turn black, his whole body turns black, the human form disappearing.

He starts thrusting inside of me.

I cry out at the pleasure of it; my brain is telling me to pull away. To stop this, but my body never wants this to end. My body is winning the battle. With each thrust, I am screaming out, begging for more. I notice this black cloud start to wrap around us both.

I hear him growling, his shadowy fingers gripping into me. I feel that ache start to build. My body gets this feeling I have never had and can’t explain. I am so close to coming.

I see this flash behind my eyelids. Opening my eyes, I see this light close to me.

  Trying to reach me.

I extend my arm, trying to reach for it. This seems to fuel the dark power on even more. Fucking me harder and faster, making my arm start to shake. The light is calling out to me. I stretch myself out, trying to get to it; the pleasure my body is feeling is too intense.

My eyes roll back, and I cry out my release. The light shoots past us and disappears, and the black cloud starts to surround me, covering every inch of me, these shocks shooting all over my body, making me cry out but this time in pain.

“Well, princess, that was some fuck,” I hear him say, and I am still crying out as the cloud touches my bare skin.

  Hurting me.

“What are you doing to me?”

“Making sure you stay with me. You are mine, Ivory. I can’t afford the light messing up my future plans.” I look at him, and all I see is the black smoke of a man.

I am slowly lifted from the bed and pushed against the wall, the cloud staying around me, but the pain has stopped. The room morphs and turns into a different room. There is a single throne at the far end of the room; creepy paintings hang along the walls and a fireplace has a black fire roaring.

“Please, let me go,” I beg, trying to move my arms and legs.

“Didn’t you enjoy that, Ivory? I think your screams tell me that you did. Trust me, we are going to keep doing it.” His lips land on mine, but I turn my face away. He harshly grabs my chin, forcing me to look at him. “Don’t start acting all high and mighty, princess. You enjoyed the dark side. I plan to slowly to turn every light inch of you dark. Then you can join me at my side. Trapping the source forever.” He walks over to this throne and takes a seat.

“I won’t let you touch me again. I’d rather bite your dick off,” I growl at him.

“Well, unfortunately for you, you have dark in you now; your gift won’t work on me as I am the source of the darkness. So trust me, I will take advantage of that delicious body of yours for all of eternity because we aren’t going anywhere, princess.”

“Slate and the guys will come find me.”

“You couldn’t even find me, so what makes you think they can? Four useless nightwalkers. No one will ever see you again, get used to that.”

Tears start to prickle my eyes, but I won’t give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry. I huff and look away from him, but I can feel his eyes on me.

I spend the night pinned to this wall, the devil left me to go to bed, leaving me alone like this.

  Punishing me.

I named him the devil as it feels quite fitting.

How did I ever feel different with him? How did my body crave him? I think back to Kayleigh. She must have spiked me with the same potion.

I swear if I ever see her, I’m going to a cut a bitch.

Once I get my power back and all that.

I think back to the light I saw in the bedroom. Was that the light trying to come back to me? If it was, it left me. I just hope I will be able to do something for it to choose me again.

I do get some sleep, but it’s not peaceful.

I swear I feel like the room is alive. I keep hearing breathing next to me; I’m sure I feel ghostly hands touch my arms and legs. But there is only ever me in the room.

Hearing footsteps coming closer to me, I wake fully to see the devil walking closer to me. Once he is in front of me, his hands glide down my legs, causing me to shiver. He smiles, thinking it’s out of pleasure, but it’s not.

I don’t want his nasty fingers near me.

He looks into my defiant eyes, and he morphs into his human self. I look into his green eyes, and my body instantly softens. It’s like my body recognizes him, but my mind is stronger today. I look away, and he growls in the back of this throat.

  “Kayleigh,” he shouts.

I watch as she walks through the
double red doors. She gives me a knowing look when she spots me, and I look away from her stare. She knows I slept with him.

Yeah, it was for the safety of others, but deep down, we all know it was for mostly selfish reasons. Kayleigh stands in front of the devil and bows her head.

“You wanted me?” she asks. He smiles deviously at her before pulling her hair, her head falling back. He licks up her neck, his eyes connecting with mine.

“Princess doesn’t seem to want to play so I guess we will have to show her how and then show her the consequences if she doesn’t follow simple orders.”

“Ivory, please wake up,” I hear again.

“Who is saying that?” I shout out. I want to hold my head, but my hands are pinned in place.

“Come back to us,” the voice says again.

“What are you hearing?” he asks.

“I love you so much, Ivory; please wake up for us,” I hear again.

“What do you hear?” I hear him roar at me, but I can’t answer.

I squeeze my eyes closed, my mind going to the voices, figuring where they are coming from; voice after voice pounds through my head. I feel this jolt through my body, and I open my eyes in panic, squinting at the bright light.

All I hear is my breathing.

  Where am I?

“I’m coming for you, Ivory; I’m part of you now.” I hear the dark power whisper but it’s faint. I block it away, blinking a few times. I am taken aback when I see my mom smiling at me, and I give her a weak smile.

  I’m back home.

  They brought me back.

Tears fall down my cheeks until I spot Kayleigh.

  Kayleigh?

I jump from the bed, landing on top of her. I smash the glass near me, grabbing a shard and placing it near her neck.

“Ivory!” I hear behind me, but I ignore it. She needs to die for what she did to me.

  Epilogue

  Slate

“What is happening to her?” I ask in a panicked voice. I look around the room, seeing Caspian, Zeke, and Rush look in horror.

It’s something you see from that film Nightmare on Elm Street. This little pang of pain hits me, knowing if she was awake and seeing something like this happening, she would have said something about that film.
