Trying to gain her composure, Lena mumbles “Fahim our daughter is in bed with us lying beside me.” That got Fahim’s attention, and he leans over her to see for himself, and sure enough, Tami is snuggled against her Momma. It doesn’t deter his objective as he continues sliding his fingers in and out of Lena’s wetness while sucking on her earlobe. Lena tries to show her irritation, but the stimulating sensations are flooding her body and senses, too compelling to ignore. She whispers “Fahim, we can’t, baby we can’t keep this up Tami in the bed with us. Please, please stop this delicious torture. I’m going to explode” pleading for him to stop.

Fahim growls again and concedes to her hushed demands and instead sits up on the side of the bed grabbing his jeans off the floor and sliding them over his nakedness. With them sagging around his hips, he walks around to Lena’s side of the bed and looks down at the culprit who put a stop to his amorous intentions. Smiling down at his little angel, he gently picks her up into his arms trying his best not to awaken Tami and carries her back to her room and her bed. As soon as he lays her down, Tamisha’s eyes open and she yawns “Daddy you spent the night?” “Yes, I did mi ángel,” he says as his heart swells with love at her recognition calling him daddy. He bends down beside her bed, so they were at eye level.

“Your Momma and I had to discuss a few things privately.” “About you and me and Momma being a family?” “Yes and other things as well. Grown up things.” “Aaahh,” Tamisha says with a giggle. “Like kissing and wrestling on the bed and us kids aren’t allowed to play along with you.” Getting uncomfortable the way the conversation suddenly shifted, Fahim clears his throat. “Well, kind of Tamisha.” She looks at him oddly and says “Uncle Drigo and Aunt Robin play that game all the time. I still don’t understand why us kids can’t play with the grown-ups when they are wrestling and making loud noises. It’s not fair for ya’ll to have all the fun.” “Oh, mi pequeño ángel, don’t feel like that. Let me see if I can explain things to you so that you will understand.” Tamisha stares at him carefully listening to his every word.

“So you know how you, Teo, Matti and Sabella like to play certain games and you don’t want us grown-ups to participate in?” “Parti… I can’t say that word” Tamisha groans frustrated. “Okay sound it out love – par” Fahim says patiently. “Par” Tamisha repeats. “Parti” he says again. “Parti” she repeats and adds “cipate. Participate. Participate” she repeats again. “That a hard word. What does it mean?” “It means to join in or play along” Fahim answers. “Okay. P-p-participate. It’s still hard to say, but I will practice until I get it right.” Okay, ángel. So you know how sometimes you want to play something with your friends or by yourself, and you don’t want to be bothered or have anyone else join or play with you?” Fahim asks. “Yes sometimes” she answers. “Well, grown-ups have certain times where they want the same thing.” “So ya’ll can wrestle around together and make weird and loud noises?” Tamisha asks point blank.

Fahim shakes his head and hunches his shoulders in defeat and just answers “Yes that’s correct.” “So while I was beside Momma and she was making all those weird noises from her mouth ya’ll were getting ready to wrestle?” she asks innocently. Lena snickers as she stands in the doorway listening to their conversation. “Tamisha Renee you were acting like you were asleep,” she asks now standing by her daughter bed beside Fahim. “No Momma and good morning. I was asleep until I heard you moaning in my ear.” “Why didn’t you say anything?” Lena asks a bit upset.

Tamisha knew that tone of voice and chose her words carefully. “I wanted to have some fun wrestling with you and Daddy this morning before I asked when we are going to eat breakfast. I also wanted to do downstairs but remembered you said last night not to go down unless I was with you, Daddy or Aunt Tura.” Fahim tries his best not to laugh, but the whole situation is hilarious. Clearing his throat and hoping to calm Lena down who was looking more upset by the minute and knew he would be listening to a few choice words later since he kept persisting in their early morning make out session.

Getting up from the floor and setting on Tamisha’s bed he lifts her in the air and sits her down beside him. He looks at Lena with a smile on his face and nods his head for her to join them pleading with his eyes for forgiveness. Lena, still upset, sits beside her daughter kissing her forehead to let her know she wasn’t angry with her. Fahim hugs Tamisha and says “So since we are going to be one big happy family maybe we should talk about what reorganizing the way certain things are done without creating too much of a disturbance in how we go about our daily routines and lives.” Tamisha stares at Fahim frowning, and he says “I mean having chaos and difficulties popping up.”

Tamisha still looks at him oddly, and Fahim looks over at Lena who still has her lips pressed together, and he knew he’s on his own trying to explain things.

Scratching his head, he says “So Tami I know you are used to going into your Momma’s bedroom all the time without having to knock on the door, or that you're coming into the room. Am I correct?” “Well, parts of what you said is right. I do have to knock if the door is closed. If she doesn’t answer, I still come inside. If the door is open, I walk right on in. Momma has never locked the door, so it hasn’t been a problem. The door wasn’t closed when I came in earlier. When I saw you both were sleeping, I couldn’t fit between the two of you being all close together under the covers. So I lay beside Momma waiting for someone to wake up so we could go downstairs and check to make sure our trees are still here and still pretty. I guess I fell asleep until I heard Momma making all those weird sounding noises. So am I in trouble? Matti and Teo were always getting into trouble going into Uncle Drigo and Aunt Robin’s room without knocking.”

Lena looks at Fahim who looks back at her, and they smile at each other. Lena pulls Tami into her lap stroking her mussed up pigtails and giving her a big hug. “No my love you’re not in trouble. But the rules we set before will be changing some now that Fahim will be here with us.” Looking a bit sad she mumbles “Yeah I know. I figured that would happen. There are so many things us kids can and can’t do. So will I have a brother or sister to play with soon?” Fahim stares at Lena lovingly and answers “Hopefully very soon mi ángel. But first, your Momma and I have to do a lot of private wrestling together.” Lena punches him in his arm laughing. Fahim frowns realizing his soon to be wife has a hard punch as he feels the burn.

Tamisha is still frowning and asks “Well can Matti, Teo, and S’bella stay here, so I will have someone to play with? It does get lonely sometimes playing by myself. It was okay while I was going to kindergarten but since we’ve been on holiday and Gran Gran and Auntie Zel have been gone to see my Uncle Zach and Aunt Mari I get lonely when Momma is at work or going to school, and the babysitter is here. That’s why I’ve been having fun at Aunt Robin’s. They have kids there for me to play with.

“Aww baby” Lena sighs. “I will call Robin today to see if they can come over and spend some time with you today. If they can’t, we will spend the day together. How does that sound?” “Yay!! That sounds fabulous. I’m hungry Momma. Can we eat soon?” “Tell you what, go into your closet and pick out what you want to wear today, shoes included and makes sure it's something warm. It snowed again last night. Fahim has to leave to change his own clothes. When he returns, we will go out to eat at Monet’s for breakfast. How does that sound?” “Great!!! Okay Uncle Fahim, I mean Daddy, hurry up and get back. I’m starving.”

“All right mi ángel. I won’t be long, ” and he kisses her forehead before Tamisha runs into her closet to search for an outfit to wear.

Returning to what is now deemed their bedroom, Fahim hugs Lena and sounding very apologetic says “I’m sorry bebé for not listening to you earlier. I caused this early morning snafu. I promise to listen to you next time.” “I’m good Fahim. I learned a lot from your conversation with Tamisha. That child of mine is smarter than I thought. I didn’t realize she wanted a brother or sister. I didn’t know
she knew about grown-up wrestling. You bring out things in her she doesn’t think to share with me.”

“Lena before me, you never had another man in your bed. She didn’t find out about grown-up wrestling until she was hanging out at my brother’s. We will be getting used to us all being around each other constantly. She’s going to be curious, and we will do our best to show, teach and answer any questions or problems she may have.” “You’re right Fahim. My daughter, I mean our daughter is growing up way too fast.” “And that’s why you and I are going to be grown-up wrestling all the time until we have at least or three more underfoot. One more girl and two boys.”

“You don’t want much do you?” Lena states laughing while squeezing Fahim tightly. You better finish dressing and hurry back before we have a hungry and angry child on our hands.” “I don’t need to go anywhere mi amor. I have my duffle bag in the Highlander. I thought maybe we will have a little time to finish what got interrupted earlier” and he kisses Lena so sensually her bare toes curl under her feet on the carpet. Tamisha runs inside and says “Ooops, sorry. Can I watch cartoons while you and Daddy finish wrestling Momma?”

Fahim burst out laughing. He releases the hold he has on Lena so she can leave and go down the hall to the room she’s designated as the TV room/office upstairs. She turns on the television and starts Tamisha’s favorite DVDs playing in the multiple disc player to keep her occupied. Kissing Tamisha on her forehead, Lena returns to Fahim so they can finish their grown-up wrestling.

  CHAPTER 37

Lena and Tura were too busy over the weekend to have their daily conversations like they normally do which is unusual. Lena was tied up with Fahim and Tamisha enjoying their family time together. Tura was loving being with Gerry and never got tired of hanging with him. Even his friend, Foster's visit, didn’t disrupt their quality time together.

Tura woke up in a great mood Monday morning. She helped Gerry get off to work barely on time and knew they would have to get better. Now it’s afternoon, and while making herself some lunch, her cell phone rings. She looks at the caller ID and the name Arusha Figest across the screen and almost doesn’t answer but knew she had no choice knowing she would only call again.

“Hello, Mother.” “Hello, Tura. Your father and I haven’t heard from you, and we grew concerned. We spoke with Tamilko and Pechi earlier today. They also stated you all haven’t spoken since they invited you out to California to spend the holidays and you turned down the invitation.”

Tura rolls her eyes upward and answers “I’m spending the holidays with my friend Lena and my fiancé Gerard and I couldn’t be happier Mother.” Arusha chuckles through the phone and says “Oh Tura, there you go clowning around as usual. You never mention to Amit and I you have a male companion in your life let alone someone who you would consider marrying. You’re too pre-occupied with being an American party girl and enjoying the college scene while attending school. You’re too flighty to settle down into a serious relationship.”

Tura takes a few deep breaths, so she won’t say anything to disrespect her mother. Snapping a picture of her ring she texts it to her mother along with a picture of her and Gerry together. She says as calming as she can “Mother I love you and I love Father, but neither of you seems to know the real me or care to find out who I am as a person. I just texted you a photo of my fiancé and of the beautiful engagement ring I received Friday when he asked me in the most romantic way to marry him. I hope you and Father will be happy for me and welcome Gerry into our family with open arms.”

Not expecting a response from her mother she says “But if you don’t and you decide to take away the funding you left for me to finish my education so be it. I received a letter today from a very prestigious law firm in the Nashville area, and they are impressed with my grade point average. They offered me a job and will pay for half of my tuition once I start law school. The only stipulation is I have to work at their firm for five years after receiving my degree and passing the bar exam. I’ve also sent letters to other law firms and I will wait a couple of weeks to see if I get any more offers. If not, Brooks and Dunn will be getting a call of acceptance from me. I was going to text you later that I wanted to skype with you and Father this evening with all the good news and introduce you both to Gerry. But hearing what little faith you have in my ability to succeed in life really hurts to hear. I thought you loved me unconditionally, but I guess I was wrong.”

Arusha said nothing for several minutes, but Tura knows her mother is still on the line because of the heavy breathing she heard in her earpiece. “Tura” she finally hears. “Amit is also on the line and has heard everything you said as well. I received the photos and your gentlemen I mean your fiancé, and he is very handsome. The ring is absolutely gorgeous. I love he chose something with your birthstone. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Forgive me. I’m just so stunned by your news.”

Tura took several more deep breaths to keep the anger she’s feeling from spewing out over the phone. “Tura are you still there?” “Yes Mother I’m here” “Well Amit, and I came to an understanding a long time ago you were your own person, living your own life the way you thought suited you and not keeping with our traditional customs of our race. We are very proud of you and are happy you’ve found that special someone to complete you. I’ve never seen you so happy as you do in the photo with Gerard. Your happiness shows in your eyes, and we see the love your fella has for you in his. I hope we get an invitation to your wedding and we get to speak with Gerard personally soon.”

Shocked and happy at the same time is all Tura is feeling at that moment as tears flow down her face. “Tura” she hears the voice of her father and answers happily “Hi Father” unable to say more since her throat is choked up with emotion. “Tell your young fella it would have been nice if he asked me for your hand at least out of respect.” “Father,” she says finally finding her voice “blame me and not Gerry. He wanted to do everything traditionally, but I told him you might not approve, so he didn’t. I promise he will call you very soon.” “Okay, my dear. Tura we do love you and are very proud of all you’ve accomplished. And the money we left for you is yours to finish your college education understood. I won’t hear any more of that nonsense you spoke of earlier.” “Yes, Father and thank you. Thank you, both. I love you, and I’m sorry I overreacted as usual.” She hears them both chuckling in the background.

“I’ll call Gerry right after we finish talking and give him your number Father so he can call you.” “All right my daughter. I’m looking forward to hearing from you both very soon. Goodbye Tura.” Bye Father. Bye Mother.” Tura quickly calls Gerry to tell him of the conversation with her parents and give him her father’s number so he can contact him.

Lena wasn’t in a good mood. She’d gotten so used to having Fahim underfoot, and when he left flying back to New York to handle some business details, she wasn’t too happy. She also hadn’t heard from her best friend which was understandable, but she really needed someone to talk with.

Tamisha was at a daycare she’d found that was open during the holidays and came highly recommended for their academic program for kids her daughter’s age. It was a bit pricey but Tamisha would be hanging out with children her age and would make new friends hopefully and learning academically as well.

All the gifts are wrapped; her house is clean, and she’s bored. She tried contacting her mom and sister earlier to tell them the news of her engagement to Fahim and that he is going to adopt Tamisha but had been unable to reach them. They were probably out with Zach and Mari and their families doing some last minute shopping or just out and about enjoying each other’s company. She missed her family especially her mom and sister Zelma. Hopefully next Christmas, everyone would be able to spend the holidays with them.

Sighing, she grabs the remote to see what’s on TV when her doorbell chimes. She goes to the door and looks through the peephole to see Tura standing on her porch. Swinging the door open with a smile on her face, she lets Tur
a inside and after closing the door from the cold weather, Lena hugs her friend.

“I’m so glad to see you, bestie. I’m so bored with nothing to do.” “We must both be in the same boat. I was also finding myself bored until my conversation with my parents. After talking with Gerry, I decided to pay my friend a visit and update you on everything going on in my life since we hung out last.”

“Well follow me to the kitchen, and I’ll make us some coffee, and we can snack on some banana nut bread I made earlier. You can tell me all the juicy details. Tamisha is at daycare and Fahim had to fly back to New York. I’ve been feeling sorry for myself after having people around me twenty-four-seven for the past few days.”

Tura notices the diamond engagement ring sparkling on Lena’s hand, and she asks excitedly “Did Fahim propose?” Lena just as excited, goes over the details of her wonderful weekend and Fahim’s awesome marriage proposal. When she’s finished, Tura smiles at Lena’s new positive attitude, and relaxed body language. She was no longer scared to love and have someone love her back unconditionally.

Lena noticed Tura was more bubbly than usual and also she hadn’t removed the leather gloves from her hands. “Girl, are your hands still cold? You’re still wearing your gloves, and it’s like a furnace up in this kitchen since I had the oven on earlier. Tura eyes twinkle at Lena’s comment replying with “Oh, I’m good, but if it's bothering you I’ll remove them to make you happy.” Lena looks at her friend suspiciously and asks “What’s going on Tura? You’re too happy even for you. Did the conversation with your parents go well?” “Oh yes. They are so happy I’m happy. And they are very proud of me getting a job offer from Brooks and Dunn to be a paralegal with their firm.” “Seriously Tura! That’s fantastic news. Did you tell them about Gerry?”
