Baby Batter Page 37

I hear Jake groan, a low, growling sound that rises up from his body. I clasp my hands behind his neck and start to pull myself closer to him, because I know that he’s getting close to his own orgasm.

The strokes shorten, and I know that he’s almost over the edge of pleasure now, too, and I want to take him there. I want him to come at least half as much as I have tonight; I want him to experience the ecstasy that he’s brought me now. This is the grand finale, after all the fucking we’ve done tonight…we’re both about to melt from all the orgasms we’re having, but we’re not quite done, yet. He’s building me up, and he’s pushing himself to the edge, too.

His finger takes over my clit, and I cry out. The heat that he’s been stoking within me finally washes over me as the next orgasm finally releases and takes over my thoughts. I fall apart on the bed, coming utterly undone at the sensations that have all built through my body and are taking over, coursing through me. Jake’s hand presses against my clit, and it’s like my orgasm pushes him over the edge and sets off his own. We’re a chain reaction of desire, one firing the other off.

Jake’s cock twitches inside me and his cock explodes into me, and with a deep groan, he falls forward, catching himself on his hands on either side of my body. He trembles as he empties himself inside me, filling me up with what must be another gallon of cum. The man comes more than any man I’ve ever known, and I love the feel of him heating me up inside. I gasp, my walls clenching around him, and I’m hyperaware of his cock jerking inside me. My body does what it’s created to do and milks him of every drop of his lust, spasming in rhythm with him, until, finally, the orgasm releases me and I’m more spent and more satisfied than I have ever been in my life.

Jake collapses on top of me, breathing hard, and my heart hammers against his ribs. His chest rises and falls in time with mine and I remember, we dropped the ‘L’ bombs. We love each other. We just fucked so hard after we said ‘I love you’ to each other. A warmth spreads through my body and I think about just how much I do love him. And he loves me. I am so happy that my heart could hammer and beat right out of my chest right now.

Jake looks up at me and smiles, and I wonder if he’s thinking the same thing. He pulls his hips backward and slips out of me, already softening, and he kisses my forehead. When he lies next to me, I feel more blissful than I ever have in my life. I love this man. I love Jacob Kent, the Cunning Linguist, and the man with whom I am actually capable of having completely unrestrained sex with, even if I don’t have an audience. It turns out your own personal chorus of joy inside your head and more orgasms than there are days in a week can be just as satisfying.

I get off the bed and walk to the bathroom to clean up. When I return to the bed, his arm wraps around me and I listen to his heartbeat as I fall asleep, realizing we’ve spent hours fucking. For so long that I’m not just tired from the sheer energy we expended but because we fucked the evening away. And I couldn’t be happier about it.

  Jake

The next day in my office, I’m telling Layla about letting Toby guest host the first episode of ACL after the hiatus, and the look of relief on her face is almost amusing.

“I hate to sound like some jealous girlfriend,” she says, her cheeks flushing. “But I was really going crazy thinking about you and Meghan Mitchell.”

I shoot her a cocky grin. “Were you?” I like the way she kinda, sorta called herself my girlfriend in a roundabout way.

“Yeah,” she admits, wrinkling her nose. “Not that I’m jealous or anything. Or even your girlfriend,” she adds hurriedly. “I hope you know I totally respect your job and that I’d never get in the way of it."

It’s kind of cute the way she’s fumbling for words. “For the record, I love you, remember? So yeah, I’d definitely call you my girlfriend. And you’ve obviously come around and seen the light,” I tease. Just a while ago she told me about the report she submitted to her boss. She recommended that the FCC drop the push for fines and let the show run as planned. We don’t know yet how that will pan out, but I feel confident.

Just as I’m about to tell her about the plans for the show I came up with last night, right before she distracted me with those crazy hot sexts, Toby comes striding into the room.

I cock an eyebrow at him and huff out a laugh. “Dude, what’s crawled up your ass and died?”

He throws a paper down on my desk. “Check this shit out.”

Reaching for the paper, I glance at Layla, who looks just as baffled as I feel. Toby isn’t one to get all worked up so easily. He’s pretty cool and easygoing. But right now his face is bright red and I swear steam might start coming from his ears at any moment.

“What is it?” I say, looking it over quickly. It looks like one of the millions of letters we receive from women wanting to be on the show. “Some applicant has pissed you off?”

“I was looking through some of the old letters we had filed away and found this one. It’s from Lori.”

“Lori?” Layla gasps. “My boss Lori?”

“The very same,” Toby says through clenched teeth. “I thought her name sounded familiar when the lawyers mentioned it the other day. I couldn’t shake this feeling that I was missing something. All this bullshit with the FCC and the network heads and lawyers was so much more aggressive than I expected, so I did some research. Look,” he says, gesturing at the letter.

I scan it more closely this time. Yeah, it’s from Lori all right. It talks about her divorce and how she’s spent so much of her life building her career that she never took time for herself. She was one of the many who could benefit from my show. Unfortunately, we just don’t have the capacity to host them all. We didn’t choose her, obviously.

I look up from the letter and meet Layla’s eyes, handing it over to her. I can almost feel my blood boiling. My jaw ticks as I process what this means.

“This is crossing a line,” I say to Toby, standing from my desk to pace my office. Every step I take only fuels my anger. This is big. Not just big. Fucking huge.

“Tell me about it,” Toby rants, my anger only fueling his own. “She’s pissed off that we rejected her, so she comes after us? What the fuck?”

“It’s about revenge,” I muse, stopping and narrowing my eyes as I think. “Lori’s using her position of authority to get back at us. Unacceptable. I’m going straight to legal right now. If they want to make this a public shit show, things are about to get really ugly. Let’s see how the public feels when they find out that not only are they being treated like children who need censorship, but the fucking agency that’s calling the shots has ulterior motives.”

I start toward the office door, Toby right on my heels. In this moment, we’re more of a team than ever. Solidarity and all that. We’re going to go blast this bitch and make her regret ever trying to take us down.

  “Wait.”

I stop with my hand on the door at the sound of Layla’s voice. She sounds concerned, but there’s something more in her tone. Sadness. It’s enough to give me pause, and I turn around to face her.

  “Don’t do this.”

  Layla

It’s unbelievable. I never would've thought Lori would use her position to do something so underhanded. It’s not about censorship and protecting the people. Family values and all the rest of the holier-than-thou bullshit that she spouted off when she first gave me this assignment.

I had no idea Lori ever wanted to be on A Cunning Linguist. It doesn’t seem to fit her at all. She was so insistent that the show is obscene. Unfit for the public. Yet she wanted to be on it?

I also can’t believe she didn’t tell me. She basically lied by omission, and I can’t help but be a little upset by that. Yeah, we have a boss/employee relationship, but I’ve always respected her, and I considered her my friend. Sure, things have been a bit tense since I started spending time with Jake. But we’re still friends.

When I tell Jake, “Wait,” and he turns to me, he’s so angry.

  Not at me, but at
Lori and the entire situation. And as much as I’m upset that she wasn’t honest with me, and that she put Jake’s show in real jeopardy, I think I know why she did it. She was embarrassed. I get that now.

Talking to all those women yesterday really enlightened me even more. They were all embarrassed to an extent, but they believed in Jake’s message. I think she really wanted to see what Jake’s show could do for her, but once she was rejected, she became bitter and angry about it.

I’m not defending her. Not at all. Because this could've ended very badly for Jake. But I think I have an idea.

“Don’t do this,” I tell Jake, walking toward him. “You’re angry. I get it. But I think I have a solution.”

  His expression changes. “How?”

“Yeah,” Toby chimes in. “Not really sure how this is fixable. Lori has an ulterior motive and I have no doubt she still wants to take us down.”

“Lori needs to be the next guest on A Cunning Linguist.”

  Silence.

  One beat.

  Two.

  Three.

I swear a solid thirty seconds passes before either of them says anything. And the looks they’re giving me make it clear that they’re worried about my sanity.

  “Just hear me out, okay?”

They exchange weary looks, but nod, sitting down.

“Why would we want to have someone on the show who just wants to make us look even worse?” Toby asks before I can say anything.

“Yeah,” Jake agrees. “I’m not following. Lori’s dangerous to the future of ACL. You do see that, right? If we have her on the show, she’s going to try to tear us apart on national TV. Live TV. There won’t be any coming back from that.”

I nod slowly. “But what if we can flip it on its head?”

  “How?” he asks again.

So I explain. When I’m done, the two men exchange glances, neither looking convinced. I sigh in frustration. They aren’t going to go for it.

“I don’t know, Layla,” Toby says. “I still think it’s a bad idea. We’ve put too much into ACL to risk it all like this. It’s too unpredictable.”

I focus my attention on Jake. “Do you trust me?”

He nods reluctantly. “You know I do.”

“Then can you please just trust me on this?” I hold my breath as he considers my words. Another long silence passes.

Finally, he blows out a hard sigh and nods. “Okay. Let’s do it.”

  Jake

“Good evening, everyone, and welcome to a brand new live broadcast of A Cunning Linguist. I’m your host, Jake Kent, and tonight I have my protégé Toby with me as a guest host. Please welcome him to the show.”

I flash the camera my trademark megawatt grin as the live audience goes crazy for Toby. He really is a (only very slightly) younger version of me. The women obviously find him attractive. Perfect.

When the cheers settle down a bit, I continue my spiel. “We’ve been on hiatus for a few weeks now, and it’s good to be back.” More whoops and cheers. They fucking love me. “So tonight we’re doing something a little different, but don’t worry, I think you’re going to love it.”

Settling in and looking earnestly into the camera, I lay it out for everyone who’s watching. “You’ve probably seen that we’ve been all over the media in the past few weeks. It’s amazing what a national debate our last live broadcast incited. The battle against censorship is real, and I’ve never been afraid to take it on, as you know. I feel passionately that women—and men, but let’s be real, this affects women more frequently—should be free and uninhibited when it comes to their sexuality. So we’re going to discuss whether agencies should have the authority to determine exactly what that means. But we have more than that for you. Tonight, I want to have a roundtable discussion with two key players in the industry. We’re going to dive in and go a little deeper to discuss the ethics behind it in a roundtable discussion. So, let’s get right to it. Let me introduce you to our guests tonight. Please welcome Lori and Layla to the show.”

I watch as Layla accompanies Lori onto the stage and they take their seats at the table across from us, Lori across from Toby, and Layla across from me.

I have no idea if this is going to work. It could still blow up in our faces. But I’m willing to give it a shot.

Extending my hand to Lori, I realize that Toby’s beaten me to it. But holy shit, the way he’s looking at her is totally unexpected. He’s holding her hand in his and smiling at her in that way that makes women want to drop their panties in seconds flat. He learned that from me, by the way. In fact, let’s just take a second and make it clear right here that any game Toby might have, he learned it from me. Got that? Great. Moving on.

“Welcome to the show, Lori,” Toby says in a voice that can only be described as seductive. I feel fucking weird saying that about my wingman, but it’s the truth. He’s working his magic on her. And she seems to be responding. Uptight, straight-laced, oral-sex-is-offensive Lori is totally creaming her panties right now. I’m sure of it.

I mean, I’m the expert, right? I would know. I look at the camera and arch an eyebrow, making sure the viewers catch on to what I’m witnessing. Then I wink and turn back to them.

“Yes, Lori. Welcome,” I say. And she doesn’t even look at me. Well damn.

I turn to Layla with a what-the-fuck look, but she looks just as baffled as I am. Okay then. “Layla, welcome to A Cunning Linguist.”

  “Thanks for having us, Jake.”

I look at her for half a beat, losing my train of thought. She just called me Jake for like the first time ever.

Layla winks. “That is what your friends call you, right?”

I want to laugh. She’s fucking with me on live TV. God, I love this woman. Always keeping me on my toes.

“Indeed. Okay, so like I said, tonight we’re going to talk about the ethics of censorship. In case anyone wasn’t aware, Layla and Lori here work for the FCC, and Layla was personally responsible for the investigation. We spent a lot of time together over the last few weeks, and she got an insider peek into how the show works. Tell us about that.”

“Thanks, Jake. I was initially given the assignment by Lori,” she gestures to Lori and then pauses, wide-eyed, as she realizes Lori isn’t even paying close attention to what’s been said so far. She’s looking back and forth between us like she’s listening, but I can tell that she’s hyper-aware of Toby, who’s moved his chair from being across to her so that he’s now sitting next to her. Interesting.

I move my index finger in a circle, gesturing for Layla to keep going. The cameras are rolling and focused right on her.

She dives into a breakdown of her plans to interview the women who’d been on the show, with her goal of finding out what really happens when the women come on as guests. She goes through the whole thing, from how she thought they’d all be humiliated about the whole thing to discovering that every single one of them said the show changed their lives.

She’s totally going off script. We’re supposed to be talking about ethics, and instead she’s talking about how the women were only confirmation of what she’d already come to discover—that liberation from society’s constraints about sex benefitted everyone.

When she’s done and the camera flips back to me, she gives me a come on catch up look and tilts her head toward Toby and Layla. They’re now totally focused on each other. And the dude has a raging hard on that he isn’t doing anything to hide. Not that he should-that’s not how we roll on this show.

But now I get what she’s doing—capitalizing on their very apparent attraction. So I roll with it.

“Lori, what are your thoughts on Layla’s discoveries?” I say, smiling when she jerks her head toward me in surprise.

“Oh, well, um. I have to say, it wasn’t what I expected.”

Fucking Lori isn’t what I expected. Like at all. I had worked her up to be some total bitch, but she really just reminds me of a lot of my viewers and guests. Some who just want to
know if there’s more out there for them than what they’ve experienced. Yes, yes there is.

  “How so?”

She blushes. “Well, I just never imagined that so many people would say that it changed their lives. I mean, it was every last person.”

Toby jumps in. “Why do you think that is, Lori?” He looks at her earnestly, a look I know I’ve given countless women. I have to admit, the dude has skills. But he’s not just playing a role. Even though Toby’s been vying to guest host forever, he’s totally there with me on the reason we do this.

Lori bites her lip—another gesture I’ve seen a million times. “I think it must be, well, freeing.”

“Exactly,” Toby says, reaching for her hand. “Let me ask you something. And correct me if I’m wrong. But have you felt trapped or bound by limits on things other people told you were wrong? Maybe even felt guilty that you wanted these things for yourself?”

  Holy fucking shit.

I can see it happening and Lori doesn’t even realize what’s coming. Or rather what will be coming—her. Toby’s totally rocking this shit, getting Lori hot just with his words.

  She nods.

Toby smiles and leans in, resting his hand on her thigh now and tracing light circles just above her knee. “And maybe you feel like these women who Jake has helped were getting something you deserved, too?”
