The Power of Presence

Page 29

by Joy Thomas Moore

Calynn Moore survived a horrific experience with the help of her pride, which included her children. Can you recall an instance when your child/children took the lead in helping you recover from a challenging situation?

Joy remembers her values footprint with the acronym I AM CHHIPPER. Do you have a values footprint, and can you create an acronym to remember it?

How important has knowing your heritage been in shaping who you are today? What are the most important things to you about the community that you’re a part of, and the community you were born into? How do you talk to your children about their heritage?

For Joy, it was pillars and prides that defined the presence she provided her children. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, relative, or another kind of surrogate, what do you think is an essential recipe for raising confident, happy, and successful children?
